scenes from the weekend.

Weekends are always a fun time, but they’re especially great now that I live within walking distance of most of my favorite places in the city.

…like St. Paul’s German Church, where we had an amazing Liberty Sisterhood gathering on Friday.

Followed by a cozy late night dinner at the Meatball Shop.

Then after a few hours of bopping around we ended up at the “neighborhood club.”

In case you missed everyone’s Instagram updates, the weather in the Northeast this weekend was per-fec-tion. No winter coat necessary!

And springy nails to match.

The West Village was doing all sorts of showing off.

We brunched 13 people strong at De Santos.

I’m thankful that Rachel likes splitting meals as much as I do. Why on earth get one entrée when you can have two?

We kicked the new week off right with a visit to the gym on Sunday morning.

(Sunglasses to cover up the post-gym roughness, ha.)

With a weekly Quest Bar restock on the way home, of course.

Spring-ish attire, day two.

Dinner of lazy folk champions.

(This was actually really good!)

Last but not last is the most special part of my weekend. This is Ayanda, the adorable little girl from Zimbabwe that I’m so blessed to sponsoring through Children’s Cup.

I’ll leave you with some inspiration for the week ahead…

What was the highlight of your weekend?

a lovely saturday.

As usual, the weekend couldn’t have come at a better time. After a couple of crazy weeks with planning to move, Speakable, etc., I was so ready to have a few days to relax and spend time with my friends!

If I’m being honest, the days I work from home are spent makeup-less with my hair in a ponytail, so yesterday I took the opportunity to get a bit more dolled up.

Aaaaand POUT.

Then I met up with the girls for brunch at Diablo Royale in the West Village.

I had been wanting to go there forever, and it was great! I loved the look and feel there, and you can never go wrong with Mexican.

Afterward we went to Hudson Clearwater, where we ended up spending the remainder of the overcast day. I tried to be all fancy with my new camera by snapping Monica’s espresso shot…

…I’m getting there, right? 😉

But don’t worry, I’ll never be above taking selfies.

The night ended early for me since I had a busy day (today), so I wrapped Saturday up by watching documentaries on Netflix. I’m cool like that.

Last but not least is this great devo from yesterday. “Gain happiness by letting go of this life…”

(from the daily devotional God’s Promises Day by Day)

How did you spend your Saturday? See any good documentaries lately?

Yesterday NYC got its first snow of the season!

I love how magical the city becomes when it snows. Messy and inconvenient, but still magical.

Rewind to Saturday, where I took R&R to the next level by way of my room’s blackout curtains…

…complete with watching an arguably embarrassing amount of episodes of HIMYM. That’s what the weekends are for, right?

On the fashion front: I went all girly with florals + layered gold necklaces. Always a good combo.

An even better combo? All. Black. Everything.

No weekend is complete without a delicious brunch. This one was brought to Rachel and I by one of my favorites, The Smith.

On Sunday I also got a brief play date with one of my favorite gals (insert cutesie face emoji).

The weekend was wrapped up with church, and some more of the snowy night :)

As usual, will leave you with some inspiration to start off your week!

What was the highlight of your weekend? Did you get snow too?

Despite growing up just a few hours away, over the weekend I visited Washington DC for the first time.

I got to explore the city for a few hours on Friday and see all the sights. DC is beautiful!

Good thing Jessi has a supurb sense of direction, since I can’t even seem to use Maps correctly. Umm…

I was in DC for the Visionaries Retreat, which I also helped organize. Visionaries is the business community of my church, and it was great to hear from amazing speakers like John Bevere and Steve Dubbeldam (whose wife created one of my favorite magazines, Darling!).

It was an incredible couple of days – I learned so much, and am excited to bring the ideas back into the real world to further my career/passions.

I got home last night, and 12 hours of sleep later I had another great lazy Sunday.

Most of the day was spent with a smoothie by my side…

…and season 3 of HIMYM in process. It’s the simple things, you know?

Have you ever been to Washington DC?

‘Twas a good one.

Anyone else think that Monica should start a sister blog to GML? 😉

Rewind to Friday where I ran errands all over the city, got my hair done, and enjoyed a coffee date with a reader. Hi Melanie! :)

Friday night was a friend’s birthday party at Henry, followed by a little FreelyBe shindig at Bounce.

Saturday included consisted of brunch at De Santos with some babes.

…don’t ask.

I spent most of Sunday laying around watching How I Met Your Mother…because I could. The lazy day was made complete with a nice stack of banana pancakes + maple almond butter. Heavenly.

Later in the day I peeled myself off the couch and headed out for a coffee meeting + church. Obligatory cab ride selfie – check.

Church was incredible, as usual. And I stopped at Whole Foods for a late dinner, also as usual.

And just like that, it’s Monday again. Will leave some inspiration for the start of the week..!

What was the highlight of your weekend? Do you prefer lazy or fun Sundays?

scenes from the weekend.

It ain’t a party without a disco ball…

…and a bunch of handsome men about to grow moustaches for a good cause.

I love “first of the month” dinners with my best friend! This one was all about the comfort food: cheese burger spring rolls, tomato soup, and truffle fries.

A Saturday favorite.

(and still zero clue as to what that stamp is of…)

Can you find me??

That time we found a “rain forest café” in NYC…

…and discovered Elle is a ghost?!

You can still dress up two days after Halloween. Because MonJean does what MonJean wants.

Did you know there was such thing as the Amish Mafia? Me neither…

…but then I joined it.

Our weapon of choice – silly string guns.

Apparently guys are into DIY too.

House partyin’ in Little Italy.

Bright eyed and bushy tailed on Sunday morning. Thanks daylight savings time!

The extra sleep resulted in quite the productive morning. Score.

I enjoyed some tasty treats from The Squeeze for lunch.
Sweet Potato White Bean Burger // green juice // raw Almond Joys

And now…I’m off to enjoy the rest of this beautiful day!
