IT IS WELL {WITH MY SOUL}
I mentioned a few weeks ago how my word of the year is SIMPLIFY, and since then I’ve really been trying to focus more on getting my mind in the right place before rushing into the day ahead. I’ve always tried to squeeze in productive mornings when I could, but lately I’ve made it an every day practice of being even more intentional with how I spent the first hour or two of my day.
Here are my top tips for making the most out of your morning. Whether you implement one or all six, I think you might find them helpful in your own life as well!

IT IS WELL {WITH MY BODY}
I haven’t made mention of it here on GML yet, but a few months ago I started getting acupuncture for some hormonal issues I’ve dealt with for over 10 years. Through the process I’ve noticed that a lot of people have no idea how acupuncture actually works.
While there’s a lot more to it than just this, I thought I’d share this brief video where my doctor (Jingduan Yang) explains what acupuncture is in under 2 minutes. He does a great job of summarizing the general idea.
(Side note - I was thinking of planning my full acupuncture story soon. Is that something you’d be interested in?)

Do you practice any of the morning rituals I suggested? What are some of yours?

I’d love to hear your accupuncture story! I don’t know much about acupuncture in general so it would be interesting to learn more about it!
Okay cool, I’m thinking I’ll share it soon!
Hey Gracie,
I was wondering what brand of green juice you buy in grocery stores. I was drinking fresh juice all weekend but during the week I don’t have time to make juice in the mornings. I bought a green juice at Starbucks today for almost $6, which is a little pricey, but totally worth it to me. Anyways, your thoughts are appreciated! Good luck with the snow storm! -Carrie
Hi Carrie! I’m super picky when it comes to pre-made green juice because a lot of them can have wonky ingredients and added sugar. So I make sure to check the ingredients and opt for “cold pressed” if at all possible. I’m not sure where you live, but here in New York there are a lot of juiceries that have the cold pressed juices, so I go for those. I actually don’t really get juice from the grocery store :/ If you don’t have time to make juice I would definitely suggest making smoothies! I use my NutriBullet to make smoothies (using the recipe I talk about in the vlog) and it takes under a minute
oh my gosh! Thanks for replying! I just moved out to San Diego from the East coast and the pressure to stay in shape is fierce! I am going to search for cold juice pressed places near my work. Thanks for the advice!
you’re so welcome! Enjoy the warm weather for me

Would LOVE to hear about your experience with acupuncture. I, too, have had hormone issues over the years, and have always wondered if acupuncture could be useful.
Also - could you do a tutorial on how you did your eye makeup in the video? It looks awesome!
Thanks girl! Yes - i’ll jot that down for a future vlog
as for my acupuncture story - look out for it later today or tomorrow!
i’ve also recently started accupuncture (in nyc) for some hormonal issues so would definitely be interested in hearing your experiences with it!
sharing it today or tomorrow !
Great tips! I love journaling and reading my Bible in the morning. with a side of coffee, it is the perfect way to start, and it sets a good tone for the rest of my day! I also love to go for a walk and listen to a sermon if I have time.
Hi Gracie! I’ve been reading up on accupuncture during the last few weeks, and it’s definitely something I’m strongly considering trying. Please consider sharing your insight! Great post.
Sharing my story later today or tomorrow
Love all of these - so great. So true it sets the tone for your day and I think your outlook/attitude. I love writing out actual lists
I have been referred to accupuncture and am thinking about it - so would love to hear your journey/thoughts!
Really enjoy your day in the life posts, these, and any experiences/advice on dating (in the world of social media!)
xoxo
Thanks girl! I definitely want to share more about dating
SOON!
I do a lot of these in the morning! This was my habit focus in January, it makes SUCH a huge difference to have some “me time” before the day begins!
I love this “it is well” series. I have a tattoo on my wrist that says “it is well”
ah, I love that!
Love this video! You are so personable and it’s fun to hear you sharing your tips! I am not a morning person but I love all these ideas! I make a green smoothie almost every morning and love starting my day with some greens! I also have a mountain long to-do list going but what a great idea to bookmark a few things to get done that day! I’m definitely going to adopt that! And love your heart for God and seeing you share your faith- I’m sure you are having an impact on so many people! I do my devos and such at night but for the past week have been trying to start my day with one before I check my email! It’s definitely been a challenge but I’m really trying to commit to it!
Thanks so much for the encouragement! Really means a lot
xoxo
I’m definitely interested in your acupuncture story! Especially if it’s something you have noticed a difference with.
I would love to hear your acupuncture story! I make my bed first thing in the morning too. It feels so much better getting in at night that way!
I try to have a morning prayer time and scripture reading, that definitely helps start my day off on the right foot.
I feel so good when I make my bed! I don’t do it often, but it’s something that I want to start making a habit. I like journalling too! I’ve journaled for as long as I can remember, I like reading through old entries to see how I’ve grown in writing and myself. Hope you have a good day Gracie!
Yes - reading back old journal entries is so cool/helpful to reflect on!
definitely interested in the acupuncture story. i used to get it for similar reasons!
Gracie - these It Is Well Posts - they are soooo good! I love them and am so proud of you
