When I’m sick and need to take cold medicine before going to bed, I usually take the daytime stuff. Why? Because in addition to leaving me feeling drowsy the entire next day, nighttime cold medicine gives me the craziest dreams ever.
Take last night, for example. I’m not even going to attempt to explain how, but my dream(s) last night managed to be a combination of the following.
Like I said…I’m not even going to try to explain the dream…but clearly it was quite the strange one.
Do you remember your dreams? What’s the last crazy dream you had??

Angie says
last night i had dreams that i had spiders in my ears and i had to go to the doctor…. not even kidding.. i’m so embarrassed LOL
AHHAAHA oh Gracie- if only i could have snuck into your dream just to try and figure out what the hatoozle was going on!
I typically remember my dreams pretty vividly. My weirdest one was that I was abducted by aliens. It was SO real and when I woke up I immediately threw up and felt really odd. To this day that creep the freak out of me!
One of the most…erm…*disturbing* dreams I had was a couple of years ago.
So in the REAL world, I was in sort of a relationship with a guy that I wasn’t happy with and wanted to get out of. I talked about it with my older brother, who totally supported me in ending the relationship. He then advised me, “You should find a guy like me.”
That night, I dreamt that I married my brother. And it was totally normal and acceptable. And we discussed adopting children. Aghghfghgh. When I woke up, I realized how disgustingly creepy that was.
I guess it’s like Leo said - “Dreams feel real while we’re in them. It’s only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.” Um, yeah.
eeek! disturbing dreams like that are the worst! but, it’s not like we can help it, right?
I am a very active dreamer-if you can imagine it, I’ve probably dreamt about it.
Last night I had a dream I was explaining that some granola bars are fake health food- loaded with sugar and high fructose corn syrup. HAHAHHA.
The fact that you had some Arachnaophia dream in there terrifies me! that movie scared me so much when I was little!
I have definitely dreamed about Jersey Shore before. It made me laugh in the morning.

LOL I love the juxtaposition between Halloween and Dr. 90210.

My dreams are always weird. Once i dreamt that I was chased by giants gingerbread cookies! Not cool :O
lately, I’ve been noticing that my crazy dreams are a mixture of celebrity crushes/favorite actresses, bloggers, and ex boyfriends/fiances.
sometimes I wake up and tell myself I’m never sleeping again.
Jasmine @patchworksoflife says
Oh wow, I can’t even imagine your dream with a mix of all of that! LOL…..I usually can’t remember mine. When I do - they are very odd. I had a zombie dream a month ago where the zombie was chasing me and some child I didn’t know and we ran into Robert Downey Jr. who tried to help us escape, and then my cat some how got infected and tried to bite my ankle. I woke up and she was just sitting on the bed staring at me. Freaky. Apparently I should stop watching zombie movies! lol
HAHAHA!!
Hey Gracie, for V day I made your cake mix chocolate brownies with (pink!) cream cheese frosting and they were TO DIE FOR. Seriously, they are sooo good. Our friends just brought us over like 5 cake mixes (I have no idea why) so I think I’ll make the funfetti ones soon, too!
YAY, so glad you liked ’em!!
xoxo

