a (mostly) typical monday.

Hey there. Happy Monday! But more importantly, happy MLK/Inauguration Day.

Other than watching the Inauguration coverage for the better part of the day, today hasn’t been that much different than a typical Monday for me. I spent it working home, sitting on the couch with a big cup of coffee. A nice difference was that on this Monday I had company!

(That would be Erica demonstrating the “relaxed work mode” look ;))

Unfortunately the only other thing different from my normal Monday is that I got a terrible night of sleep.

Maybe I was the ice cream I ate before going to bed? Or the ending to Prison Break that may or may not have left me crying for a few minutes?

I’m not exactly sure what it was, but I used the extra time this morning by going to the (completely empty) gym for bit.

Today also marks the start of a new week of Fresh Diet meals (which I set up to not receive on the weekends). On today’s menu:

Oh yeah.

The Grilled Flat Bread I had for lunch was especially delicious.

Also on today’s agenda: Erica and I took advantage of the slow work day by starting a new series on Netflix.

We only watched the first episode but…oh my gosh…I just cannot. We were both laughing hysterically. Portlandia, where have you been all my life?

And then of course, we’re planning on spending the rest of our Monday with this extremely blonde fella.

Here’s to hoping this season is as awkward, dramatic, and cat fight-filled as they’ve been in the past. Oh, and that they find love or whatever.

How did you spend your (probably off from work) Monday? Will you be watching The Bachelor?

  • Flatbread looks great! Oh and I was not off from work either so I’m in your boat. Typical Monday.

  • I have never heard of Portlandia - but I am making sure to add to my list of “to watch”, I’m a sucker for those funny shows!

& sadly I had to work tonight & missed the bachelor, but I cannot wait to catch up on it tomorrow - I actually told my friends ( we always group text during bachelor, since the 3 of us are in different states ) to keep me in the group text so I could read their texts tomorrow as I watch it. hahaha!

Who is your “favorite” so far? I liked Lesley, but I’m thinking this episode might push me away from her. I also liked Des, but again I’m so curious to see what happened tonight!

  • I wish I lived in the city, because I would be all over the fresh diet. Is it an actual “diet?” Or just a meal delivery service?

My gym is usually dead, but actually had more people in it today. I lived in the capital (Albany), so lots of state workers with the day off. But the inauguration was on and I got to watch it during my workout. :)

    • It definitely can be a diet, yes! You can get it in whatever calorie range you want (lower if you want to lose weight, maintenance calories, etc.). But it definitely doesn’t *taste* like diet food at all.

  • Oh my gosh, we are OBSESSED with Portlandia. Just wait til you see the episode with the feminist book store ladies who “can’t reach” the book on the top shelf. It KILLS me. KILLS.

  • Hahahaha I loooove portlandia!!! It’s SO funny!!!

    Those meals look amazing!

I’m so jealous of your empty gym! During the week i’m up at 4:45 and at the gym by 5:20 (I’m a morning person; it would never happen if I had to go after work. I also can’t handle crowded gyms). The resolutioners have made the gym ROUGH on weekends, so I’ve been going at 7:45am. The boyfriend convinced me yesterday that the world wouldn’t end if I didn’t go at 7:45 (I work in finance so we had off) and that most people would probably have plans or be at home during the Inauguration. I didn’t fully trust this but I gave it a shot… walked into the gym at 12:30, and turned around and walked back out. Maybe it’s my anxiety of crowds that large or my lack of patience in waiting to do my workout, but I definitely gave him a “see! I knew I was right! Crazy girls have no problem watching the Inauguration from their ellipticals!” speech.

Sorry for the longgggg jealousy-fueled comment :) I spent the day cleaning my apartment, running outside, and watching the series premier of The Following, which was very very creepy. Your meals look delicious!!

  • Ohh those Fresh Meals look delicious! I would jump on board if they had gluten-free options! And how good was the Bachelor last night?? I swear Tierra faked the whole thing just for attention!

  • I think that flatbread alone has convinced me that the Fresh Meals delivery is plain awesome. And man do I feel outdated and out of the loop! haha, I haven’t had a TV for I don’t know how long and don’t know about anything people watch anymore 0_0 I do remember getting sucked in to the Bachelor a looong time ago though! It was addicting at one point :P

  • Portlandia is a funny show…and being from real-life Portlandia it is pretty funny how true a lot of the show is!
