gml approved, 2.

Hello sweets, and happy summer! I can’t say I’m thrilled that it’s officially summertime and I’m cooped up in a NYC office, but there could be worse problems. Just try not to torture me with your tweets about how gorgeous the beach is, pretty please? :)

So today I’ve got yet another “part two” comin’ atchya…I like series posts, what can I say? This time around, it’s some more GML approved (or not) goodies. And first up is…

New York Color Cover Stick concealer.

NYC is one of those inexpensive makeup brands that can really be hit or miss. For example, I have their bronzer (which was just about $4) and love it, but this concealer…not so much. Not only does it go on cakey, but it doesn’t blend in well at all. It actually seems to just come right off when you try to rub it in. Needless to say, this one is not GML approved.

Wix.com.

I recently learned about Wix.com through my friend Jessi, and I’m pretty much floored by how great of a tool it is! Building a website can be a daunting task and hiring a developer can get pretty expensive, so I think Wix is a really great resource. While I love me some WordPress, Wix allows you to create a professional-looking flash website that doesn’t look at all like you used a web-building site.

And now for a food review, of course…

thinkThin bars.

Long story short: I LOVE these bars. I’ve got to have been eating at least one almost every day for the past few weeks. I’ve had thinkThin bars a few times in the past, but just recently I found how insanely good they get if you refrigerate them before eating. The creamy peanut butter flavor is my favorite; pop in the fridge for a few minutes and the result is like a big peanut butter cup! The 20g of protein also makes for a great hold-me-over-until-dinner afternoon snack.

What’s your favorite protein bar? And/or makeup concealer?

9 bars (a British brand) aren’t protein bars as such but they have 8g of protein which ain’t too shabby and taste freakin’ delicious! Full of seeds and topped with a carob (aka chocolate) coating!

I’ve heard about WIX before and they rock! You can make some really cool websites on there and its really easy to use too =)

I’ve never had a ThinkThin bar but if they are GML approved then they must be good =D

I LOVE Thinkthin bars! Some people HATE them and think they taste appalling, but I think they’re flippin’ awesome and they actually keep me full for more than a few mins…what a concept! Haha.

    Love you girl!

mmmmm love Thinkthin bars! They are definitely up there as one of my favorites. The PB is good, but I love the chocolate brownie! I’m going to have to try this fridge thing, I’m intrigued..

Ah, Clinique used to have the most amazing concealer that came in a compact and left my skin looking flawless. Alas, they’ve discontinued it I believe, so I try to use what I have sparingly, and only when necessary!

I HATE when brands discontinue your favorites, it’s like losing a dear friend (that hides your facial imperfections.) Yes, just like that.

I used to use Lancome Effarceness and it was the best dang concealer I’d ever used…I switched to Lush for a more natural option but it just doesnt take care of my super-dark circles. Once that container is used up, I’m back on the market for a more natural-ingredients concealer!

Okay, so I totally need to try those bars now. Not like I have a slight addiction to protein bars or anything…My favorite protein bar right now are probably the pulsin’ bars. They’re english but the Whole Foods on Union Square sells them too, they’re insanely dense and filling! My favorite concealer is YSL touche eclat, but it’s a wee bit too expensive, so I hardly ever have it. Right now I’m working on a tube of Make Up Forever which I’ve had for over a year, it’s good but WAY too thick for summer!

Wix is sweet but please don’t build flash websites! They aren’t iPad/iPhone friendly and SO many people access the web that way now, especially for the first time. It’s SO frustrating to go to a site that uses flash these days.

Clif bars… Raw Revolution bars… Ugh hate to admit the Clif bar love I know they aren’t hte healthies but they are so good and filling! Concealer only bareminerals. It’s the ONLY thing I’ve foud that works that doesn’t break out my crappy skin!

I used to eat ThinkThin bars all the time, but then I kind of got sick of them. But I like the refrigerator idea! I’ll have to try that. Have you tried their new crunch ones? Omg, those are amazing!

PS. I’m loving these GML approved posts- I think you should make it a weekly series!

I don’t really have any good responses to this post… I don’t wear concealer and I’m pretty much allergic to all protein bars! 😛 But I love making my own granola bars with soy nut butter and seeds, so I’m sure those must pack a few grams of protein!

I use Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer. Its about $20 each but they last for months and work wonders!

i havent heard of wix but i’ve been wanting to change my blog and i’m so glad you told me about it!! thinkthin bars refrigerated is a good idea, might have to copy you

I learned about ThinkThin bars through Goop, Gwenyth Paltrow’s website. Still haven’t tried them, but 20g of protein is hard to beat!

The only NYC product I’ve tried is their quick dry nail polish which I LOVE! They dry in 90 seconds and have a ton of great colors. Put a coat of OPI natural nail base on first and it doesn’t chip. That’s my frugal advice. Spurge on the base coat and then it doesn’t matter what goes on the top!

The chocolate dipped (white or dark) crunch thinkthins are really good. Try those! :)
I have a problem with the Chocolate Brownie (or something similar) one of the original, though. Very tough to swallow.

Oh yay now I can feel a little less weird about putting my bars in the fridge! I swear anytime a bar tastes funny (usually due to protein powder) and your refridgerate it, it is saved. Though I only like the fruity flavored think thin bars.

My favorite concealer is called Amazing Concealer (good name, right?). You can buy it at Sephora, it is a little expensive but a tiny tube lasts FOREVER. And when you put it on, it is like magically wiping the dark circles/imperfections away.

It also comes in a lot of shades — 10 or 12, at least — so you can find one that matches your skintone. I am a pale peacock, so I usually pick the one that most closely resembles White-Out 😉

I use a MAC moisture cover concealer. It’s expensive but it lasts me a very long time.
I had wondered about the Think Thin bars. I eyed then during my Larabar phase but never tried them.
