revlon nail enamel review + giveaway.

I’ve written before about how I have a handful of beauty secret weapons. To me, a beauty secret weapon is something that might not seem like it’s out of the ordinary, but it’s a product or tool that helps me achieve a flawless look without having to put much thought into it.

That’s especially important when it comes to my nail routine. As a twenty-something female who is constantly out and about in New York City for work, events, and social gatherings, I don’t want to have to constantly be worrying about applying and reapplying nail polish. At the same time though, nails/nail art is a huge beauty trend right now, so I want to make sure my choice of polish reflects my personal sense of style.

That’s why I was so excited when Revlon sent me a couple of their new shades of Nail Enamel. It is a gorgeously smooth, chip-resistant nail color. Its silk-protein shield prevents bubbles, streaks and brush marks for perfectly smooth color application. The shades I was given to try are Urban and Iconic-both are great, rich colors-perfect for the fall!

I’m currently wearing Iconic, which is a great charcoal-blue shade.

I also used the Revlon Matte Topcoat to ensure extra long wear.

I found that the Revlon Nail Enamel actually color stayed vibrant and didn’t fade at all. One of my best tips when it comes to applying nail polish is to choose your time wisely. This might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised by how many people I see apply nail polish before running out the door, or even on the subway! Instead, apply when you have at least 30 minutes to let it dry. I always do this right before I want to catch up on some emails (as long as you can type without letting your nails touch the keys, that is). Then to “seal the deal,” run your nails under ice cold water, which helps the polish firm up even more. And of course, always use a top coat!

Have rough scaly heels? Invest in a metal foot file just like they use at the spas for you to use at home! Mine is Mr. Pumice brand and is the EXACT one they use at my local spa. Keep it in the shower and use it every time you shower for smooth soft feet!

My favorite beauty tip is to freeze your eyeliner for about 15 minutes before applying. It will glide on much easier.

My favorite beauty tip is to use a soft bristled toothbrush to slough my lips, coat them in Vaseline and leave overnight. My lips are smooth as butter in the morning and it lasts all day long.

My tip for getting the nail polish I slop around:

I use an orange stick (also called a cuticle stick) dip it quickly in nail polish remover to get it a bit wet and roll it on a cotton ball (turning the stick) to make a small “Q-tip”. Then I use it to wipe off excess nail polish.

My favorite beauty tip is to use Witch Hazel. It is a wonderful astringent. I use it a great deal on those days at home when I don’t wear makeup.
