blondie overload.

Are you sick of me talking about blondies yet?

Because I could talk more about scones, if you like. I actually made some yesterday…

…no? Okay fine, back to the blondies. Yesterday I came across Evan’s recipe for Coconut Blondies and, well, I obviously had no option other than making them as soon as possible.

To. die.

I halved the recipe and baked it in a cake pan. The consistency was different than the blondies I’m used to, but still delicious. In fact, it sort of reminded me of coconut cream pie! And not just because of how I sliced them :)

Speaking of blondies, I have an appointment today to get my hair all freshie fresh. And when I say freshie fresh, I actually mean finally get rid of my horrendous roots.

Since I can’t visit my favorite Pennsylvanian hair stylist, though, I’m trying out a new salon. Let’s all say a little prayer that the new stylist and I share the same definition of “highlights.” The last thing I need is to leave looking like…

No. Just…no.

Are you a blondie? Or a brunette bombshell? (I’m naturally the latter…surprise!)

You’re a brunette!? Wow, that is a surprise! I can’t even picture you with brown hair - the blonde looks so great/natural on you!! I think you should share some old pictures one of these days! :D

Yep! Well, my hair might just be light brown? I’m not really sure because I’ve been getting highlights since I’m a teenager. I stick with the blond because I have lighter skin and my eyebrows are literally WHITE, haha.

I’m a brunette and alllllways wanted to be blonde when I was younger. Now I just try to own it. Brunette doesn’t equal boring! You look great with blonde hair, but I think dark hair with light eyes (I think you have blue? ..now I feel creepy) is SO stunning. Anywho, good luck today, I know it’s so nerve wracking trying a new place, but I’m sure you’ll walk out happy!

yep blue eyes….not creepy at all ;) I like the look of dark hair with light eyes too buuuut I feel like I look better as a blond (mostly because of my pale skin and white eyebrows, haha).

Brunette but I did have my hair blonde for a while about 5 years ago! It is hard to mantain though for sure ; )

Hope the salon is great!!! NO KATE!!!!!!!!! lol!

Good luck today! New salons always make me a little bit anxious because my mop is a bit high maintenance. I have really dark hair and I’m sporting some roots because my lowlights and highlights need some love right about now! I am a freak with black hair, pale skin, and green eyes, so I like to add some caramel highlights to balance it out a bit.

I can’t believe you’re naturally a brunette!!!! I was blonde briefly but now I’m back to natural brunette!! It’s so easy to maintain and I looked awful as a blonde!!! Good luck at your new salon!! Post some before and after pics girl!! XOXO

OMG her hair is hideous. “NO” is right.
I’m not a blondie or brunette bombshell actually. More of a… chestnut chica? lol (Couldn’t think of any other ch- word) all natural, though :-)
Good luck with the root touchup!!

Love your baked goods, the look so delicious! I used to be a natural blondie but it seems to be getting darker over time and now I’m kind of mousey - not quite brown, not quite blonde!

Kate looks SO miffed in that picture, haha.

I’m actually a blonde, but I got really bored of it one day and ended up dying it red…kept it up for about two years and am just now finally starting to head back to blonde-ville

I actually thought I fit in as a “blonde” for years, bleaching my hair blonde and according to my “look” I stood out and I was different. I could also add colors to my hair like pink & be ‘punk rock’ hahah. Then, about a year ago, I was thinking about how I would feel looking back at my white blonde hair and whether or not I’d be okay with that in 20 or so years. Then, let’s say I got pregnant? I couldn’t upkeep my roots safely. So I made the very thought out decision to go back to natural, which is a light beige/dark blonde. I was stuck in a rut with my now ex who thought I only looked pretty with blonde hair, and now, being out of that relationship, i felt liberated to change it. I got low lights every where, and although it took several expensive visits to the salon to get it down to a natural/undetectably natural look, it was SO worth it. I have very low maintenance hair now when it comes to color and my skin tone goes so well with it too!

ASHLEY! I want to see your new hair :) Wish I still had a Facebook right about now, haha.

I can relate to what you went through with your past relationship/hair choices. There were a few things I didn’t wear (i.e. red lipstick) because my ex didn’t like them. I mean, I don’t blame him in any way, I told him stuff I liked/didn’t like all the time too! I guess that just sometimes comes with the territory of being in a relationship. But I totally know what you mean about feeling “liberated” :)

Those cake pan blondies looks amazing! I love cookie cakes..so they kind of remind me of those. :P

I’m a brutnette and know I wouldn’t look great as a blonde. I would have never guessed you’re a brunette naturally! Blonde looks so natural on you!

Totally rando, but I just read your “the only girl in the world pt.3″ post and cannot believe you don’t tweeze! Your eyebrows are so perfect! I know that’s a bizarre compliment and I probably sound pretty creepy, but seriously… I’m jealous of your eyebrows :)

    • says

hehe, thanks Natalie!! Yeah, I’m pretty happy with the shape so I just don’t touch ‘em! I have very light/thin eyebrows, and I’ve heard that tweezing can sometimes mess with eyebrow growth. Whether that’s true or not, I’d rather hold on to what I’ve got, haha. Not to mention I had a stint of over-tweezing when I was about 14, and I definitely don’t want to go that route again :P

  12. says

Brunette! I think I’m going to keep it this way because I tried to go blonde when I was younger and it turned ORANGE! And then I tried to dye it darker brown a couple years ago and it turned BLACK and I looked HORRIBLE. So I shall stick with what works!

  13. says

with your skin tone you would also make a gorgeous auburn/strawberry blonde!
Im naturally a golden brunette…and im not dying it till I go gray!

  14. Marissa says

I’m a brunette, but natch it’s mousy, so I darken it up (not black, too gothy). Currently it’s a deep chesnutty color but I like to lighten it a little in the warmer months. Do you always stay the same color blond or do you change it up every now and the?

  15. says

heyyy! Just found your blog :-) I love your header - pearls, red nail polish and cookies - you’re my kinda gal! ;-) Can you believe I’d never even heard of a blondie til i started blogging! They look yummy!

  16. says

I’m also a natural blondie! I dyed my hair bright orange once in my rebellious middle school years. Lets just say that I was not anticipating how horrible blonde roots on faded orange hair would look. Ever since I have kept my natural blonde hair color.
