This week hasn’t been a very normal one. For example…
Usually I grab a breakfast sandwich on the way to work. Yesterday I ate leftover peanut butter hummus.
And usually I head to Midtown for work. Yesterday I headed to the Hamptons.
That’s right, I finally checked this “New York requirement” off the list. I wish I could say it was to meet up with Ramona for a poolside pedi and gossip session…
(She wants to be BFFs. I can see it in her eyes….)
…but it was actually for a last-minute work assignment. I basically took some much-needed photos for a job we’re working on and then emailed them back to the office. Easy enough, right?
The “work” itself only took a little over an hour, and my train home wasn’t until late afternoon, so I was able to spend some time in the (sort of) haughty taughty ‘hood. It was…adorable!
Unfortunately I wasn’t close enough to a beach, but I got a decent dose of strolling and window-shopping in. And, any day that I can take a break from the office is a good one in my book.
Although I was back to my typical work routine today, things didn’t start off as they normally do.
Usually I wake up around 8am. Today I was up bright and early at 6am to head to the gym. Yes…the gym! My five-month hiatus from exercising is officially over, and I must say it feels pretty good to get a little baby sweat session in before the day even begins.
My gym session was followed by yet another very out-of-the-norm breakfast – a salad. I just can’t leave Whole Foods without some salad bar action, no matter what time of day it is. Clearly.
Last but not least, there’s been a bit of a switch up in my blogging life as well. This week I began blogging and doing social media for my church - Liberty Church NYC. I’m so incredibly excited to be able to put my skills and passion into something I’m even more passionate about, which is my faith in Jesus Christ and the amazing church community I belong to!
But for now - back to something that is the norm - counting the minutes until it’s officially the weekend!
Have a good one, sweets. xoxo G
Has anything in your life been a break from the norm lately?
…Do you ever eat weird stuff for breakfast?

oh wow how fun!! I totally getcha about leaving the office. I love going on supply runs for my company!! How funny would that have been if you ran into Ramona…she would have probably been drinking some pinot
. Oh and your PB hummus is on my recipe list! xoxo
I love the Real Housewives of New York! =) hahahah love the picture of Ramona…her eyes are ALWAYS bugging out of her head!
I’m a big fan of leftovers for breakfast and have definitely nibbled on cold: pizza, mexican beans/cheese, enchiladas, chicken, and cake for breakfast in the past.
Nothing goes to waste at my house!
LOts of fun stuff going on here!
Happy weekend!
I wanna hang out in the Hamptons for work, I am so jealous!! I think I would rather hang out with Jill than Ramona though, her eyes are less…well…creepy.
Looks like a great day at work for you!
Isn’t the Hamptons such a cute place? I’ve only been there during the Summer although I would love to see it in the Fall. A couple years ago I took a break from working out, and once I got back into the swing of things, I felt better and stronger than ever
A break from the norm is always nice! Mine has been the ability to work from home recently. loving it!
I <3 the Hamptons. My aunt used to get a house there every summer and we'd visit and live viariously through her and pretend we were rich people. I did see Alec Baldwin there once…but otherwise just enjoyed the beautiful scenery.
The Hamptons are fun! Let’s see, normally I’m working crazy hours in SF, but last weekend I was in Vegas til Monday and now somehow I’m in Boston. Definitely not normal…
I <3 peanut butter hummus. I'm going to have to make some more soon.
Wow, your church blog is awesome! Its great that God can use your social networking skills/blogosphere savvy!
Sounds like a glamorous day at work!
I don’t think I ever ate SALAD for breakfast, but I have many a time eaten ice cream or other baked goods. In high school I would eat ice cream for breakfast pretty much every day, because I figured I’d burn the calories during the day. What a genius I was.
That’s so cool that you’re blogging for your church. And that hummus looks so good. I definitely need to make that soon. Peanut butter + hummus sounds like a whole obsession waiting to happen!
I just got back to the States from three weeks in Scotland yesterday…does that count as a break in the norm? Haha.
Oh man, I can’t do weird food for breakfast. My tastebuds are SO picky when I wake up. I have no appetite for anything beyond the standard American breakfast fare-eggs, fruit, cereal, pastries, toast, pancakes, waffles, French toast: I can do all of those. Anything beyond that though: no. It does not happen. I also can’t drink anything but orange juice and/or tea in the morning. Milk, any other kind of juice, even water all tastes disgusting to me in the morning. I’m so weird
I’ve been known to eat leftover spaghetti for breakfast. Cheeseburgers, too. Of course, cold pizza makes my list. All this was before I started working nights and inverted my body clock!
Love that you are blogging for your church! That is amazing!
My breakfasts are always super typical - oatmeal, overnight oats, or a yogurt mess.
So cool that you got to go to the Hamptons! I’ve wanted to go ever since seeing the characters on Gossip Girl go there haha!
What a goorgg church! My friend was talking about the hamptons today, and said that if you go to church there then you can see Alec Baldwin:)
I love me some salad but I don’t know whether it would cut it for breakfast! I am normally quite rigid with my eating habits and can’t stop thinking in calories! These last few days I have managed to escape it and I love it- it’s so liberating to trust yourself especially as I don’t WANT a calorie-controlled mindset to be the norm anymore!!
I love using your skills for your church. It is a great way to put all the fabulous things you can do for the best cause…Jesus. I started our church’s facebook page and am working on possible doing twitter as well. It’s the way today works.
And totally WFM is all about the salad bar…even for breakfast. I had that once at Fitbloggin
I love changing things up, it keeps life interesting
I think I might be the opposite…I eat breakfast for every other meal of the day:) Since it is summer and I’ve been traveling my schedule is never actually “normal” and I’m trying to get used to that!
I usually eat breakfast foods for just about every meal…I don’t know what got into me!
I love it when I get to take little “field trips” from work
Although, I must admit…mine are never that fun!
hi sweetie! Your pics are great! (your header is the best!)…..and yeah, I’ve had a bit of a different routine recently. Been rehearsing a lot for a dance festival but hopefully back to normal now. I like my little routine
thanks for the kind words, Emma!
xoxo
Oooh, that’s such a cool blogging “gig.” Good for you, Gracie!!!
I stayed at a hotel on Friday night,so for continental breakfast yesterday I ate an english muffin with jelly and half of a cream cheese muffin. Definitely not how I eat normally eat, but it sounded good at the time, ha.
HI! I’m a reader who lives in the Hamptons!
Just commenting to tell you that you JUST missed Jill and Bobby Zarin in Sag Harbor, I saw them on my way home from work this afternoon!
I hope you enjoyed your quick visit!
Hi Janet!! LOL - too funny - keep the RHNY updates comin’
(seriously, hahaha)
Loved your area, hoping to be back there very very soon!!
I think it’s so neat that you’re blogging for your church! Just checked out their website, and it looks like a pretty fab place.
I’ve definitely had salads for breakfast. There was a time when I ate only by the “rules,” but now when a craving hits, I just go with it!
Your church seems great. I wish I had known about it when I was there earlier this year, I would have loved to have checked it out. Oh well, I guess I will just have to visit NYC again in the near future.
