It’s not too soon to bring out the summer clothes…right?

I kid. Sort of. When I get bored of my winter clothes, I like bringing out summer rompers/shorts and “winterizing” them with tights, boots, and a long sweater.

romper: H&M. sweater: Macy’s. boots: Etienne Aigner. watch: Nixon.

And of course, I wouldn’t leave the house without rockin’ Speakable :) I layered DREAMER with some of my other favorite necklaces.

fun.

Last night I met up with my good friend Rachel for dinner to chat and prepare for our NEW APARTMENT. That’s right, say hello to my new roommate, whom I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of!

(Rachel also has a new blog, check out A Life Feast)

I haven’t gone into much detail yet about the move because I wanted to wait until it was a sure thing, and…well, it’s a sure thing now! I’ve been living in midtown for about two years and dying to move downtown, and I finally am. Not only that, but it’s pretty much our dream neighborhood. January 29th can’t come soon enough!

food.

Rachel and I met up for dinner at one of my favorites, Westville. I always get a combo of the four market sides there, and this time was no different.

I went with sautéed kale + shallots, roasted butternut squash, fried plantains, and roasted honey dijon brussels sprouts.

Rachel got the market sides too, so we had quite the veggie feast going on.

faith.

As someone who is quick to go to my confidants before God (hi mom and Jessi :)), this was convicting and comforting at the same time. It’s pretty incredible that I can go directly to the God of the universe in time of need…

Are you a fan of “winterizing” spring/summer clothes?
Any fun plans for the weekend ahead?

I always feel convicted about confiding in friends before asking God’s comfort. It feels so much easier to find a friend, even though I know God is always right there waiting for me!

I love your winterized summer outfit! This is inspiring me to go home and make up my own!
Long weekend ahead but no huge plans. More than likely will be crossing off seeing a couple movies that have received Oscar nominations. Hope you have a good weekend!

I absolutely love your layered necklaces! That’s a trend that I’ve really been wanting to incorporate more often- it adds such a fun touch to any outfit!
And your dinner looks delicious. I go to a restaurant in West Hollywood called Real Food Daily that has a similar “mix & match” veggies option. I love it!

Hi! So I’ve been reading your blog since the GMH days and have loved your style and perspective on life every step of the way — I recently got a 30% discount code in the mail for juices from JuiceGeneration based out of NYC….the shipping cost is too much to send it all the way to Dallas but I know you like green/veggie juices and thought maybe you might like the discount since you could pick it up locally in NYC without having to pay for shipping. If you interested or know a friend in the city who might like to use it, just let me know and thanks for publishing and maintaining such an amazing blog! Much love sent from your readers in Texas!

Katie, wow…that is TOO sweet of you! Thank you so much for thinking of me :) I actually will be living near a Juice Generation, and I know my roommate and I will be there all the time. Emailing you now :) Thanks again for this sweet comment! xx

Ah I’ll be moving to West Village next weekend!! I’m living there with my cousin for a month while we look for something permanent, since her lease is ending. I’m looking forward to exploring the neighborhood!!

I’ve been whipping out my spring/summer attire already as well in hopes of doing my best to “winterize” it! NYC hasn’t been too brutal on us this winter but today’s storm is kind of proving me wrong…

I’m super jealous of your upcoming move to West Village! That’s my dream neighborhood too. If you don’t mind, I would love to get some more details on how you went about hunting down a place? If yes, I’ll shoot you an email in the near future once my lease-end approaches :)

    P.S - love the necklaces!!
