You might not have noticed anything different about GML’s posts over the past few weeks (or, maybe you have and I’m just oblivious to it…?). Whether you have or not, you should know that the blogger behind the scenes - ahem, me - hasn’t had as easy of a time putting it all together.
To make a long story short, my new job has kind of sort of been consuming my life. To go from working from home every day to commuting into Manhattan, working an 8-hour day, and commuting back home…well, let’s just say that I’m not fully adjusted yet. This isn’t a sob story, though – I love my new job and routine! But, carving out the necessary 2+ hours a day to dedicate to blogging hasn’t been an easy task.
The title of this post is probably misleading in the sense that, well, I can’t really tell you exactly what to expect here at GML. But, I *think* it will look a little something like this.
- I’m definitely still going to try to post at least once every weekday.
- more general recaps of my day.
- reviews of recipes, products, restaurants, etc.
- I might also start doing shorter, “Tumblr-esque” posts, like these:
(^ clothes and cookies – clearly the only important things in life)
…..and that’s all of got for now. I guess I just wanted to give the heads up about the possible change rather than have you think that I’m being a slacker. While I’m sure you all understand that life happens, I do feel a responsibility as a blogger and friend to keep ya’s in the know. YA KNOW? Okay, great.
On a completely unrelated note, here’s a fun photo I stumbled upon (literally) that I’ll leave you with. Just ‘cause.
(source)
hehe, get it?
Have a good one, friends! xoxo G

I'm the girl, Gracie Gordon. Here at GML you can follow my journey of dreaming, working, eating, loving, and blogging my way through life in NYC.

Wowza! You do have some adjusting to do! Don’t worry, we’ll stick by you no matter what kind of posts you choose to do!
I know exactly what you mean. That’s why I always share about behind the scenes blog stuff going on with me - like I did recently with letting people know I felt the need to cut back my blogging amount. It wasn’t to justify what I was doing, but to let readers know that I’m still here and giving it my all, but in a way that suits my life. And to let others know that we all have the hard time of adjusting and finding that blogging balance.
Love ya and your blog, girl! And completely relate.
I’m sure you’ll get used to your new life and we’ll be here for you along the way
So understandable… As awesome as blogging is, sometimes life just gets in the way, and that’s ok. Your loyal readers aren’t going anywhere
Good luck with the new job. Love that picture! It made me laugh
This reader isn’t going anywhere
Life gets so busy! It’s unrealistic to think that most people have the time to sit around and post 2 or 3 times a day. Job = more important than blogging in the grand scheme, and that’s real life. So glad to hear you love your new job, btw! Just take your time getting adjusted!
I’ve been having the same problem lately, with work being crazy and feeling like a blog-neglector.
At least now I know I’m not alone and it happens to everyone
Girl you are a working girl, so I understand, and don’t stress! When you can blog, then blog, no worries!!!! U rock!!!!
I understand…driving to and from school, and actually being at school and work, takes up so much time, that’s it’s hard to dedicate a lot of time to blogging. Lately I’ve been staying up way past my bedtime to blog, which isn’t really good for me either! I’m glad that you are enjoying your new job!
Oh man, do I hear this! Working 10 hour days, commuting 2 hours a day, volunteering my butt off, working out and trying to live my life doesn’t leave as much time as I’d like for blog upkeep. Just keep doing what you do though and people will keep reading because you are awesome. Plus, it is my humble opinion that it is important to have a life in order to write about it!
working 10 hours a day?! girl, I don’t know how you do it! I haven’t even exercised in like a month, haha
Thanks for the encouraging words
xoxo
You are lovely! Your blog will always be one of my favorites- as a visual person I enjoy the tumblr-esque posts anyway!!!
Good luck with your new job! I work from home and I have definitely become spoiled by it. I think it’d be extremely hard to make the transition to office gal!
Ah, thank you sweet girl!!
Totally understandable! Just enjoy your new gig and don’t worry too much about it
Love the picture!
Life comes first..blogging second. Enjoy this crazy, busy, fabulous time!
life happens! you should revel in the fact that you have a job that’s fulfilling your time, energy, and hopefully passion!

