Even though I have no regrets with doing this January Jumpstart, I’ve got to say that I picked one of the craziest months of my life to do a health-related challenge. In addition to launching Speakable, I’m also planning on moving in a few weeks. Tack on my 2-3 other jobs and trying to fit in that thing called a social life…
…well, you get where I’m going. All of that is to say – I was THRILLED when NYC-based Portable Chef offered to let me try some of their meals.

I’ve tried a handful of meal delivery services in the past, and Portable Chef really stood out to me for two reasons. First of all, I love the emphasis of using farmer-sourced ingredients and humanely-raised livestock in the meals. You could really tell by how fresh the meals tasted! Their providers are even listed on the website, which I think is a really great personal touch.
Secondly (and most importantly to me), the meals were DELICIOUS. Each had great flavors, textures, and tasted like they were made from scratch. The meals I had were:
Lentil stew with mint and lemon, broccoli di cicco, sweet potatoes.

Star anise-ginger chicken with short-grain brown rice and tat soi.
Quinoa-cauliflower patties, beets with walnuts and garlic, tat soi.

Portable Chef offers specific services such as personal chef, customized meals, and meal plans for Paleo, weight loss, and illness recovery.
While I don’t personally have the budget to use Portable Chef regularly, I can definitely see the value in it. It’s a great way to have delicious and healthy meals prepared for you without having to worry about grocery shopping, cooking, or wondering what’s really in that takeout you ordered. And there’s definitely a demand for that in New York. So if you’re in NYC and find yourself eating out more than not, I think Portable Chef would be a really great alternative for you!
Please note I was not compensated for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Have you/would you ever try a meal delivery service? What are your thoughts on them?

This would be great for Ankur
Will definitely recommend it to him. He had a meal delivery service that would deliver two weeks worth of food to the apartment frozen and packaged, but he travels so much two weeks were too many, and not to mention it doesn’t look nearly as appetizing as this!
Yes, this would be great for him then!
p.s. miss you!!
You’re moving…AGAIN??? Girl, I think you move more than I do, and I move a lot!
haha yes! always for different reasons 😛 last time was for lower rent, this time is for location!
It’s all about location, especially in NYC! I hope the move goes well.
Those meals look great! Good luck getting through these next couple of weeks!
This is awesome!!! My favorite part is the emphasis of humanely raised livestock. Most companys don’t care about how the animals live their life, only how much profit the animal will make them. Are they only in NYC?? Some of my training clients would love to use portable chef!
