4 days, 4 states.

It’s been a long weekend.

But a great one.

Despite a little visit from a hurricane whose name won’t be mentioned, I travelled from NYC to Pennsylvania to Delaware to New Jersey to Pennsylvania and back to NYC *takes breathe* over the past four days. The reason?

Nicole and Shaun got maaaarrriiiieeeed 😀

Thankfully Irene’s “wrath” only cut the reception one-hour short, so we were still able to spend the weekend laughing, dancing, and celebrating together.

I had planned on going directly from the wedding in Delaware back to NYC today, but…

Yeah. Goodbye $72.

So considering that – and the fact that driving through torrential downpours and tornado warnings is just so exhilarating – I headed out last night with Chrissy and stayed at her place in Jersey. Momma G was kind enough to pick me up the morning and take me to our Pennsylvania home, where I witnessed the hurricane devastation…

…followed by a few hours of my favorite, most-missed pass time.

Brunch included :)

Thankfully I have thee best parents in the world who offered to bring my stranded/car-less behind back to NYC, so here I am, kind of wishing I could do the past four days all over again…

…but here’s to the next four! Until next time, xoxo G

Let’s talk weddings: what do you think is the most “important” detail(s) – food, DJ, venue, etc.??

Hi Gracie! I’ve never commented before but I really like your blog. I’m glad Irene wasn’t too disruptive! I think it’s definitely most important to have a wedding that fits the personalities of the bride & groom.

glad everything worked out for you and the new couple! my cousin was supposed to go to a wedding at the shore, but clearly that was canceled. could you imagine?! after all that planning…holy smokes, I’d have to be committed!

Glad you got to enjoy your weekend and managed to get pretty much everything done, quite impressive! I think one of the most important factors for any wedding are the people involved. Isn’t that’s what weddings are celebrating after all? :)

I’m glad your weekend was a blast despite the storm trying to rain on the parade.

Key for my wedding was the groom. We had zippo for a budget and just wanted family and friends to hang out. Everything else was as easy and inexpensive (not cheap…things were cut to prevent tacky).

So happy the weather did not get in the way of wedding fun!! I think the most important part of a wedding is definitely the venue, but it can also play a part in the energy of the guests, bride and groom!

Congrats to your friends, so glad the biatch Irene didn’t ruin it! I think food and DJ are 2 of the most important aspects of a wedding! Good music and yummy eats always guarantee a good time!

Obviously the bride and groom need to be happy because it’s their day, but…I always remember the food. People will talk about the bad (or good) food months later. A good DJ is also important so that people have something to do and don’t feel uncomfortable getting on the dance floor!

I think the venue and DJ are super important because they set the tone for the whole night. But I will say that food is a close third because if you don’t have enough food and drink than the tone will be grumpy.

That looks like a great wedding weekend! How fun to watch your close friends get married! What a bummer about the flight delays but it sounds like you are making the best of the situation! And sitting on the couch, watching tv while having brunch sounds like a pretty good back up plan :)

    I love weddings!! :)

I think the DJ is important, because he doesn’t just do the music, but he also helps keep the night “flowing.” And I think that it’s important that the bride and groom can just enjoy themselves. It makes me sad when the bride is so super stressed, that she can’t even stop and be excited about her day!

I love the bouquet in your pictures! My fiance and I just recently decided that we would like to shoot for a fall 2012 wedding so I’m starting to get so antsy and get butterflies in my tummy thinking about all the plans! I think its the complete package- not too much emphasis on one specific thing but I shall see when the planning starts!

YIKES you’ve been so busy! That reminds me of my trip to Europe. We were in each city for two nights but it wasn’t enough time. Before you knew it we were packing up, jumping on the bus, and onto the next city! We hit 11 cities in 3 and a half weeks, we were busy busy busy!
