life lately.

Hello, sweet ones!

For some reason I’m feeling all sorts of dear diary, so here’s a post straight from my heart; how I’ve been feeling, what I’ve been up to, yada yada.

As I mentioned yesterday, my mom came up for a short visit. We had a great time! We followed our typical routine of running errands, ordering takeout for dinner, and watching a movie. One of the errands, as you know, was a trip to Ikea. Who doesn’t love pretending that you live in each of those little Ikea houses browsing the Ikea maze?

For dinner we ordered a pizza because a) I’ve been majorly craving my favorite food and b) I got to keep the leftovers (<— a very helpful trick of the trade for my fellow leavers-of-the-nest).

I’ve never been much of a leftovers hoarder, but when your kitchen is so bare that you’ve been eating rice topped with almond butter for almost 2 days straight…

…you’d want pizza leftovers too.

After dinner we watched Inception, which. was. awesome. Such a good film!

I may or may not have had some more crazy dreams last night because of it, but it was worth it.

Mom left this morning, so now I’m working, planning my weekend, baking another batch of blondies, and blogging (clearly). Multitasking at its finest :)

So, there’s one more thing on my mind (which, you may have seen me tweet about) that I wanted to touch on. Depending on how many healthy living blogs you follow, you might have noticed that Women’s Health Magazine is holding a contest to round up new blogs for their “Blogs We Love 2011.” You can best believe that I’ve voted for a few of my favorite blogs, as well as voting once for myself.

I would absolutely love to score a spot on the Women’s Health blogroll, but I always feel weird asking people to vote for me. Even when I’m confident about an accomplishment of mine, there’s something about putting myself out there and asking others to recognize it that makes me feel all sorts of strange and…well, insecure, I guess?

Clearly I’m thinking way too much. And, I came *this* close to deleting that last paragraph because I thought it might seem like I’m begging for some sort of approval or compliments, but that wasn’t my intention at all. This is my intention:

would you guys like, please nominate me?!?!?

Ahem.

Well now that that’s settled, have an outstanding day, will you? LOVE. xoxo G

I’m the same way with IKEA - the scene from (500) Days of Summer where they have a date in the store is one of my favorites!

Good luck girl, I hope you get on the list :)

Haven’t commented in a while, but wanted to say i nominated you because your blog is the kind of “healthy living” blogs i think more people need to read. From your transition from “girl meets health” to now ‘girl meets life’ and all the different topics you talk about, your blog is so relatable and lovely to read. i hope you make it on the list!!

You surely do not need to beg for votes!

BTW, the rice topped with almond butter made me chuckle. I don’t know how many times I’ve come up with some funny combination of the last few items left in my kitchen before grocery shopping time. 😉
