Today is a great day.
I could easily say the opposite. I mean, I woke up at 5:30am, it’s pouring rain outside, and this morning I noticed that about 1/8 of one of my molars is chipped off. No big deal.
So, what exactly has made this day a good one? Why am I in this peaceful, content mood?
It could be the fact that even though it’s rainy out, I’m having one of those good hair days that are only experienced the day after visiting the salon. Nope…not that.
Maybe it’s because my lovebug Erica is arriving tonight for a two-day-long visit.

Love ya E, but that’s not it either.
Is it because I made the impulsive decision to stop in a bakery I walked by and treat myself to some….treats?

(mini coconut mousse pie and mini cannoli from Pasticceria Bruno in the Village)
They could very well make for a superb day, clearly, but not in this case. (Side note: New Yorkers – did you know that this week is Cannoli Week? I actually got that mini cannoli on the house, hint hint ;))
What about the amazing and very much needed message at church this morning (where I heard this quote that I can’t get out of my head)?

Getting warmer, but that alone is not what made today a good day.
What makes today a good day…and every day, for that matter…is that I am saved by grace. My God has a plan for me, and although I might not have the slightest clue as to what that might be, I have hope. I have faith. And He alone is enough for me.
So to early mornings, rainy days, and broken molars…better luck next time.
Does anyone out there like rainy days? (I sometimes do!)
Any tips/products to avoid hair from frizzing in the rain?! This is a serious issue, people ![]()

I like rainy days if I’m warm and cosy indoors - they’re peaceful
Um….an umbrella and the acceptance that your hair will never NOT frizz in the rain :p let me know if you find the answrr!
I’ve been feeling particularly disconnected recently and in a funk, so I did a little restorative yoga in my room. That with the sound of the rain was just what I needed to lift my spirits a bit!
Rain can be a good thing!
ahh, yoga sounds SO good right now!! I imagine that it would be so peaceful with the sound of rain outside…
Oh, and when you figure out the hair frizz thing, please share your secrets!
Everyday is a great day when you are saved by grace! We can then have joy in every circumstance.
I love rainy days partly because I have an excuse to wear my rain boots
The other reason is that it makes me want to hibernate beneath a pile of blankets and a good book.
Definitely not loving this rain. But I love your positive outlook on the day
Thank you for the reminding of the reason that even a day like today is blessed because of God’s grace.
I love rainy days because warm rain makes for great runs, I love the sound on the roof and it makes eating soup for lunch and dinner perfectly logical
Try Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum! It is my FAVORITE stuff.
Slash I love that quote, it is so true. I sometimes love rainy days, it’s fun to have an excuse to bum out all day!
I love that quote :).
I enjoy rainy days once in a while, it puts me in a creative mood and I can always get alot done!
Love your blog BTW!
hollaaa for loving rainy days! i think rain days are days to experiment with braids and funky hairdos, headbands and fun accessories.

it is truly amazing to know you are saved and a much loved daughter of God!
the answer to frizzy hair on rainy days is simple… updo!
You have such a great attitude and outlook:)
hmm i have a love/hate with rainy days because in london we get WAY too many of them… ergo.. they are nice when they are little surprises, but when it rains aLL The time it sucks the fun away!
I have very wavy hair, and there is no way to beat frizz in the rain.
I say put on extra cute makeup and WORK IT!
I like rainy days when I can stay inside all day and have a lazy day.
Today is a rainy day, and honestly so far it’s been pretty great.
I love rainy days! They give me a nice excuse to relax and be lazy. Normally, I am not good at either. I get keratin treatments to control my hair and keep it from frizzing. It is amazing to be able to walk outside in the rain and not worry about getting my hair wet!
I’m consdering getting a keratin treatment to my hair this spring/summer because the thought of going out in humid DC weather without a fro makes me insanely excited!

Rainy days are great when you can just lounge on the couch and watch a tv marathon or read a nice book. I personally love to snuggle up with my dog and watch HGTV. Pretty sure I’m obsessed

I love rainy days, as long as I’m snuggled up at home
Stephanie @ LoveLaughterLight says
I love rainy days when it’s warm enough to sit on the porch and enjoy the sound and smell of the rain. And if said porch has a tin roof, all the better!

I love falling asleep to the sound of rain. It’s so peaceful!!!
Great post, great point — the little things that could get us down if we let them are less than nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Love rainy days when I don’t have to be doing a lot of stuff outside. Because then you’re either outside in the rain, or inside and wet. I like when I can just be still and watch it all going on around me
great quote! i love leaving church feeling good
YES— I have the WORST case of frizzy hair. i use big sexy hair’s “straight sexy hair” line:
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=big+sexy+hair+smooth&hl=en&prmd=ivns&biw=1307&bih=528&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=6101819778824419957&sa=X&ei=_hx0TdC6MofYgQfJ4IiyBw&ved=0CFgQ8wIwAA#
it’s not the best smelling, but it works!
Thanks so much for the suggestion/link!!
Amen, sista!
I like rainy days for movies and snuggling ; )
So fun your friend is coming to visit you!
those bakery goods look amazing!
Love that quote!
I like rainy days in the summer when it’s warm and I can sit under roof on the porch and read while listening to the sounds of the rain. <3
Ahh if you find any awesome products to tame frizz, please post about them. My hair goes WILD when it's rainy.
I love rainy days!! They’re the best.
Glad you were able to make a good one out of yours, too.

As someone with thick, curly hair, humidity and rain can ruin any good hair-do. Normally, I throw my hair up and put on a cute headband or scarf…and lots of hair gel:)
That coconut mousse pie had me close and reopen your post 3x (after I had read it)! AMAZING! I love that quote and more that that, I love your reminder that we are truly saved by Grace. Sometimes we need a messages that centers us and gets our feet back down to earth, the racing thoughts in our mind to still, and enables us to just focus and BE! Thanks for the reminder!
Barbara
LOVE that quote! My favorite rainy days are ones where I just pamper myself! doing a new workout dvd, painting my nails, trying out a new healthy recipe and of course….snuggling up and watching a good movie are all rainy day favorites!
PS: When it’s a rainy day my hair usually gets an out of control wave…PONYTAILS are all i can do!
Rainy days can be fun…it’s all about your attitude and how you approach your day! I love rainy days where I can just stay inside and read a book or watch a movie.
I posted about the silver linings in rainy days this morning too.
I love that quote.
I LOVE YOUR BLOG! so glad I found ya

i use bumble and bumble defrizz in my hair. i use just a small amount and smooth it through my hair before i blowdry. it’s not too heavy and doesn’t make my hair greasy. i also use it when my hair is dry before i flat iron/curl it.
i am totally with you about being saved by grace.
the love and grace of Jesus is everything to me. thanks gracie for keepin’ it real! i hope your tooth is okay.
thanks for the suggestion!! and God bless
