Every so often I clean out and re-stash my massive handbag. I have my smaller purses that I carry when I’m out at night, but during the day I’m carrying around pretty much enough to survive on for three days.
In addition to the normal things (wallet, water bottle, iPad) here are a few things I always have on me + some new favorites.
1) Lavender essential oil - I just love the scent of lavender, and it has really great calming effects. Living in NYC, that definitely comes in handy.
2) Juicy Fruit bubble gum - because I’m five.
3) January issue of Vogue - I’m typically not the biggest fan of Vogue, but I loveeee Sienna Miller so will get just about any magazine she’s on the cover of.
4) Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo (powder) - I SWEAR by this stuff. It’s the best. Their spray is great too, but I think the powder works much better.
5) Moleskin daily planner - simple and small enough to carry around all the time. I know it’s 2015 and Google calendar exists buuuut this is just more straightforward for me.
6) Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream - I have this thing where I cannot stand the feeling of dry hands, so I must have lotion on me at all times. And since I’m obsessed with Clarins lately, this is my new fave.
7) mirror compact - because the one time you don’t check your teeth is when there’s going to be a big piece of spinach front and center.
8) MetroCards (for the subway) - I’m that person always swiping multiple cards, and losing multiple cards.
9) KIND Almond & Coconut bar - because hangry isn’t a good look on me.
10) NARS Belle Du Jour lipstick - thee best nude shade out there.

What are some of your handbag essentials?

Amen. Hangry is no good look — I love the dark chocolate and sea salt one!
xo
This winter has been SO cold, so EOS lip balm, for sure!
I totally got the moleskin thanks to your YouTube vid suggestion and I’m loving it! Although next time I will wait a few days and get it from Barnes and nobles for like 7 bucks instead of 20 because I’m super cheap .
Btw Gracie, do you have recommendations for bible apps for people new to the faith? I had downloaded she reads truth but it just has the bible text with no interpretations. It’s hard for me to get a meaningful reading out of just the literal meaning of words, I feel like I need some contextual interpretation but don’t know where to go for that.
yesss isn’t it the best?! glad you took my rec 😀
Hmm as for Bible apps - I would check out Jesus Calling! It’s a daily devotional - super short but really awesome and easy to understand
Are you reading the Bible as well? Trust me - I know it can be super confusing and hard to understand, especially if you’re new to your faith! But God can really speak through Scripture in ways like nothing else. A good translation that’s easier to understand is The Living translation. There’s also a great program (I think it’s probably an app!) called Bible In A Year that makes it really easy to follow. OR you could even get started somewhere like the Psalms, or the New Testament gospels
Sorry for the novel, haha!
Hope that helps! Love that you’re growing in your faith - that’s so great
Definitely let me know if you have any other questions. xoxo
i always love peeking into what other people have in their bags! i always carry some eye drops and extra contacts, food of some sort, and hand sanitizer in my bag!
oh yes, gotta have the hand sanitizer at all times!
Ohh I love What’s In My Bag posts in mags so this is a fun idea for a blog post! I really like the Oscar Blandi spray but have never tried the powder, I need to get on that! I always have a bar in my bag too, and no matter how small the bag, multiple lip options, haha I have a hard time narrowing it down! I’ll have to check out that Nars shade though!
I love seeing what others deem necessary to lug around. I have quite the size for my everyday bag, but it honestly holds everything! Some of my “always items” (other than wallet, phone & a waterbottle), are EOS medicated lip balm, hand cream by Neutrogena, pens, planner (I got one from A Beautiful Mess - love!), and hand sanitizer spray!
my friend just got me a Dolly Moo roll-on perfume oil called Flower Goddess that is quite possibly the best thing i’ve ever smelled in my entire life. i can’t explain how amazing this thing is — definitely become my newest handbag essential! i always have my Citibike fob, deodorant, Burts Bees chapstick, a Metrocard and hair ties as well.