It IS hard to take time out in the evenings when you’ve been working all day-I totally get that:) I hope you’re loving the new job!
I like your fashion tumblr-y posts quite a lot, especially when they include photos of your boots. Which reminds me, it’s been a while you did that. I hope it’s not too hot to wear boots already in NYC!
My boots?? Noted!
(although, I don’t really wear boots to work because they’re not super “professional,” wah :()
I feel ya. Working full time and blogging is tough! But I think your new idea sounds fun and fresh. Can’t wait to see how you do it!
Working full time and blogging daily is definitely hard to balance - totally agree! I don’t know how some people can post 3x a day!
Love the picture!
And I know EXACTLY what you mean.. my schedule caused me from going to posting every day to maybe once a week. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things but blogging is supposed to be fun, not stressful, right?
Good luck on your transition and figuring out the right schedule for you!! I’m sure wherever you take GML with be awesome!
Dude, I had the hardest time transitioning at first, too. Slowly but surely, I have adjusted and my schedule is a little something like this:
6:40 am - 8:30 a.m.: get ready, eat breakfast, drive to work (I like to ease in to the day, so this takes a while)
8:45 am - 5:30/6 p.m.: work
6/6:30 p.m. - as late as 8/8:30 p.m.: work out and/or run an errand or two
8:30 p.m. - as late as 12 a.m.: shower, eat dinner, MAYBE watch tv, MAYBE paint mah nails, and definitely blog, read, talk to my man.
It is entirely exhausting, and by the time Friday comes, I am ready for a break. It just takes time, sista frand.
My scheduling is starting to look like that too. The only thing I haven’t mastered yet is doing much of anything after work (unless it’s something fun like dinner with friends…exercising hasn’t re-entered the equation just yet, ha). Thanks for the “been there done that” encouragement - it’s good to know I’ll adjust sooner or later!
Congrats on the new job (I think I’m behind)! And I can relate to the real world + blogging dilema, even though I just started blogging, I know that it does take a lot of time. I’m glad you are finding balance as I’m hoping to learn from you.
Good luck!
Definitely relate to this one!! it sometimes is tough to fit everything in!!
Girrrrl you sound so busy! I’m amazed you’ve even been able to keep up with posting since you started your new job. Glad you’re loving it though!
I hope you’re able to adjust to your new job more easily soon!
And I like that last picture, it’s cute!
Love the Starbucks pic.
And it is totally understandable you need to scale back, that’s a hefty schedule!
“But, carving out the necessary 2+ hours a day to dedicate to blogging hasn’t been an easy task.”-
AMEN GIRL!!!
Do what you have to do. We are here for you.
Love that sbux cup!
You’re doing an amazing job of balancing it already, dear friend, and I know that you’re a talented enough blogger to make whatever posts you can fit in absolutely amazing. One of the things I’ve always loved about GML is that each post is well thought out and fun- and I know that it will only continue to be that way!
Just found your blog-love it! Any post including Starbucks snags me
Good luck adjusting!
Hey Karla, glad you found me! Thanks for reading
xoxoxo
Blogging can be so time consuming! Just keeping up with my reader is a challenge! Especially when work gets crazy. Good luck getting in the swing of the new routine!
Blogging definitely takes up time!! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do girl
Best of luck!
and no matter the distance and hours, as long as you love your job- thats all that matters- and thats the most rewarding part! <3
xoxo <3
it’s cool. we’re here.
I can totally relate to you! I’ve been finding it a bit difficult to keep up blogging and take care of everything else I need to do. I’m finding that it’s easier for me to just do a few longer posts every other day than a short one every day. I’m sure you’ll adjust to your new routine in no time!
PS - I really like the Tumblr-post idea!
