I always get so excited when a new Bestowed box arrives in the mail. I know I’m going to open it to find so many delicious and healthy treats!

Bestowed was kind enough to send me a free box for November, and this one was especially great – full of some old and new favorites.

If you want to try Bestowed for yourself, use discount code HELLOTEN105 to get your first box for $10 (normally $19)! This code expires on 11/30.

fun.

I love when my friends send me funny random things throughout the day.

…like this weird animation of me that Jessi made. I still have no idea how or why she made this but, I’ll take it. Haha.

And then there’s the Male Models And Cute Kittens Doing The Same Pose “article” that Erica posted on my Facebook wall. She really knows me too well…

Also on the fun front – on Wednesday night we had a clothing swap at my place for our last Community Group. We all walked away with a ton of great new clothes, and we donated what was left (about 3 trash bags full!) to Covenant House.

food.

To add to the girliness of the evening, I made an old favorite - a batch of Nutella Cake Batter Blondies. They were a whole lot of ooey gooey chocolately success, to say the least.

As for a new favorite – I’m loving these Little Green Handcrafted ‘Shroom Burgers. I always find store-bought veggie burgers to be way too small, and these are actually the size of a real burger. My go-to lunch lately.

(yes, we initial our food. haha)

fitness.

Every time I stop working out first thing in the morning…I pretty much stop working out all together. Why do I always forget how amazing it feels to exercise before work?! Back on the bandwagon with some strength training + treadmill intervals.

THESE. So good.

(Even though “uber” is probably one of my least favorite words in the history of…ever.)

I grabbed them ^ when I went grocery shopping for the first time in weeks, along with the fixin’s for this bomb lunch bowl.

In the mix: chick peas, gluten free pasta, spinach, turkey sausage, pesto.

fun.

The only thing better than a pedi is a DELUX pedi. Treat yo’self.

Last night’s Sisterhood Cause Party was so great. We raised enough money to send each mom home with a stroller, winter jackets, and a ton of other products.

We also shared inspiring stories, ate cupcakes, and sang “Roar” together. AKA the girliest evening you could imagine, in the best possible way.

face.

I am all about a deep red lip these days. I (impulsively) bought this shade – “Wild Thing” – at H&M, and I just love it for the fall.

fail.

I wonder why my mom keeps trying to trick me into buying new boots…

Whatever. The more torn up those old faithfuls get, the more I love ‘em.

faith.

^^ …what he said!

TOMORROW - November 6th – the women’s ministry of my church is hosting a Cause Party for Mother and Child and Covenant House.

If you’re a woman in NYC, this is not to be missed! It’s an incredible opportunity to come together as a community and help support and empower other women in our city.

We as Liberty Sisterhood are partnering with Mother and Child and Covenant House to come alongside and empower these beautiful young women to rise up and be all they’re called to be. These women have come from extreme circumstances and have sought refuge and empowerment at Mother and Child.

More about Mother and Child:

“Being a good mother is one of the toughest jobs in the world, and it’s almost impossible when you are young, homeless, and without family. That is why our Mother/Child program was created to help these determined mothers and pregnant teenagers secure a brighter, more stable future for themselves and their babies.

Covenant House counselors motivate each mother to work hard toward achieving independence. Our counselors are available to help them create a plan for their future by lending an ear and offering advice or sometimes by being a stern voice, if circumstance calls for it.

Residents in the Mother/Child program attend workshops in parenting skills, child-bearing, and single parenthood, and we work to make sure the girls understand the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle – both for themselves and their children.

Covenant House’s Mother/Child program also offers free on-site day care so that our mothers can complete their education or hold down a job. And our girls depend on one another as well, setting up schedules for shared baby-sitting. Living with other young mothers helps them bond, learn from each other, and gain a sense of family they probably have never experienced before.” [source]

We’re so excited that the women of Mother and Child will be joining us on this special night, and we hope that you will too. Come be a part of the special night as we empower and celebrate these amazing women!
