Hey there, friends! Today I’ve got some reviews for you that have all received my GML approval. Maybe I shouldn’t have given that away off the bat, but hey – sometimes I just want to scan through photos of a blog post too
First up…
Siggi’s yogurt.

I’ve seen Siggi’s around for a while now but always went for my favorite Greek yogurts instead. I assumed it was just like any old yogurt, but it turns out that Icelandic skyr yogurt has an interesting texture of its own. It’s definitely more mild in the flavor department than Greek yogurt, but it’s thicker and creamier than regular yogurts. I’ll definitely be getting Siggi’s more again. GML approved!
Goody Spin Pins.

I was first introduced to Spin Pins by none other than the style diva herself, SnackFace. My hair is pretty thin and doesn’t usually hold well, so I was skeptical that these little gadgets would actually hold a bun in place. To my excitement, though, they really do! Now a ballerina-style bun is my hairstyle of choice during the day. My favorite part, though, is that when I take the bun down my hair has a really fun wave to it, which I can’t usually get when I use regular hair ties. The verdict: 100% GML approved.
Slingbox.

My dad installed Slingbox on my laptop a few months ago, but I never really got around to seeing just how life changing it really is. The actual Slingbox looks similar to a cable box, but what it does is stream home-cable to any Internet-enabled computer. We have one hooked up to the basement television in our PA home, so I can access that television with hundreds of channels via my computer from just about anywhere! And, let’s just say that definitely comes in handy when your train breaks down and you have to wait an hour in an unknown town to get picked up by your parents. Ahem.
Slingbox costs a couple hundred dollars, but if it’s something you think you or your family would utilize, I give it two thumbs up. GML approved.
The Protein Bakery.

Before you go on judging the (lame-ish) name, let me tell you that these are seriously some of the best packaged baked goods I’ve ever had - healthy or not. According to the website:
Our idea is simple: use the highest quality, natural ingredients, baked to perfection. Don’t add any preservatives or flavors. And as our name suggests- we use the purest whey protein isolate available. Each cookie, brownie, blondie has more protein and a few less carbohydrates than most snacks available. This nutritional balance prevents a heart rate change and won’t spike your blood sugar. Also of note: for people with wheat allergies, our products are wheat free.
They have a ton of different cookie, brownies, and blondie options. I’ve tried the Colossal Trail Mix Cookie and the Coconut Walnut Dark Chip Blondie, the latter being my favorite so far (although the cookie was pretty good too). I don’t know what else to say other than the fact that - as a lover of all baked-goods – The Protein Bakery makes me a very happy girl. GML approved.
I’ve found their products just about everywhere around NYC, but you can also order them via The Protein Bakery website.

What do you think about “healthy” baked goods? A good idea or an oxy-moron?
And – be honest – how often do you just skim the photos of a blog post? (I won’t tell anyone!)

Love the slim box idea, I have never heard of that!
I really love a blog for good photos, and of course good writing content ; ) I always have liked yours, even if it was just one photo you had on a post, you always write something great!
Aw thanks Katie, that means a lot to me!
I’ve always wanted to try those bobby pins…and the blondie looks awesome.
Healthy baked goods = awesome for some things, horrible for others. Obviously I want to try that protein bakery stuff though, cause that sounds awesome! Also my freshman year roomie had a slingbox and it was a lifesaver in our tiny dorm room not to have a TV!
healthy? unhealthy? as long as it’s delishhh it doesn’t matter to me!!
I’m going to have to try those spin pins! I’ve been rockin’ a bun A LOT this summer, especially because it’s been so hot, & it seems like those might help to make my signature style even easier… yay!
Haha I love your second question. I will skim if:
1. I’m not as interested in the topic that the blogger is discussing or..
2. The blogger is super wordy.
I’m not judging those who like to write a lot… but I swear I have ADD and can only focus for so long haha!
Otherwise, I usually read the content. I enjoy reading what other people have to say!
I’m glad to hear that the Siggi’s is good! I have some in my refrigerator right now that my parents just brought over, so I guess I’d better try it!
I love the spin pins! I thought I was never a fan of having my hair up until I bought these. I’ve been using them almost everyday for like 2 weeks.
I like your second question. I sometimes worry I am too wordy. But I read wordy blogs too if it is interesting - just like Kristen said.
How do you get those spin pins to work? I bought them and can’t figure it out!
Also I LOVE your blog. So simple. Gorgeous Pictures. Very uplifting.
You spin one UP a side of your bun and the other DOWN the other side, so that they’re parallel to each other. Does that make sense??
And THANK YOU for the kind words, Clare! You are a doll
Desserts can definitely be healthy but there are some recipes which try too hard like chickpea blondies! Maybe I did something wrong but they tasted awful and for someone who hates to let things go to waste, they left me no choice!
I love slingbox! It’s nice to watch things I can’t get at school from home (like sporting events).
Okay, okay, you caught me!
I love a blog with a good pictures.
Actually (okay this will sound bad) I really appreciate that your pictures don’t look like they were taken by a professional photographer. It is sort of frustrating/intimidating for someone just starting a blog when they allll have amazing pictures.
I just have a little point and click camera okay? (don’t just my content by my pictures)
And your blog is so popular, so obviously content is more important.
Like I said, that sounds bad.
Anyway…. healthy baked goods. It sort of takes away some of fun of it, knowing that the baked good is healthy. Or perhaps that’s just me?
Doesn’t sound bad at all!! I just can’t bring myself to spend a ton of money on a camera so the point-and-shoot will have to do for now
I LOVE Siggi’s. The blueberry is insane! Too bad it’s so expensive
But oh so creamy!
Love this post! I’ve been meaning to try spin pins and slingbox looks pretty cool!
I think I need to get some of those spin pins. thanks for the tip
I loveeeee my Spin Pins! Like you, I have really thin (and totally straight) hair, and I find that these baby can work some serious magic and create curls and texture I never knew I had. Love!
Healthy baked goods either turn out fantastic or a plea for help. In the end, I think it depends on how daring you are feeling… or desperate. Sometimes, it is better to go with the indulgence and not risk your life on those carob “treats.” Never mind the pictures- those are what landed you in the world of carob in the first place! Lol. To be fair, I actually have found one “healthy” carob recipe worthy to supplement chocolate… one.
“Healthy baked goods either turn out fantastic or a plea for help.” <— hahah, so true!
I’m actually not a fan of carob, it sort of grosses me out!
think you should do a tutorial on how to use the spin pins!
I love the sound of the protein bakery… NOM! I love it when food that shouldn’t be good for you actually is. Now I just need to get some in the UK.I have just discovered Snog frozen yogurt though, which I’ve just blogged about.

@healthSupp
Hey
Glad that you like the Icelandic skyr!
Since I’m from Iceland, I just had to comment when I saw Siggi’s skyr
I like your blog!
In Christ,
Johanna
I think baked goods can be healthy-especially the ones with fruits and nuts with certain grains or sugar free. I’ve been dying to try Protein Bakeries goods. They all look so good!
I’ve been meaning to say…THANK YOU for the shout out!!! The Spin Pins have changed my hair life, and I’m glad they’ve done the same for you. Just this month, Elle reported on them in their mag. I’m like, HELLO, who reported on those a year ago? (Just another reason I need to work @ a magazine!)
Anyway, I miss you so! How is this possible even though we haven’t met face-to-face? I don’t know. Anyway, would love an email update, my dear! xoxoxo
I need a spin pin!!!!!!!! Can you post me one pretty pretty please? x
