….you have to park at least a half-mile away from any and every store.
…you hear “Jingle Bell Rock” at least 3 times a day. But you don’t mind.
…you carry a box of Godiva chocolates in your handbag.
…and utilize it as mid-shopping fuel.
…you say to your friends, “his breath smelled like candy canes!”
…you don’t think it’s fair that you have to work while students get the entire week off. It’s not like any work gets done anyway.
…you justify buying yet another new pair of boots by saying it’s a gift to yourself.
…but the heels you bought don’t need justification because they’re just that outstanding.
…saying “Merry Christmas” and then realizing maybe you should’ve said “happy holidays” and then hoping you didn’t offend anyone but then thinking “I wouldn’t be offended if someone wished me a happy Hanukkah” then finally deciding that trying to be PC all the time is too. darn. exhausting.
…you don’t eat dinner until 8pm because you had to hit just one more store. It was worth the wait.
…you realize at the end of the day that while all of that stuff is fun, it shouldn’t become the foundation of this holiday. To me, Jesus is the reason for the season. And I want to keep Christ in Christmas.
Could I do without the cheesy cliches? Probably.
But I won’t be ashamed of what I believe in.

You know it’s Christmas when _______ ?

You know it’s Christmas when I refuse to listen to anything but Christmas music.
HOWEVER, I am highly disappointed that my house contains ZERO Christmas cookies. None.
Fixing that on Friday.
xoxox <3
You know it’s Christmas when eating cookies for breakfast is acceptable.
“To me, Jesus is the reason for the season. And I want to keep Christ in Christmas.”
Amen!
Those boots are SO CUTE! Where did you get them?
Macy’s!
I know it’s Christmas when I start having afternoon naps to try and catch up on my lack of sleep from studying and working during the term!
I agree with Amanda though, I love those boots! Riding boots are so fashionable in the UK right now, I wear mine all the time
.
Merry Christmas xoxo
When I turn on the TV to watch Will and Grace reruns on Lifetime and every other commercial screams, “It’s Fa-la-la-la Lifetime.”
hahahaha
I completely agree with you about keeping Christ in Christmas! It truly is the meaning for the season (even if that does sound super cliche hah). But about you buying yourself a gift…yesterday I went to Ann Taylor Loft, which is dangerous when the have a 40% off EVERYTHING sale. Long story short, I ended up buying 2 of the same sweaters..one for me and one for my mama. The ladies in the store had to convince me that it was ok haha!
I hate worrying if I offended someone when I say ‘Merry Christmas’, and I, too, decided- screw it. It’s what I say. Deal with it
You know it’s Christmas when… you don’t mind watching a movie over and over again that you already know every word to.. like Love Actually, Christmas Vacation, Elf…
You know its Christmas when I make my ringtone, that RIDICULOUSLY good Nsync Christmas song, hahA! =)
Love those boots! You need some new swag for your move anyways!
i heard godiva is really good-heavenly…
Spot on, hunny. In fact, I refuse to write X-Mas (other than right here!) because it takes Christ out of the equation. Merry Christmas TO YOU.
You know it’s Christmas when my pants start to feel snug because I’ve been living on sugar!! That’s what the other 11 months are for, right?!
You know it’s Christmas when you’re broke and you don’t mind because you’re so happy to see people open up their presents (yes, it’s already started for me
.
GUACAMOLE!! Heck yes I’m so glad you went for the double. Amazing, no? And I think the fact that you carry Godiva in your purse makes us soulmates.
We can both wear our new heels out in the cityyyyy. Mike did real good picking mine out…
GABS. My heels are out of control. As in…I’m pretty much 6 feet tall in them. hahahaha. SOON!

I love those boots - you’re going to rock them like crazy!
Hahaha I love that you use those Godiva chocolates as shopping fuel!
You know it’s Christmas when my dad starts singing his butchered versions of Christmas songs all day long.
You know it’s Christmas when…you’ve fallen on your butt because of all the ice and snow that comes between you and your car! But you still smile anyway!
haha omg your point about trying to be PC! I completely understand. I think a few years ago being PC was taken to the extreme, but I think people are lightening up on it just a bit, cause it really ruins the holiday spirit!
all you want to do is bake, and you have so many sweets lying around that you don’t even want to eat them anymore.
You know its Christmas when you can have 4 glasses of eggnog and call it a meal! Protein right?!
Have a delicious Christmas!
I love the boots! I think I brown is the only color currently missing from my boots collection (that’s a lie but I still want them!) You know it’s Christmas when your boss goes around the floor with a ridiculous smile on his face and you swear you heard him singing jingle bells!!
You know it’s Christmas when you don’t think playing The Chirstmas Story for 24 hours straight is excessive
I think the last statement is the best one. Cliche statements, yes. But the truth and something good to share.
I love your little posts like this. Very fun!
Love that you want to keep Christ in Christmas.. reason for the season right!?
Love the new boots. Chocolate as a snack = great idea!
I agree. Um, there wouldn’t BE a Christmas without Christ.
LOVE the chocolate in the purse!
You know it’s christmas when Home Alone is on Tv
One of my students bought me a box of Godiva and I put it in my purse. Just had a piece as mid-shopping fuel after work today
Glad to know it’s not just me!!
You know it’s Christmas when you eat 100 cookies and still feel great the next day
And keeping the CHRIST in Christmas- AMEN to that!
lmho, love the “your breath smells like candy canes!” one!
Hmm…You know it’s Christmas when having a live (or fake) pine tree in the middle of your living room is not only acceptable, but it’s then decorated and loved.
I’m glad someone noticed that one, hahahaha.
“To me, Jesus is the reason for the season. And I want to keep Christ in Christmas.” Amen!!

I know it’s Christmas when there are way to many people staying at my parents’ house so I escape downstairs to watch Elf with my sisters just like years ago when we were younger!
You know it’s Christmas when your dining room table is covered in wrapping paper, presents, and ribbon.
Hahaha I love this post!
Those boots are adorable…where from?!
And by the way, you must try the Trader Joe’s “Chocolate Palette” dark chocolate…it comes with 7 or 8 different squares from around the world! I tried the Guatemala flav last night and it was SO GOOD.
MERRY CHRISTMAS GRACIE : )
Oh, and you know it’s Christmas when serious traffic takes over your hometown 24/7. Every shopping mall. Every grocery store. Every STREET!!! It’s madness, but I love this time of year nonetheless!
