This was going to be another style post. And I guess it still is, sort of.
That’s mostly because…well, it’s “easy” content. Shoot some photos, say what I’m wearing, and boom there’s a blog post.

But let’s be real - GML was never and will never be a fashion blog. I’m too dramatic/too much of a rambler to keep things that focused (ha). Not to mention I just don’t have that fashion-passion that so many (amazing) bloggers have.
So here’s that honesty part. Sometimes - a lot of times, lately - I struggle with GML. I don’t do it for the income (anymore), and I don’t fit perfectly into a niche. I love blogging about food and fitness and being silly and being serious and makeup and *takes breath* - that can get a little confusing, no?

I also have this problem where sometimes I like to be open and transparent, and other times I desperately crave as much privacy as possible (which makes blogging + working in social media an interesting gig, to say the least).
I’ve gone through phases like this in the past, and I always get over them…so apologies if this isn’t the first tantrum you’ve seen me, have, ha!.

I’m not quite sure where I’m going with this, other than to lean on that open/transparent side with you all. I never want to forget that my readers (you!) are actual people who have followed my journey for a while - some of you since way back in 2010 - and I never want to take that for granted. You’re truly like friends to me!
I can tell you that I’m not going anywhere, but I may just test the waters with some new things here and there. I’ve always hated when blogging started feeling more like a job, so perhaps less “official” content and more rambling is in order 😉

On that note, I might as well still share this looksie - no?
kimono - Necessary Clothing
tank - Target
jean shorts - Top Shop
necklace - Speakable
sunglasses - Quay Australia

What’s your favorite type of blog to follow (fashion, health, beauty, etc.)?

One thing I like best about your blog is that you DON’T stick to one genre! I love reading all the different posts because they are all genuine and real. Sometimes I think bloggers can start taking things ( themselves? ) a bit too seriously haha I think it should be something you have fun doing. But if you take a break from GML, just promise it’s not permanent
Thank you so much for that, Tamara! Hehe, no breaks in the foreseeable future 😉
girlfriend! Truer words have never been spoken. I completely understand where you’re coming from, since LOB has turned into the biggest, oddest hodgepodge of the century. I’ll echo the above sentiments, though. My favorite blogs are the ones that don’t “pick a side.” I appreciate the mix, and you’re great. Go on witcho bad self.
xo!
Thanks girl! I definitely feel like you’re one of the fellow bloggers I can relate to most. Hodgepodges FTW!
I mostly read health / fitness blogs, since that is what I write about, but I would hate to miss out on a few fashion ones! Yours definitely included.
Sometimes it is the only thing that motivates me to change out of the leggings and converse and put on a real outfit, hah!
I LOVE that you post a bunch of different things. Honestly, some blogger can’t get away with it, but I look at your blog as “Gracie’s genre”… Honestly! I love your blog and I love you and everything you post- you have that special touch!
haha, I love that! Thanks girl
xoxo
I’ve been reading your blog since 2012, and I love your rambling posts! Your blog inspired me to start one of my own, your diverse content is what I love. Snippets of silliness and real life is what keeps me coming back here. Keep it up, your blog rocks!
Ah, thanks for being such a longtime reader! So glad that I was able to be of inspiration to you <3 <3
Random, rambling blog posts are actually some of my favorites. It helps me see the person behind the blog vs. just the content that is put forth daily.
I really like your rambling posts!
Reader since 2010 and the “Girl Meets Health” days
I think your authenticity is the best thing about your blog and the fact you don’t contrive posts to fit a genre. Would love to see more honest writing from you in this space. Call it rambling if you prefer, but sometimes the unpolished thoughts are the most real. Would love to see more of the “life” part of Girl Meets Life.
Shelly, this comment and your encouragement means SO much to me. Thank you for being such a longtime reader - you’ve definitely seen me go through a lot, haha. You rock. xoxo
I often feel the same way about my posts and content and (while I can appreciate fashion blogs) think posts with a person behind them are more engaging and interesting. It’s frustrating that we feel forced into categories and to find labels even in blogging.
Graice, I just want to say that i absolutely love all of your posts, no matter how rambly or different they are. i love that you DONT fit into a niche. it keeps it interesting and i feel like i know more about you than some other bloggers. i’m not a blogger, just a reader but yours is easily one of my favorites.
keep it up, little pretty lady!
hp
Thank you so much for that, Holly! xoxo
Thank you for your honesty. Like many others, I like reading your ‘rambling’ posts. Surprisingly, I never thought of your blog as a strictly fashion blog, but as a ‘here’s my life’ blog. And that’s the way I like it!
Thanks for that encouragement, Jackie! <3
It’s called a lifestyle blog. Keep doing what you do.
xo
XOXO
while all of these photos are lovely, the third one, the closeup with your necklace is gorgeous. you do you, lady. xx
Thanks girl
I started reading back when you were Girl Meets Health (you and pbfingers were the first HLBs I started reading regularly!) and I admit, I loved those days
That said, you and your life have changed a LOT since then! So it makes sense that your blog has too. I’m still really enjoying it and agree with someone above who said it’s the “gracie genre’
And I will forever be indebted to you for the cake batter blondies. OMG.
hehe, thanks so much for this comment, Lauren! and thank you for following me for such a long time, despite all of my crazy life changes, haha. xoxo
I love your blog, so you just do what makes you happy and you have us here to support you. I actually just started a new blog since I felt like my old one wasn’t working…it just didn’t fit my life! And I feel like an entirely different person since I published my first post today. I feel like it is more free to cover everything I want to talk about. And that’s all that matters!
Congrats on the new blog, that’s awesome! xoxo
thissss. i ended up abandoning blogging for a few years because i couldn’t fit into a niche and i felt like i was being too fake (i was!) because i wasn’t really being myself. i was being what i thought a blogger in the niche i tried to fit into should be. and it wasn’t fun and i hated writing posts and it was all just ughhh.
so this time around my deal with myself is that i’m just going to talk about the things i love and be myself and fuck it. whatever happens happens but at least i’m having fun with it.
xo, allie

YES! I feel like over the years blogging has changed so much…in some ways for the better, but personally I prefer the old days when it was for FUN! Good for you for starting a new blog
Thanks for this comment! xoxo
I have to agree with everyone else - I love that you don’t stick to one thing, you try new things, ”test the waters” etc - because I feel thats how we all are too! Especially women in their 20 -30 ‘s , everyone is unique and interested in many things, trying new things, experiencing life in all its ups and downs - its fun to see your thoughts/experiences and share that with you! =)
I really like that you keep it interesting and change things up so often! I also love these random “tantrum” posts too I can weirdly relate to them! My favorite posts from you are dating, restaurant reviews and fitness! As a girl also living in NYC, your advice helps so much on those topics! Keep it up Gracie, your blog is amazing =)
I’m always rambling about anything and everything over on my blog. Glad you’re following your heart when it comes to blogging and not just forcing yourself to stick to one thing or another.
Beautiful look. I love your blog.
Honestly, I love blogs like yours the most! Today, there are so many content sources being thrown at us from all angles, and it’s a breath of fresh air to read some ramblings, see what you’re up to, and think about something that you’ve been pondering long enough that it prompted you to write a post. Keep it coming, and we’ll keep reading!