Hhahaha. Thats so weird. The worst is when you have a really scary dream and it feels so real, that you cant fall back asleep!
Ha, that is insane. I have really weird dreams-and not only when I’m sick.
yeah I say lay off that stuff! lol! Oh dreams can be so crazy, especially the ones that feel real!
I would love to have been in that dream, haha. Last night I had some dream about being on top of a huge boulder and trying to keep a huge horse from falling of it with just my bare strength. Don’t ask me…
I cannot take nighttime meds either - I always am a zombie the next day. Your dream sounds… interesting?
Mandi says
Haha, that sounds like quite the dream. I only remember mine if I sleep in and don’t get up right away, which doesn’t happen too often.
I have been having the CRAZIEST dreams lately! Mine are always a crazy combo too, no worries girl you are not alone. Slash halloween is such a crazy movie! The older ones are the creepiest!
That sounds like a crazy dream! I remember mine when I wake up and fall back asleep- I just had one about 50 cats in my dorm room. It was so strange.
50 cats?! that sounds like a great dream to me 😉
That looks like one hell of dream!
My dreams are so out there….yes.
When i was pregnant though, that’s when they were the craziest! Just total nonsense type stuff!
Kaitlin says
Hahaha! those movies and shows had to of made for at least some what of a hilarious dream. Now, you’ve got me curious about what it was actually about.
I wish I could remember a good dream to share! Doubt it would top yours though! haha
I feel like I need to hear about this dream at some point…
When I was in elementary school I had the same exact dream two or three times a week for probably three months. So weird: I’m flying over a ski resort in the summer when I see my brother down below riding a giant buffalo. He calls me down to get on the buffalo with him, and we gallop up the mountain to a Hooters. Once there, he tethers both me and the buffalo to a tree while he goes inside and eats wings.
Yeah.
wait, whaaaaat?
bahahahahah
weiiiiiird! i hate when i have dreams and wake up the next day feeling like i’m in a fight with that person or had an awkward moment with someone else!
get gabriela to come to long islanddd! we should entice her with a whole foods shopping spree and hot bar date!
Stephanie @ LoveLaughterLight says
I get the same way, Gracie. I cannot fathom ever taking Nyquil again! It gives me such weird dreams-mostly terrifying-and I just can’t take it!
LOL! That sounds like one insane dream!
I haven’t been remembering my dreams lately but if I make an effort to remember my dreams, I usually can.
OMG, I had a dream about Jersey Shore the other night. I don’t even watch that show!
Shannon @ A Better Me says
LOL! I love your blog! I had a dream recently that we had a pet polar bear that miraculously fit in our house. I gave it a dog treat
(which I also gave to the cats in the dream). Dreams are awesome! It amazes me how your mind sorts all that and sticks things together.
Having a polar bear for a pet would be AWESOME!!! 😛
Shannon says
Crazy dreams are awful. You wake up SO unrested! I had a dream the other night that I don’t know if I can explain, but it was basically bugs coming to kill us all. Last night I had a dream that I didn’t get into the grad program at CSU… that was upsetting.
My dreams never make any sense and are generally scary. I’d much rather have a dream free night and wake up feeling refreshed and not perplexed about what my weirdo dreams mean!
Tara says
I don’t think I can even guess what you dreamed about!! I almost always remember mine. I vividly remember one from 6th grade. My science teacher was making us push each other into a furnace. I had to push my crush in, and instead of doing it I ran away. She chased me down the hall throwing butcher knives. Totally random and bizarre…
so crazy!!! I actually have a dream I vividly remember that I had when I was about 4. So weird how that can happen, isn’t it?!
Rachel @ Healthy Teacher says
The other day I dreamed I was a secret super hero cowgirl in my home town trying to catch a shower rapist on the loose.
super hero cowgirl?! sounds like a pretty epic Halloween costume… 😉
I had a dream a few weeks ago that I was running the MTV Challenge (the final challenge) and my team was the cast of jersey shore. And I ran a 28 mile challenge, won with the jersey shore people, and went straight into labor (why i was running 28 miles while I was carrying a baby at 40 weeks…and why i wasn’t showing, i’m not sure)…So, you’re in good company with the crazy mix of TV show dreams:)
Hannah says
I always dream vividly, and remember everything the next morning. I blame my very active imagination. My dreams are really bizarre, but in a weird way make sense in my head, it’s only when I try telling someone about them do they seem extremely complicated.
I love that jersey shore was in your dream, I can only imagine the possibilities there, haha.
hahaha, I always want to tell people about my dreams but no one ever seems to “get it”…or have the slightest amount of interest 😛
lol. well i fell asleep watching ‘The Proposal’ the other night and ended up dreaming that i was in a small row boat out in the middle of the ocean trying to get to Ryan Reynolds in Alaska.
i had a dream the other night in a state of delirium (i’m just finishing up finals week, so i was sleeping maybe 3 hrs a night) that included my producing a commercial for doritos and steak that included a jingle about eating them together. it was so bizzarre that i woke up laughing out loud and still crack up every time i think of it.
