Is it just me or does it seem like getting Christmas gifts for people gets more and more difficult each year? And don’t even get me started on having to get gifts for guys…
As far as gifts for us ladies, though, I did a little brainstorming and came up with a few that I’d personally love to receive myself, and hopefully these ideas will make the gift-getting process just a little bit easier for you. So whether you’re looking for something to buy for a friend or add to your own Christmas list, here’s my:
GML’s Christmas Gift Guide.
for the beauty babe.
Last year my cousin Liz got a Sephora/OPI mini nailpolish set for Christmas, and I just couldn’t get over how much of a perfect gift it is. This set includes 18 assorted nail polishes for under $50. And, considering the cost of a single bottle of OPI, I’m pretty sure you know how much of a steal that is.
Sephora has a great selection of mini nail polish collections.
for the fitness buff.
For the exercisers of the bunch – I’m loving Champion Sports Bras, which the company was kind enough to send me samples of. They’re comfy, supportive, and seriously cute.

(Because let’s be real – white sports bras weren’t doing anyone any favors.)
And – take it from me – simply wearing cute workout gear and stretching at home for 10 minutes totally constitutes as a “daily workout.”
for the girlie girl.
I’ve admitted before that I’m kinda sorta obsessed with my “G” pendant necklace. Although I got mine from Urban Outfitters, I’d pretty much kill for one of these Sonya Renee personalized pendant necklaces.
Some of them can get a little pricey, but they’re customizable and a classic jewelry piece that will never go out of style.
for the thinker.
Journals are a great gift because they’ll always get put to use in one way or another. And, as someone who journals every day, I’m partial to their therapeutic powers
I really like Barnes & Noble’s selection of journals, which you can order online or find in their stores.
for the foodie.
Oh, how I love French Macarons, let me count the ways…
If you want to make a good gift-giving impression this year, French Macarons from Payard Bakery are the way to go.
Or if you want to go with something non-perishable, these Painted Amaryllis Measuring Cups from Anthroplogie are pretty much just the cutest thing ever.
for the workaholic.
Even with the takeover of online calendars and smart phones, sometimes there’s just nothing like a good old hand-held planner. And the best-of-the-best? A classic Moleskine.
I love my Moleskine planner and plan on getting a new one for 2012. I’ve seen them at just about every book or office supply store, including Barnes & Noble.
So there you have it – a gift idea for just about every type of friend. Now, when can we get past the gifts part and get to the holiday party guide…?
What’s on your Christmas wishlist this year? Any tips for gifting others?

I'm the girl, Gracie Gordon. Here at GML you can follow my journey of dreaming, working, eating, loving, and blogging my way through life in NYC.

I have some anthro measuring cups/teaspoons that are little flowers and I can’t even bring myself to use them for anything other than looking pretty. Or if I want to make my recipe photos look a little extra fancy from time to time…
I love those Anthro measuring cups - I feel like I’d break them though! Great idea with the journal and Moleskine - how could anyone not love those?
I use my Moleskin for everything. Happy early holidays, lady!
Great gift ideas! I would love to receive any of them, but especially the initial necklace. I’m going through a stage now where I love anything personalized/initialed!
I am an organization freak and would absolutely be lost without my planner. Never thought about asking “Santa” for it though. Thanks for the idea!
My sketchbooks are allll Moleskines!!! I am obsessed with the paper quality, the bookmark, and the elastic closure band.
The initial necklace and the Anthro measuring cups are gorg. My sister works at Anthropologie, hmmmm…
The hardest part of gifting this year is for my boyfriend’s family, most of whom I haven’t met yet. Driving from Philly to New Hampshire to his hometown for the first time, and I don’t wanna come empty handed. I think I will make festive chocolate covered pretzels/cookies/etc and put them in clear jars with some pretty ribbon and gift tags I’ve made. Everyone loves to eat, right?? DIY ideas on Pinterest, here I come.
DEF a good idea…the “in laws” will love you if you bring homemade treats, I’m sure
Yay for the great gift ideas! I pride myself on finding good gifts for my friends and family but each year it does seem to get harder! That nail polish will be the perfect thing for one of my girlfriends! And I love moleskins too!
love the Moleskine, the journal and the OPI set!
Measuring cups and necklace = das fo me.
Great ideas….. I’ve got limited space in my suitcase so i’ve to think small and thoughtful. The measuring cups are really cute!
My wishlist is the things on my blog from Kate Spade. Le sigh. If only. Haha.
I just started writing in a journal because my therapist suggested it. When I was younger, I could never take journals seriously because I always tried to make myself into an author. Now, I just write and it feels SO good. I totally agree Barnes and Noble has the best selection. I personally love the ones that are… dare I say, free-thinking? With the whimsical elephants and things. I think they’re adorable. There’s always the “Keep Calm and Eat Cupcakes”… Can’t go wrong there.
I really like those measuring cups! It definitely is something different. I saw some in the new Health magazine that look like those little stacking doll things? I have to go get my mag and look them up on the internet!
“I could never take journals seriously because I always tried to make myself into an author.” <—- SAME!! my journals now are so random…people probably wouldn’t even understand what I write, haha.
Workout clothes are always a good gift! All of my friends are pretty athletic, so it’s always a good choice for them!
That OPI gift set will be making its way onto my christmas list, not my christmas shopping list haha. I want it!
These are such great ideas! This year for Christmas I’m putting together little baskets of “favorite things”- so for my sisters, their fave movie, nail polish, cookie, etc. I’m so excited!
I love your blog and I think these gift ideas are great, but I have to ask… did you put the Champion sports bras on here because the company sent them to you? It seems odd that you and Carrots+Cake would both be talking about the exact same sports bra the same week (and she mentioned in her post the company sent them to her). I just feels a little dishonest
Hey Nikki! Yes, the company did send the bras to me to try out. But - I have a very strict policy of NOT posting about products that I don’t truly like and support (no pun intended, ha) personally. I have received a number of products in the past that I have not blogged about. These really are a favorite of mine right now.
p.s. I actually really appreciate you bringing this up because remaining honest and “legit” to my readers is very important to me. so thanks for that
hope I answered your question!
p.p.s. I usually always include when a company sent me products to try - clearly forgot to this time and fixing now!
Oh man, thanks for such a prompt and honest answer. That was pretty cool of you!
This is an amazing list. Love it (/want everything I see on it…haha).
I love all of these ideas! Especially those bowls from anthropologie… Definitly one of my favorite stores for cute kitchen stuff!
I NEEEED one of those pendants in my life!
Great gift ideas! I bought the measuring cups already and will be getting the nail polish next. Thanks!!!
I’m a big fan of the champion sports bras….theyre soft, supportive, wick the sweat, and don’t chaff! Win!!!
LOVE this post! What a great gift guide…and those necklaces belong on my neck. Adorable. You rock girl! xoxo
