I’m usually a very “up and at ‘em” person when I wake up in the morning. But today? I’m pretty sure I’ll be heading back to bed soon after typing this post.
Yesterday was a long day. A messy day at times too. But it was also a great one.
I headed into a rainy Manhattan around noon for an interview, which thankfully went really well (or at least I think so! Details on that to come). I say “thankfully” mainly because the elements - hurricane force winds and torrential downpours - weren’t exactly working in my favor . So, yes, I was that girl whose umbrella was turning inside out while she was trying to fix her hair and stop her dress from blowing up. No big deal.
I spent the rest of my afternoon bunkered down in Starbucks finishing up work. And inhaling snacking on a cinnamon scone, naturally.

Have I mentioned that scones are one of my top 5 favorite foods? ‘Cause they are.
Then I headed downtown to meet up with Gabriela and her good friend Mikey to get started on some fun evening plans. (Side note: a huge thank you to Gabs for being highlighted on her first Feature Friday post – I’m so flattered! :))
After some happy hour hopping (HHH?), we ended up at Dos Caminos, a Mexican restaurant in Soho. Considering Mexican is my favorite cuisine, I was a happy girl.
I was even happier when this ginormous bowl of guacamole was placed in front of us!

I loaded up – starting with chips – but eventually just spooning globs onto my plate.
For my entree I went with the Lobster Ceviche - habanero infused coconut and citrus marinade, mango pico de gallo, red chile oil.

(both of the above photos stolen from Gabs)
I love ceviche but have never had a lobster version, and it was no joke. Delicious! Or, should I say, delicioso? 😉
We headed out on the town for another few hours after dinner. It was a great time!

Around 12:30, though, the long day caught up with me. After many failed attempts at getting a cab ride home, a train delay, and another mile or so of walking – well, let’s just say that’s why I’m giving myself permission to bum it out today!
…but that’s what Saturdays are for, right?
Do you ever go back to bed? What’s the latest you’ve ever slept in??

Hah, for the longest time I thought it was ‘Up and Adam.’ Why I never questioned what it meant is beyond me. I’ll admit I didn’t figure out the real saying til…last year? eeeesh.
I can only go back to bed on very rare occasions. Your Friday may qualify as one of those. Yup, I’m pretty sure it does. The latest I’ve ever slept in was 1130am, and that was New Years day 2000. Sad right?!

Found my way to your blog this week and wanted to leave a note to say hello! I’m terrible at sleeping in, but definitely embracing vegging out this morning. I need to do this more often!

Oh I am a sleeper at heart
My parent’s used to get so mad. I could sleep until 2 in the afternoon on the weekend! I try to limit that now though because I feel like it is such a waste of a day. At least you had fun with friends last night so it was worth it, right?
Awh you should go back to bed - if you need it, have it!
I never ever go back to bed, once I’m awake that’s it! No naps, nothing..it’s a tiring life.
It appears as though you’ve earned the opportunity to hit the sack. Back to bed, missy!
I will easily go back to bed if I am still tired or if I need some rest. When I have time, of course!
I’m sure the interview went great! I never go back to bed. Once I’m up that’s it. I do take naps though.
I love Dos Caminos! They actually have a really awesome chicken dish. A little counterintuitive, I know.
A couple of Saturdays ago, I woke up, had pancakes, and went straight back to bed. It was absolutely amazing. Then I woke up and ate more, and then stayed in my PJ’s the rest of the day! You girls are gorgeous, I love guac times a million, I’m so glad you girls had a rockin Friday on the town!:)
i usually dont go back to bed because i LOVE mornings.. BUT the latest ive slept WITHOUT jetlag is until 11:45! record timing, I know!>. SO happy your interview went well!!!!!
I love days when you can climb back into bed! My husband goes to work at 6:45 so I usually get up with him and make him a lunch etc. most mornings I end up just starting my day but sometimes I crawl back into bed and enjoy the cozy-ness!
I think I have slept all day before (because I stayed up alll night) but my most recent sleep achievement(or not) was going for a hour nap at about 11 in the morning and my husband coming home from work at 4:30 waking me up. This was after sleeping till 11pm-9am the night before. Apparently I needed it.
I’m so glad you came out with us!! Although I’m sorry about the delayed train- such a major bummer
We had an interesting evening in my apartment as well haha.
You need to teach me your photoshopping ways, btw, bc the edits you did to those photos are AMAZING.
Do you mean your photos? Because I didn’t edit those at all!
I usually sleep in on weekends, anywhere from 10-12. I wake up so early during the week and go to sleep so late, that I don’t feel guilty at all
Sleep is good!
go back to bed, girl.
I’ve had an EXHAUSTING week starting a new job in a new city, and waking up early and going to bed late, and missing workouts, so I felt like I HAD to get up early and workout today.
It’s 930, and I’m still in my PJs. And that’s okay. Sometimes you just need to rest. Life works itself out.
I can’t sleep in, though. After two years of living in Africa and going to bed at 9 and getting up at 5, for me, sleeping in past 8 is hard. This week was the most sleep-deprived I’ve been in over two years and despite going to sleep after midnight I made it to a whopping 7:42AM before I got up. Oh well.
Dos Caminos’ guac is delicious! Sounds like a fun night, minus the monsoon we had in NYC yesterday!
I think anyone deserves to go back to bed after facing an interview. End of story. Looks like you had a fun time in the city, though! Looking forward to hearing about the possible job offer 😉
Yum- I love Guac!

I sooo rarely go back to bed…once I’m up, normally I’m up and there’s no two ways about it! However before I got laid off (yesterday, sigh) I worked graveyard shifts til 4am on weekends and after those I’d sleep in ’til noon. That’s about as late as I go lol!!
I slept until 12:30 one time. Granted, I had been out quite late the night before but I still couldn’t believe what time it was when I saw the clock!
I don’t even remember the last time I went back to bed after I woke up. I used to do it all the time in college!
Hope your interview went well! Lucky girl - getting to go out in New York City
look at you two stunnnnna’s!!! so pretty
oh scones are SO good!
What a gorg photo of you two! 😀
The latest I’ve slept in recently has been 9 am… I can’t seem to stay asleep longer than that!
Scones ARE DEFINITELY in my top five favorite foods too, I always used to get one at Sbux.
I cannot sleep in past ten on my own, don’t think I ever have (straight through I mean).
Ooh mexican. we had mexican tonight at my college but the guac didn’t look nearly as good as that!
I have a weird internal alarm clock that wakes me up early every morning!! I’m talking like 530-600!! Granted, I crash at about 10pm.
I did try to sleep in this morning, or I had all intentions of doing so. success? oh no : )
i love love love happy hour hopping! Glad you and Gab could meet up and have a fun night on the town! That is so fun :o) Makes me wish other bloggers lived near me. Are you ever afraid of walking along at night? I am if the distance is longer than a couple blocks.
Yep, walking alone at night isn’t my favorite thing in the world, that’s for sure! But I’m always very on guard and just stay out in the open as much as possible.

Have you been to Alice’s Tea Cup? They have the most amazing scones! So far I have only tried their pumpkin scone
No, but I’ve been wanting to!! My best friend has been there and raves about it. She actually made their pumpkin scones one time (she has their recipe book) and they were TO DIE!
Stttoooppp tempting me with the guac. Avocados are 2.49/lb right now.
I can definitely go back to bed for a whole slew of hours, which is why I just stay up once I’m up. 😉
Some days I totally feel like going back to bed! The warm covers call to me!
PS - I love your top! Super cute!
Thanks! Urban Outfitters
I’ve had days where I slept in WAY too late!!! Those are also the night I don’t get to bed until 4am..I don’t recommend it!

Mmm…guacamole 😛 Bummy Saturdays are the best!
Good food and good friends always calls for a perfect day!
i am exhausted tonight but decided to hop online and read through my fave blogs before committing myself to sleeeeepy land. i have always laughed that my favorite hobby is sleeping! well, i guess it is one of my top 10 hobbies
the value of resting and recharging is immeasurable if you ask me.
i know many people who say they can never sleep in or take naps, which just amazes me!
in answer to your question, i think the longest i’ve ever slept happened about 4 years ago. i had been very sick and it took quite a toll on me physically. i remember it was a Saturday morning. I woke up feeling terrible and decided to go to Target and buy the latest season of Nip/Tuck and was planning on watching it all day while I laid in bed resting. I ended up falling asleep and woke up about 17 hours later!!!!!! Craziness, I know! It really was one of those situations where I had no idea what day it was! I hope I’m never that sick again b/c it was brutal to recover.
Dos Caminos is good. we went to the one in vegas and had their guac. yum.
I go back to bed a lot! haha. I slept into 5 pm once, don’t tell! I was sick in my defense.
