a long day, a good day.

You may have noticed that I’ve been keeping up with the “dear diary” sort of posts. But, to be quite honest, it’s days like today that leave me thinking, “who the heck would want to read about this?!” For the sake of transparency, though, here’s what my little old Monday looked like. While nothing particularly exciting happened, I can say that it was a long day. A loooooong day.

It started bright and early at 6am. This certainly wasn’t the easiest of tasks considering I rarely wake up before 7, but the scent of this Archer Farms Cinnamon Vanilla Nut coffee (a la Target) did make it at least a bit less dreadful.

I’m not usually a fan of flavored coffee, but this stuff is my jam.

So, what was my reasoning for the early wake up? Well, after some devotional time and preparing my lunch for the day, I started my two-hours worth of work for my dad’s business.

That’s right – I’ve taken on yet another job. I can’t really say how I’m going to make it all work other than…I’m just going to. The temp work is going to provide some extra funds that are going to go directly into my savings for (near) future plans, so even though it’s made me more of a busy-bee, I’m blessed that they’re swamped with work back in PA!

When I wrapped up with that I quickly got dressed and ready for the day ahead. Then I headed out to my usual 20-minute walk to work, where I ran into no other than Theodora! It was a pleasant addition to my morning, to say the least :)

The next 9 hours were rather uneventful. I worked, I blogged during my lunch break, and then I worked some more. That’s the nine to five six lifestyle, I suppose…

After work I headed straight over to join the lovely FreelyBe team for our bi-weekly meeting. I can’t tell you exactly what we discussed, but it was all quite exciting.

In short, this month we’re specifically working on building the foundation for Freely Be – much of which is on the legal and financial side of things. Once that’s all said and done, we can really begin to move forward full force as an organization, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see what the next few months bring!

Although I maintained more energy during the day than I thought I would, after the meeting I. was. pooped - so much so that I actually walked 5 blocks in the wrong direction after getting off the subway. Let’s just say it wasn’t my proudest wannabe-true-New-Yorker moment…ahem.

Upon arriving home and popping into my PJs, I instantly began taking part in the most critical part of my day – watching Bachelor Pad, duh.

Yeeeah. I’m not even going to attempt a decent explanation for that one. Otherthanitsthebesttvshowknowntoman.

When I realized I had yet to eat dinner, one thing and one thing only came to mind.

That would be oatmeal made with almond milk topped with peanut butter, maple syrup, slivered almonds, and coconut. Not the most conventional of dinners, but certainly the best way to end a long day right. Arguably speaking, of course.

So there you have it – my long/productive/somewhat boring Monday :) Now pardon me while I hit the hay so I can wake up and do it all over again…

Do you work multiple jobs?
What time of day are you the most productive?

I’d say my most productive time of day is right now! My husband is still asleep with all the dogs and there isn’t a bit of noise anywhere in the house! Love it! I don’t ‘work’ multiple jobs, but I find that working full time, balancing a house with 3 rescued puppies and a husband is a lot like a second job! Can’t imagine adding children to the mix right now! Good luck with your busy days!

I personally love your “Dear Diary” posts… Totally admire how you do soo much and are so productive!! I work full time and go to school part time, that alone is struggle in itself. Add a husband, home, gym and church into that mix. Craziness!

Maybe you can do a post on how you stay organized. Planner? To-do List? Blackberry/Iphone/electronic device?

Thanks for the post suggestion! :) At this point I’m still trying to find the best way to stay organized (because 3-5 to-do lists doesn’t seem to be cutting it, haha!) but I’ll definitely keep that in mind when I master the art ;)

That sounds like a crazy busy day, though I sometimes find those types of days the most enjoyable, after all, can’t the rest of the week simply seem calm compared to that? *knock on wood*

And I really enjoy reading dear diary posts like this, I definitely think one of the most fun things about reading blogs is getting a little glimpse into what people’s “real” lives are like.

Also, that coffee looks fantastic! Have you ever tried Harney’s Hot Cinnamon Spice tea? It’s perfect for fall and the flavors seem like they would be similar :)

I am definitely most productive in the early afternoon. Mornings are too hectic for me and after dinner I am pretty much powerless to the tv.

Your oatmeal dinner looks so good!! I never thought of putting coconut in it. Definitely doing that tomorrow morning :D

I had a very busy day also. Got up at the same time (6:00a.m.), worked out, packed lunches, got my two older kiddos off to school. Drove about an hour to take my dad to the hospital for heart surgery, drove to visit my mom in physical rehab. for a broken hip, back home, worked, picked up my kiddos from school, homework, more work, whirlwind until everyone is in bed and I can finally rest :) That’s life :)

That oatmeal sounds AMAZING! I will need to try that someday soon - sounds like the best comfort food! I’m not entirely sure about productivity - but I come up with the best ideas (blog posts, recipes, ect) early in the morning as I am driving to work - but I don’t have time to capture them & save for later - and then they are lost :(

Bachelor Pad is seriously the best! But don’t ruin who won - I haven’t seen the finale yet!

I’m most productive in the mornings. I like waking up earlier just to get started on being productive :) I like doing multiple jobs and right now I work at an ice cream stand and substitute.

I wouldn’t say I have multiple jobs…but I am a full time student, a part time worker, vice president of my sorority, writer for the fashion magazine on my campus and a blogger…phew I’m tired just writing that. I FEEL YA GIRLLLL.
Oats are by far one of the most comforting meals (other than the ones my momma makes me when I come home) =)

Ohh that coffee sounds delicious!! I’m going to have to pick some up! And wow, I can’t believe you’ve taken on another job- you are certainly one busy girl!! I’m impressed! And glad to know I wasn’t the only one who relaxed to an episode of Bachelor Pad last night!

Loooooooveeee the Bachelor Pad! I wish so badly that Holly and Michael would’ve ended up together…..:( Glad they shared the money! Looking forward to Ben as the new Bachelor :))))

I don’t know how you do it. After two 13-hour work days I ended up crying while I drink wine and eat frozen pizza. Aha, I need my me-time.
G’luck with all your endeavors, though. I’m sure you’ll be successful and sane.

I definitely had my bout of crying the other day :/ But then I realized I was just tired and needed to go to bed asap haha. I’m hoping these long days won’t last longer than a couple more months, though!

I have multiple jobs sometimes. I help my mom out with some accounting stuff when she is swamped and sometimes my friends have legal issues that they can handle without hiring an attorney, so I point them in the right directions (without giving them advice, which I can get sued for, crazy!). These things keep me pretty busy, but I thrive on it :)

Usually, I’m the most productive first thing in the morning, but sometimes I surprise myself and start cranking things out at 5 pm. I’m weird :)

I only work one job, but the hours vary massively starting at 7am to working overnight in a house for boarding school students - so I just have to nap when I can and keep up with everything the best I can. It is pretty manic to say the least!

  14. says

I only have an internship and school so it’s kind of like two jobs? or at least enough to keep me busy! For whatever reasons I am usually most productive in the early morning or late at night? The early morning makes sense but when I need to go to bed at 10:30 in order to get a good amount of sleep feeling productive is not appropriate.

Gracie! Love your blog, as always. Here’s a “pairing suggestion” for your yummy coffee-Williams and Sonoma’s pumpkin muffin mix! Hello, fall.

Also really wanting to know if you got your hands on any of the Missoni for Target goodies…

  16. says

I’m not normally a fan of flavored coffee either but that stuff looks AMAZING. I am literally going to Target as soon as I leave the office and buying some for myself!
