If Speakable doesn’t give enough of a hint, you should know that I’m a HUGE accessories girl. While I love clothes, my personal style is attributed mostly to how I accessorize my look(s) – be it handbags, scarfs, shoes- but especially jewelry.
Sometimes I like to keep my jewelry minimalistic, and other times I like it over the top. Layering is a great way to take simple pieces and combine them with others to turn your jewelry into an eye-catching statement.

some tips for layering jewelry:
1. DO mix it up. Styles, lengths, colors etc. Make it fun!
2. DON’T layer necklaces & bracelets at the same time – pick one to emphasize (unless they are subtle pieces).
3. DON’T wear big earrings if layering necklaces.
4. DO trust your own judgment. If it looks like it may be too much, it probably is.

Do you like layering jewelry? What’s your favorite jewelry piece?

Random question, but where did you get the flowered top in the first two pictures? I love it!
It’s actually a romper! from H&M, last summer
I agree - I’m so much more of an accessories girl! My favorite jewelry piece is this chunky AllSaints necklace I got recently, it goes with everything.
I’m terrible at accessorizing! I’m going to try some of your tips though
Hopefully, I can pull it off!
I loooove layering- sometimes I over do it… I have actually started taking selfies and then checking it out to see what it looks like - idk why but a pic helps. Then I usually take one thing off (a big ring, earrings, one necklace).
A fashion idol of mine once told me “Over accessorize and then before you leave the house, take one thing off. Then you will look perfect.” It seems to be so true!
I’m with you - I often take a pic of myself to tell if I like a certain outfit. It’s so different than just looking in the mirror!
With jewelry, I’m all about the “more the merrier” mentality. I feel naked without rings - I have 4 from Catbird I wear everyday, along with a silver band my mom gave me for my high school graduation.
I’m usually wearing at least 3 necklaces in varying lengths - no better way to dress up a plain white tee shirt!
loveee Catbird
I’ve never really tried layering jewelry although I love the look! My day to day jewelry is very basic. I just wear a sapphire ring that was my grandma’s and a basic band from Tiffany’s.
I always have a wrist full of bracelets. It’s usually just my left arm and there’s never anything on my right. Lots of necklaces tend to get tangled on me and that frustrates me and I only have one ear piercing and don’t care for dangly earrings. So my bracelets and bangles is where my self expression comes out!
I. Love. This. And I needed to read it as I always err on the side of being too conservative with jewelry. Great article!
