Girl Meets Health

just dance.

In addition to reading my Bible, prayer, and venting to my momma G, I have a form of therapy that I engage in quite often. The best part about this therapy is that it’s fun, energizing, and could even count as exercise. So, what is it?

DANCING.

I’m not talking about dancing at a club or a bar. I’m talking about dancing in the house, in the car…wherever! You can be alone, with other people, or with your pet cats. You don’t have to know a single dance move. Heck, you don’t even need music. As Gaga would say – just dance!

Can you remember the last time you broke into a random burst of dancing? If you can, then you probably remember bursting out laughing at yourself too. That’s why dancing is such a great release – it forces you to act silly and stop being so darn uptight. And trust me, sometimes I need all the help I can get in that department.

Sometimes I’ll start randomly dancing just to make my mom laugh. Sometimes I dance in the car – even when I know other people are watching. And sometimes I go all Cameron Diaz in “The Holiday” and sing/dance to my favorite song all by myself. I can honestly say that it’s those moments where I appreciate the simple things and feel a sense of clarity and *fun* in the midst of life’s craziness.

So break out that robot move you’ve secretly always wanted to try. Soldier Boy it up. You can even fist pump, for all I care. But if you’re feeling in need of a release or just a good laugh, I give you permission to dance your booty off.

I’m pretty sure you’ve already seen the video below, but it just seemed so appropriate to add with this post :)

Gotta run, lovebugs. I have some exciting plans for this Monday…but more on that later. Ta! xoxo G
