Over the past couple of weeks, the weather here in NYC took a pretty quick turn from being chilly to being painfully freezing. But - other than the dreadful walk to the train or wait for a cab - I don’t mind the cold too much. I think that with the right gear, the cold days of winter can actually be really cozy and fun. So here are some of my favorite things that make the cold weather much more bearable.
*gml’s cold weather favorites.*
earmuffs.
Not only do earmuffs do the best job of…well, keeping your ears warm…but I also think they’re just the cutest thing ever. Even though they’re on the pricey side, I’m especially in love with these Cashmere Burberry earmuffs.
slipper socks.
(…how I get all of my boyfriends, clearly.)
I’m that typical girl whose feet are cold 90% of the time, so thick and warm socks are a must whether I’m at my apartment or out and about in the city. Here’s a really cute and cozy pair of cable knit socks from Land’s End that you might want to add to your Christmas wish list (…I did).
{the right} gloves.
I can bear walking around the freezing cold city for a certain amount of time, but it’s that point where my fingers start to feel like they’re going to fall off that I become a first-rate whiner. A lot of gloves don’t always do the trick, but these black pleather insulated Merona gloves that my mom got me keep my hands SO warm. They’re from Target, which has a huge selection of great gloves.
the perfect coat.
Having a great warm coat for the cold weather is a given, but here are a few of my favorite styles for this year.
soup, soup, and more soup.
Seriously…what’s better than a big bowl of hot soup after a day of being out in the cold? Recently Dr. McDougall’s Right Foods sent me a bunch of their delicious soups, and they’ve been my lifesaver when I need a warm and cozy meal. All of the varieties taste great, but my favorites are the Lentil and Tortilla soups.

I love the cold ! It’s still warm here in Florida, so I’m jealous of everyone experiencing cold weather right now. A big bowl of soup is the bessst in that weather.
Slipper socks, soup, and Sbucks are my fave winter warmers

In Chicago, I have a scarf, down coat and hat.
Gloves NEVER keep my fingers warm!
Ohh I love your ear muffs! I used to wear mine all the time when I lived in London- they were essential! Also on my cold weather list is a big cozy scarf that I can wrap around my neck multiple times! I love all of those coats too- one of my co-workers has the toggle one and it’s so cute!
Living in Los Angeles, I don’t really ever have the need for anything warm, BUT I have to say in actual cold climates, scarves are my favorite thing. I literally never realized they actually serve a purpose and aren’t just for fashion until I went to New York last January. YIKES. A must-have.
Hot apple cider for the win! It’s chilly here in NH - 22* on my run yesterday. Not a fan of the cold weather, so I may be visiting some of you warm-weather-ites!

Soup is a must!!!
Those earmuffs are super cute! I’m thinking I’m going to get a pair because hats look terrible on me.
My cold weather musts are soup, tea, and scarves!
They have that tan tommy hilfiger coat at the century 21 on the UWS for only 120ish…you should check it out!
I love slipper socks…I’m also a fan of cute hats and scarves!
Scarves and hand warmers are always my stand bys!

Scarves are my true love. I’ve never owned a pair of earmuffs! I’m a Floridian, so I’ve never needed any. Super cute, though. One day…
A scarf is a definitely “must” for me. And warm socks, because I’m also the typical girl who always has cold feet!
Sweater slippers!! They are my absolute favorite!
