as seen on tv.

I’ve never been one to hide the fact that I love watching television. Or, as I like to call it – my window to the world. Somehow I still manage to remain productive and active, so what’s the harm?

Generally I try to click through television “fluff” like infomercials, but some of them are just so irresistible. I mean, let’s be honest here – I know I’m not the only one who has seriously considered buying a Silver Sonic XL.

Luckily for you, I have bought my fair share of As Seen On TV products (most of which I didn’t actually order via TV, but that’s besides the point). Here are some that are worth investing in, and others that…aren’t.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well the Ped Egg actually works. It might not compare to the overall experience of getting a pedicure at the nail salon, but when it comes to shaving dead skin off the bottom of your feet, it does get the job done. Grade: A.

The good news is that Smooth Away works, and it works well. It left my legs feeling super soft (although, what else would you expect from sand-papering your skin?). The bad news, though, is that it takes about 10 minutes and a decent amount of elbow grease to get results. I can’t say I’ll never use Smooth Away again, but it won’t be replacing a razor any time soon. Grade: B –

I won’t sugarcoat it – I hate Wonder Hangers. I thought they’d help organize my closet, but instead they made it even more difficult to shuffle through my mess of a wardrobe. They didn’t save an ounce of space, either. Grade: D

Other infomercial purchases I’ve succumb to?

And last but not least…

…and yes, I do still listen to that CD from time to time. NBD.

  • What about you? Any interesting infomercial buys?

It’s actually pretty great!! My dad and I ordered it years ago after watching the infomercial for like an hour hahaha. I don’t use it *too* often, but it does work as well as they make it seem on TV :)

I am totally with you- I bought the Ped Egg too and I bought the Magic Bullet when it first came out. I’ve always wanted the xpress 101- worth it? Haha! I have an infommercial addiction.

Haha! I feel like such a nerd when I get sucked in to infomercials!! My favorite is the shake weight because it looks so so wrong!!! I get sucked in to watching the fitness ones the most, and I’ve bought P90X and pilates from those :)

BAHAHA! I totally bought the Snuggie (pink!) at CVS last winter from seeing it on TV. I also had the Magic Bullet (which sadly died) that I registered for as a wedding gift. That thing was bombastic! Gosh, I used it so many times a day…which I guess is why the motor ran out HAHA! I think I want to purchase another one, just because it’s fantastic for single serving shakes.

I also swear by BareMinerals and they have infomercials, though those aren’t cheesy at all!

Yes! A pink snuggie! I have huggable hangers, I bought them at bb&beyond and tj maxx, but I think they are sold on tv too.. they are AMAZING. They barely take up any space and clothes don’t slip off of them :)

I have those stupid hangers too. Stuff falls off, gets wrinkled and just packs more crap than I really have any right to own. I am a sucker for infomercials and QVC, too! My Friday nights used to consist of watching them, reading trashy magazines and painting my nails. I am so cool.

Haha I’ve always wandered about smooth away. I’m glad that I didn’t ever purchase it. I do have the GT Express, but I can’t say that I’ve ever used it. Im ashamed :) I try not to watch infomercials but every once in a while I find one that I just have to try.

Thanks for the comment! I agree with you 100%!
I love- and I mean LOVE, infomercials. It’s actually a problem. I’ve gotten it under “control” but it was pretty bad. I’d literally run to the gym so I could hog 2 TVs, and watch 2 infomercials simultaneously. I love the Montel Health Emulsifier! Magic Bullet, magic bullet platinum pro, Magic Bullet Express food processor/juicer, Windsor Pilates and I LOVE watching the GT express! Any cooking gadget infomercial is so much fun. I can say for certain the the Sports TSN football watching men DID NOT like me on Sunday’s. I don’t think they fully appreciated the fun of infomercial watching! lol
