Two eggs gone to waste: about 60 cents.
A photo to prove just how ridiculously clumsy I am: priceless.

Water taxi to Ikea in Brooklyn: free on the weekends.
The gorgeous views from the East River: priceless.

A visit to a west-side pier as the sun sets: a few blocks of walking.
Recapping April and praying into May with my best friend: priceless.

One highlighting kit: $16.99.
The night we randomly decided to highlight our own hair for the first time in years: priceless.

Realizing our hair didn’t turn out as we had hoped: some ranting and venting about how the box lied.
Eating peanut butter sundaes to make us feel better about the mishap: priceless.

Have you ever tried highlighting your own hair? How’d it go?
…and any fellow-clumsies out there? 😕

I had a friend do mine in highschool - looked like zebra stripes, but I guess that was the trend!
I am horribly clumsy and have had several home hair dye mishaps - including a full bottle of Sun In when I was in middle school!
Luckily I’ve learned to stick with a tried and true shade!
Yikes, I wouldn’t dare try doing my own hair - I’d end up green or orange!
I tried to do it about a year ago. It turned out awful and bronzy and gross. I think dying your hair dark brown is a lot easier than finding a decent blonde that is not brassy. At least you had peanut butter sundaes
I could never go back to highlighting my own hair — I love how you tried it out!! Speaking of clumsiness… Last week, I went to Arcadia U because my sister had a final exam. I was hanging out in the library (reminded me of EU!!) and I spilled my Starbucks literally everywhere (reminded me of EU!!!!) I laughed a lot but no one else was amused…

I tried to make my hair a darker brown once… Turned out black :p it eventually died down though. What’s a peanut butter sundae? Sounds yummy
vanilla ice cream with peanut butter, vanilla frosting, and rainbow sprinkles. it was unreal!
Sorry about the hair mishap! Doing my own hair like that would make me too nervous but I know some people make it work! I’m just pretty sure I would mess it up. Good think you had some delicious looking sundaes to make it a little better 😉

In high school we tried dying my friends long brown hair to blonde. A chemical reaction happened and her hair started literally smoking and falling out! Silver lining: after having to cut off most of her hair she ended up with a darling bob
I color my hair all the time because I cannot bring myself to pay someone else $50+ to do it for me. When my hair was long and I lived in my hometown, my cousin was my hairdresser and she did it at a reasonable price.
In high school I had my mother try to highlight my hair … never again. Hahaha. Since then, I’ve always gotten it professionally highlighted!
What exactly is in a peanut butter sundae? I think I found a new favorite dessert!
We topped vanilla ice cream with peanut butter, vanilla frosting, and rainbow sprinkles
Mmmm, I will be making that tonight! Thank you!!
I want to see some pictures of the homemade highlights! haha
Oh gosh, I don’t think so haha. They’re not THAT bad…but let’s just say I already made an emergency corrective appointment for next week 😛

I started using the John Frieda Go Blonder Shampoo, Conditioner, and Lightening Spray. It works great!! And a great price too. Gradual and adorable.
Oh, good to know! Thanks!
I literally just commented to a friend that I have a strong urge to color/highlight my hair. Oh no… Nothing too crazy, although neon colors seems to be trending throughout the celebrity world!
