room service.

For some reason or another, every time the weekend rolls around I crave Pad Thai like its no one’s business.

Unfortunately that plea via Twitter was unsuccessful, so I ended up holding off until the next day for my fix of the ever-popular Thai dish. Thanks a lot, ya jerks.

After a 12pm wake-up and the mandatory hour-long recap discussion of of the night before, Jessi, Erica and I headed over to Room Service for their $6.90 lunch special.

That’s right - for less than 7 bucks you can get a lunch entree and an appetizer. Does it really get much better than that?

I started with their Chicken Tom Yum soup (savory sour soup with mushrooms, traditionally seasoned with lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, chili and lime juice). Loved this – lots of great flavors going on.

For my entree I stuck to the basics and got Chicken Pad Thai. It was easily some of the best I’ve had in the city.

Not only was the food great, but we also loved the restaurant’s decor and ambiance. With mirrors on the ceiling, intricate wall moldings, and a huge chandelier right in the middle, Room Service somehow manages to be swanky yet really…cozy.

So thanks, Room Service. Mission Weekend Thai Fix: completed :)

What’s your favorite “weekend meal?” And how important do you think a restaurant’s ambience is?

This is the restaurant I’ve most frequented in the year I’ve lived here! So glad it’s right in my neighborhood, and I always bring friends there when they’re in town visiting. Great vibe, great food, adorable decor.

I don’t always think ambiance is important, but it does add to a meal experience. That place looks absolutely stunning!! There are a lot of those cheap but good Thai places on the East Coast. My brother goes to grad school in Virginia and whenever we visit him we have OD on Thai Food like that!

i have to say that my favorite weekend meal is breakfast for dinner, anywhere. there’s nothing like a huge stack of (preferably pumpkin) pancakes to make me feel weekend-cozy, even if the ambience consists of blue pleather booths at IHOP. fancy, i know! xo

is it not ridiculous how many thai restaurants are in hell’s kitchen? love thai food though, can’t complain. my yoga studio is right up the block, so it’s amazing.

yummm Thai Select is also good in the Hell’s Kitchen area….and I try to be adventurous, but always end up getting the pad thai!

My favorite weekend meal is definitely the vegan breakfast burrito from the cafe right down the street from me. It’s perfection. And it comes with a side of rosemary sweet potato hashbrowns. Double perfection.
That restaurant looks adorable. I love when places have cozy, yet sophisticated, ambiances like that. It makes dining even more enjoyable. (:
