a birthday recap.

Let me start off by saying thank you all so, so much for the birthday wishes. Reading them has pretty much made my weekend :)

For the most part, my birthday was just like any other day…but a particularly great one. One of the highlights was definitely the weather, which was nothing short of perfection. I snagged the opportunity to wear a spring-ish outfit.

dress and flats: Urban Outfitters, coat: Forever 21, scarf: H&M.

A few hours into work I received a beautiful surprise in the form of yellow roses - courtesy of mom, dad, and my sister.

Not going to lie - getting flowers delivered to my desk made me feel all sorts of special :) Thanks, familia!

The boss let me leave work early, so around 4:30 I was picked up by the Erica-mobile. Upon my entry I was given the only gift that I really truly needed on my birthday: cupcakes!

Yesplease&thankyou. Thanks, E :)

After a leisurely stroll through SoHo and a stint at happy hour, the two of us met up with Amanda and headed to Fig & Olive for an out-of-this-world dinner. I had been to Fig & Olive once before and specifically remembered drooling over their crostinis. For an appetizer, the girls and I spit three: 1) Shrimp, Avocado, Cilantro, Tomato 2) Eggplant, Basil, Sundried Tomato and 3) Prosciutto, Ricotta, Fig, Olive, Walnut (my favorite!).

I don’t usually order salads as my entree as restaurants, but the salad menu at Fig & Olive was pretty impressive. I was feeling especially carnivorous, so I went with the Grilled Thyme Chicken Paillard Salad: Free range marinated chicken breast with thyme, arugula, haricots verts, red bell pepper, tomato, roasted potato, red onions, avocado, lemon dressing – Picholine Olive Oil.

Does that look like nearly an entire chicken to you?? Because it was. And it was superb.

At dinner I was also surprised by a gift from Amanda and Erica – a necklace from Anthropologie.

How gorgeous?? Yep…I have thee best friends in the world.

Unfortunately, because the flash on my camera is broken, photos from the rest of last night are…non-existent. While I wish there was documentation of the fun, there’s something very freeing about not feeling the need to snap photos and instead just living. Na’mean?

And now, here I am, bumming on the couch with zero responsibilities. Does it get much better?

I do have a few things I want to mark off the to-do list, so off I go. Enjoy your Saturday, sweets. xoxo G

How did you spend your last birthday? Do you have one coming up??

Gorgeous outfit! I like it when you post them, I feel inspired :)
I’m glad you had a super birthday - my last one sucked (I had 4 exams that week) and I have a feeling this one (may 27th) will too - slap bang in my finals again! Boohiss :(

I am so glad that you had a great birthday! I adore that necklace. Anthropologie jewelry is so beautiful. My last birthday was overshadowed by my wedding which followed 9 days after. My birthday is in 2 weeks, so I can have a do-over this year. 😉

Love Anthro accessories! Especially some of their kitchenware! glad you enjoyed the birthday.

I’ll be on a plane to Europe on my next bday :)

Looks like you had a great birthday! My birthday is the same day as my parents’ anniversary so we tend to celebrate both occasions by having a special family dinner. I used to hate having to share my “special” day, but now I kind of like it.

That looks like such a great birthday. Those flowers are amazingly beautiful too. I don’t normally like roses(like, at all. As in they’re my least favorite flowers) but those yellow ones sure are pretty.

Everything about your birthday looks amazing - the cupcakes, the dinner, the necklace, YOU! 😀 I’m glad it was such a great time!

For my last birthday I went out to dinner with my family but never ended up celebrating with my friends. This year I want to have a party!
