Let’s be real – going to the Halloween store and picking up a slutty French maid costume for $75 is so 2007.
I’m not saying you can’t look hot on Halloween…let’s not pendulum swing here. But we can at least try to be a bit more creative, yes?
There are so many ways to put together a fun and creative costume without breaking the bank, and this year I’m all about focusing on makeup. What’s great about focusing on makeup as the star of your costume is that you can really keep your actual outfit pretty simple, so you can either a) wear clothes you already own or b) if you do have to buy something, make it clothes you can at least wear again.
These days with Pinterest and YouTube, you can find some great tutorials for how to do fun and creative makeup for Halloween. Some of my favorite looks this year are:
doll face
pop art
Queen of Hearts
mermaid
cat
dummy
Maleficent
broken porcelain doll
Twiggy
And then of course, if you want to keep it REALLY simple, you can do a simple vampire look (like I did the other day for a Red Carpet Manicure photo). All you need is some fake blood and a steady hand.
The key is to apply a glob to let the fake blood naturally drip, rather than trying to paint it on.
Matching mani optional 😉

What Halloween makeup/costumes are you loving for this year?

so rad! I can’t apply eyeshadow without looking like a clown / vampire… so maybe halloween inspired makeup is secretly my calling.
every year i say i’d want to try the comic make-up because it looks so fun!
i also love the super artistic costume type make-up faces with lots of beautiful colors like peacock, butterfly, etc.!
i’m ALL about the creative costumes! i’m either going to do a couples costume with my BF (him Dalmatian, me cruella) or just going solo as frida! gotta love the flower crowns and hilarious unibrow 😀
Oooo I love the simple cat look.
haha cute ideas! Love your lipstick!
