Who needs restaurant week?

My girl friends and I had plans to go out to dinner last night, but in the morning I had an idea to switch things up a bit. As much as I love going out to a nice dinner with my friends, sometimes having a night in and being able to be cozy, silly, and girly is just what the doctor ordered. So that’s exactly what we did!
I was in charge of the cooking, so I decided to go with something easy yet delicious and fun to eat. And what’s better than a taco bar? I whipped up some turkey taco meat, a big salad, and a bunch of assorted sides and toppings.

Jessi took things up a notch by making (the best ever) homemade guacamole with avocados, lime, red onion, tomato, cilantro, salt and pepper.

And for dessert? Miss Amanda brought us French macarons from Macaron Café. They were the perfect (girly) treat to wrap up our meal.

Do you prefer going out to dinner with friends or doing a dinner party at home?

what a great night!
Ooh! Review of Macaron Café pretty please? My go-to in the city is usually Bouchon (though i’ve never had Ladurée) and i’m always looking to hear reviews of other spots. These look great!
Some of the best I’ve had for sure! They’re on the large side - amazing flavors and great texture/consistency. Definitely worth trying!
thanks!
Those new mugs look adorable holding all the toppings! What a great idea to get more use out of them.
yes! glad you noticed that
i felt like such an organized hostess haha
I love dinners in with friends! This is so clever!!
that looks so fun and delicious! the macaroons make the night a TOTAL girls night
love it!
I’m with you, sometimes a night in is the way to go! When I’m in NYC again in a few months, I NEED to try Macaron Cafe.
That looks like such a fun girls night! I really love going out to dinners with my friends but I also love hosting little parties too! Its so fun to bring everyone together and cook for them plus it lends itself to a more casual environment. Love your use of your new cups!
Dinner out is always fun, but I feel so domesticated and accomplished when I pulloff a dinner party or the like. I did a Chili Bar for Sunday Funday this past weekend, and made your cake batter blondies for dessert. It was a big hit, and way more fun than ordering pizzas!
Oh my goodness I love the Macaron Cafe! Let’s ignore the fact that I’ve only been there once (during my first and only time in NYC) but it’s because of that cafe that I’m officially obsessed with macarons now.
A nice dinner out with friends is always something I love, but sometimes nothing beats a nice stress free, cozy night in!
I love both… sometimes staying in is a lot of work though!
Once in awhile is nice though.
