lunch at nanoosh.

Ever since enjoying a late night hummus meal with Gabriela a few weeks ago, I’ve been craving the chickpea mush like it’s nobody’s business. So when I took notice of Nanoosha Mediterranean hummus counter – the other day, I knew I’d have to give it a try.

(…I was also slightly drawn to the awkward name that happens to rhyme with mush. Just saying.)

Nanoosh

Side note: I kind of get a kick out of the fact that there are restaurants/eateries based entirely around a dip. But, considering how delicious and versatile hummus is, I certainly can’t complain.

Nanoosh’s menu includes all of the lunchtime favorites – soup, salads, and wraps. Since I was hoping to consume as much hummus as humanly possible in one sitting, though, I went with one of their hummus plates.

Hummus Chicken

That would be the “Hummus Chicken” – hummus topped with all natural chicken, organic onions, and tahini. Served with a warm pita.

The short version: phenom.

The long(er) version: perfectly creamy hummus, tender pulled chicken, and a meal that was easily the highlight of my afternoon.

Nanoosh has four NYC locations: West Side, East Side, Village, and Midtown. Their prices are pretty decent too, with every dish clocking in under $9. A new favorite of mine, for sure.

I LOVE hummus.. I like to eat it with carrots mostly.. but sometimes I mix it up with other veggies.. or stone wheat crackers. I actually made my own tonight!

I LOVE Nanoosh - I haven’t been to the union square one, but I went to the UES one all the time before it closed. try the pomegranate iced tea, it’s delicious!

Try hummus with Food Should Be Good Multigrain chips! It’s the perfect snack when I crave something salty without feeling too guilty after.

I’ve tried making hummus twice. Once a traditional hummus, the other a pumpkin hummus. Both I thought were awful. Either I can’t make hummus or my taste buds just aren’t feeling (tasting?) the hummus.

When I was in NYC a few weeks ago I went to Maoz Vegetarian and had a pita pocket filled with steaming hot falafel balls, eggplant and hummus and OH. MY. GOSH. Gracie if you like falafel you will love it with hummus. It was one of the best quick meals I’ve ever had and they are all over the city!

I love hummus but didn’t really like Nanoosh. The one time I ordered from there the hummus was kind of bland. The pita however was amazingly fluffy and to die for! I agree with Caitlin’s comment above about Maoz. They make a mean falafel!

I eat far too much hummus - I eat it on everything. Currently, I am enjoying one large scoop of tomato basil on my lunch salads.
I have been to the Nanoosh in Union Square a few times. The bf loves the Hummus Nanoosh with ground beef and mushrooms. Also, the tabouleh salad with apple, pomegranate, and mint is really good. I agree with Michelle above - that fluff in the pita is incredible!
