Hello, my sweets! First of all - I just have to say thank you so incredibly much for all of your support and congratulations. It really means so much to me!
I’ve also got to apologize for the lame “post” earlier…it’s just been one of those days.
…and being out until 2am probably wasn’t conducive to a productive morning.

(Clearly there won’t be much more of that on Monday nights anymore.)
So – onto the details of my new job. To make a long story short, I’ll be the administrative assistant for a commercial real estate appraising firm based in Manhattan.
That’s right - my new job is basically…..the same as my old job!
I don’t discuss my work life too much on the blog, so for those of you who didn’t know, I’ve been working for my dad’s real estate appraising company for the past two years. Since moving to New York, I continued working for his company from home. While working from the comfort of my apartment definitely has its perks, I’ve been dying to get out into the real world! So, starting on Thursday, that’s what I’ll be doing.
So what do I think about this career move? Well, if you would’ve asked me 6 months ago what I hoped my future career would look like, my answer would probably be something along the lines of public relations or advertising. But with all of the changes that have happened in my life over the past year, I’ve realized that God has had something else in the works for me.
You see, after going on dozens of interviews and learning more about those industries, I realized that they…they just aren’t for me. I couldn’t tell you exactly why that is. What I can tell you, though, is that continuing in the real estate industry is a decision I’m really excited and confident about. I guess it’s just in my genes, you know?
The thing is, as much as I love social media and communication, I feel like I’ve already satisfied that passion (and will continue doing so) with GML. To be quite frank, I want my social media skills and passion to be put forth to my own “brand” rather than someone else’s. And, to have the opportunity to learn even more about another industry that I’m interested in…well, I’ve decided that that’s the best direction for me to head in. All in all, I’m really thrilled about this opportunity and where it might lead me. I’m also excited to share this new leg of my journey here on my second job - GML!

In other news, I actually just arrived in Pennsylvania for a dentist appointment tomorrow. I just can’t get a break (except in my molar, clearly), but at least I’m getting it out of the way sooner rather than later.
Thankfully my food-less kitchen was recently filled with some new goodies from Udi’s, so I was able to throw together a peanut butter bagel sandwich for the road rail.

I’ve mentioned before how I’m drawn to gluten free products, and Udi’s has yet to disappoint. I’ve also been snacking on their blueberry muffins.

I approve. highly.
So thank you, Udi’s, for donating delicious treats to this single lady’s pantry

Congrats on an exciting new chapter! Yay!
I work in the Aerospace Industry and also the Wedding Industry…interesting combo no?
Congrats on the new job! I am currently a counselor and honestly, I am not sure if that is the field for me or not. I am still trying to figure that one out.
Congrats on the job, girl!
Amazing products! You can’t even tell they’re GF
I want to be an editor at a fashion magazine. It’s gonna be a rough road though!
Anyways, I love Udi’s too
Congrats on the new job! I’m studying to be a counselor, so I hope to work in the mental health field
That’s so exciting! There’s definitely something exciting and motivating about working in a ‘real’ setting. I just got a job as a therapeutic support staff where I’ll be working with kids and teens with developmental and/or mental health needs! It’s a good inbetween job post undergrad and pre grad school ( i hope)
Delurking here to say congrats on the new job! I too discovered shortly after graduating that what I thought I wanted wasn’t actually what I wanted to do at all!
Also that blueberry muffin looks amazing!
thanks girlie!! for the congrats and for delurking, hehe
xoxo
Congrats again!! I work in the civil engineering field and I love it! Early on in college I would have said the opposite but after some time interning and working full time post graduation, I’ve grown to really enjoy it
congrats again! hope it all goes well for you

