Since Friday I’ve been spending a nice long weekend with my family at our rustic yet cozy New Jersey shore house.

Yesterday a bunch of the relatives came down for the day for fishing, feasting, and watching home videos.
…including one of me decked out in plastic jewelry demanding that the entire family listen to me sing Christmas carols.

So…sorry, you guys.
My sister Katie was on the fence about coming or not, so I was SO excited when she decided to come down too.

(We think we’re like, really funny.)
Her birthday was on Wednesday, so we got to celebrate that as a family. Happy birthday, Katie!
Ironically, though, we exchanged birthday gifts since she never got one for me in March and insisted it wasn’t too late. A necklace from Anthropologie for her, and this gorgeous Nixon watch (that I’ve been eying up for months) for me.

The rest of the weekend so far has consisted relaxing, a few hours of FreelyBe work, and lots of girlie movies (sorry Dad).
And in an attempt to once again make up for being a brat diva as a little girl, I made Black Forest Brownies for everyone.

I’ll be here until Monday or Tuesday to soak in some more family time before the craziness of September begins. And it’s gonna get crazy…
What did your last family vacation/get-together look like?

Black Forest cake is amazing - I can only imagine how good a brownie version is.
Fortunately, my family was never big on creating home videos. Thank the lord - I’m sure i did a lot of embarrassing stuff as a child.
Family time is the greatest!! My entire fam of 10 people went to Corpus Christi for a week in the waves. It was crazy but perfect:)
Isn’t family time the best? It looks like you had a lovely weekend with everyone. LOVE that watch, by the way.
And I cannot believe how moist and delicious those brownies look! I can’t wait to get my cookbook so I can start experimenting with all of the recipes. (:
How fun that your whole family got to head to the beach together! And I didn’t realize you had a sister- love your text exchange and how nice that you got to celebrate her bday! And those brownies are looking mighty delicious…!
Love the watch, it’s beautiful! And the brownies don’t look too bad either!
Haha I love your messages! Sounds like a lovely weekend - enjoy what is left of it!
LOVE Nixon watches. That one is awesome.I have a small collection going. Its becoming an expensive little habit.
I have the 101 Gourmet Cookies book and made the Magically Delicious bars this weekend. Safe to say that they pretty much were just that. But next time I think I’d do 1/2 pb chips and 1/2 chocolate chips. I need ‘em both.
