style: kickin’ it.

Unless you’ve been living under a (Pinterest-less) rock, you’ve probably noticed that sneakers have made quite the comeback recently. For a while it seemed sneakers (or tennis shoes, depending on where you live) were reserved only for athletic wear, but lately they’ve pushed boots and flats out of the way as a go-to for a casual-chic daytime look.

I recently saw a fashion blogger rocking some old school Adidas and loved the look, so I set out to find a pair of my own. I tried about three different stores only to find the newer designs. I headed directly to the actual Adidas store in Soho convinced they’d have what I was looking for, and even THEY didn’t have the classic design in women’s!

BUT – they did have what I was looking for…in the kid’s section.

Adidas Classic Samba shoes

That’s right – these Adidas Classic Samba shoes are a boy’s size 6 (I’m a women’s 8).

I couldn’t believe how great they fit, AND they were about 1/2 the cost of the women’s shoes. That’s a #TrendyNotSpendy win, right there.

This is totally one of my not-so-secret shoe secrets! I love checking out the kids section; try the kids section of Aldo (usually just at outlets), that’s where I got my absolutely favourite pair of flats for about 60% less than the exact same pair in the ladies section.

Haha that’s great you found them in the kids’ section! I’m a size 8 too so now I’ll know what boy’s size to look for if I ever need to wander out of the women’s section. :)

I’m totally a fan of this… and might have to go find some boys’ Sambas soon. My sister had a pair of those (with tie dye laces) growing up, and I was always a little jealous of them. And I’m a size 8 as well — so it would be perfect! LOVE how you styled them.