industry……um child care? i’m a nanny
someday i would love to work in nutrition/health. i’m looking into going back to school to get a degree in integrative nutrition.
I’m so glad you have really discovered what is right for you!!! So excited for this new adventure in your life!! I am currently working for my family business, but plan to start teaching dancing in the next year!! It will be a big change, but completely worth while!
I work in accounting! Blah! I even have my CPA … I went so far in this field and I’m starting to think it’s just not for me. Actually, I do enjoy taxes, but I don’t work in taxes (the work/life balance ratio scares me), so it might be time for me to start looking elsewhere … I do love writing/editing and am able to do that on the side. : )
Oh and congrats on the new job!
I spy the LIRR!
Congrats on the new job!
hahaha…gotta love the LIRR!!
Congrats on the new job!! My mom is in real estate and loves it! I’m a teacher and well, I’m in the right field for me!
So great that you figured out where you should be! I always thought I wanted to be in advertising, but after a summer internship I realized that was definitely not right! Now I’m in retail…SHOES!
Congratulations on the new job! I hope that it’s an exciting new beginning for you. I’ll graduate with my B.A. in Communication Studies in May, and right now I’m interning at an online health and wellness magazine. I love my internship, so it’d be great if I could find a job in a similar setting!
That’s what I have my B.A. in! I’m so glad I went that route because you can really use it in any industry (clearly the case for me, haha)
I know, I’m glad that I can pretty much apply anywhere!
I know I already said this on twitter, but CONGRATS!!!
I know how good it feels to finally score that first “big girl” job! I hope it’s everything wonderful and more, and that you absolutely love it! <3
thanks again, girlie. you are too sweet
xo
Congrats on the new job!! I’m sure you will love it. I recently quit my job in communications and am starting my own health and wellness coaching business. It is my dream!
Wow, that is a huge step. CONGRATS!!
nom nom nom — that bagel looks delicious
so excited for you and can’t wait to see what beautiful new opportunities await you! xoxo
Congrats! That job sounds perfect!
I’m studying to become a dietitian. It took me a few years to realize this is what I want to do, but I’m glad I finally figured it out!
I’m happy you found something you enjoy rather with going with something you *think* you’d enjoy. There’s always pressure for people to get jobs in the fields they went to school for, but it’s really common that you find something else you like that’s totally unrelated. I went to school to be a teacher and while that’s not happening now I’m also doing admin work at a real estate office, and I really like it.
Yeah, for a while I felt pressure to get a job more related to Communication Studies, but then I remembered that one of the reason’s I chose that field of study is because I can essentially use it in *any* industry!
Wait…so you work in a real estate office too? Cool!!
Congratulations! Starting a new job is always full of excitement!
Woot! Woot! Congrats on the new job girly
I really want to write in nutrition…aka a book one day!
Congrats on the new job!! I’ve never tried any udi’s products, but they’ve been all over wegmans lately. I guess I should change that. I love muffins, so that shouldn’t be hard!
But don’t you see? This is all steps in your calling…you use your interest and passion in marketing, advertising, PR and social media in the real estate industry! Plus, you have that “look and personality” that makes you “work” in real estate I can tell just from your blog (which I love but am rare to drop a line).
This is al part of the process.
Perfect!!!
Thank you, Missy! This comment put a smile on my face
I know I’ve already already congratulated you on twitter, but I just have to again! CONGRATS on the new job!!!!!!
I work as a health educator at the YMCA. It’s definitely what I went to school for (undergrad = a BS in Health & Exercise Science and I’m currently pursing my Masters in Public Health!) Love the health & wellness industry
Go you! CONGRATS on the new job, so so exciting. I started my first job after graduating college a month ago, and it’s great. And you’re in MANHATTAN… sigh. Awesome.
Congrats to you Gracie!!! I am so happy for you, Im sure working from home has been fun, but yes, getting out there and being around people is much better, especially when you are so sweet and have a great personality like you! U need to be around people at work! So happy for you!!!
Definitely public health and nutrition!! Congrats girlie girl, Manhattan is GORG, you are so lucky.
Congrats! I’m just finishing up my B.Comm in accounting and will be starting the job hunt this spring!
Ahhh!! Yayy, congratulations again, love! I am so thrilled for you!
Also, I have a few social media/ blog Q’s I would love your help with. That cool with you?
I got my degree in magazine journalism. I’m writing as a copywriter in Ohio for now, to gain experience, build my resume, and go back to a city to get a better-paying job that’s (I hope) at a magazine. Big things will happen someday!
Anyway, enjoy your day! xoxoxo
of course! throw ‘em at me! gmlgracie[at]gmail.com

Congratulations on your new job…very exciting, especially the way the economy is right now. I hope it goes well and that it’s a great fit for you:) i can’t wait to hear about it!
Congrats. It is alwasy so exciting to get a new job and a little scary but alwasy worth it. I am currently working for an insurance company but I am hoping to start working in public policy.
Congratulations Gracie! I actually had a similar job over the summer and part-time through the fall working at a property management company. It’s fun and rewarding to help people find a new home! I am a junior in college majoring in finance and I currently intern 2 days a week at a private wealth management division of a major financial services provider. And after weeks of applications and interviews I JUST landed a summer internship in business operations at another big financial services provider-I am SO relieved!
PS I finished reading your blog from start to finish a few days ago and loved it! You have such a fun voice and writing style and it helped inspire me to start my own
CONGRATS!
-from my new blog
Congrats on the new job! I worked as an admin assistant for an investment firm for a little over four years and LOATHED it. I’m currently unemployed, but have so far received 3 acceptances to Masters programs in historic preservation, and I can’t wait to start (err, gotta figure out where to go first, though!).
A little late, but congratulations on the new job! That’s exciting!
I like gluten free product too, but that’s because I can’t eat gluten.
I’d love to see more gluten free products to get more ideas of foods I can eat!
