After a very long and slushy day in the city, last night’s meal with birthday girl Gabriela was exactly what the doctor ordered.
We visited Pure Food and Wine, which I had heard rave reviews about. I couldn’t wait to try it! I also didn’t know what to expect, though, because I’m not exactly well-versed in raw vegan cuisine. But, let’s just say that this non-vegan who loves vegan food was in heaven. Pure heaven.
We each ordered our own S&M salads, which included a ginormous pile of greens, avocado, rosemary crackers (emphasis on the crack), hemp seeds, dulse, and a pumpkinseed lemon dressing.

We also split the Zucchini, Local Roma and Heirloom Tomato Lasagna - basil pistachio pesto, sun-dried tomato marinara, macadamia pumpkin seed ricotta.

Before trying this, I would’ve said that a pasta-less lasagna was blasphemy. But the flavors in this lasagna were so insanely good that I didn’t miss the pasta one bit. How do they do that…?!
I don’t think I’ve ever been out to dinner with Gabriela where dessert was not ordered (a woman after my own heart, clearly), so it was onto the next course.
I went with the Pumpkin Cheesecake Parfait (with Brown Ale Caramel, Vanilla Cream and Candied Pecans), which Gabriela assured was a very “me” dessert. She was right.

Once again, I’m baffled by how a cheesecake/ice cream dessert was complied without any cheese or cream. But I don’t ask questions. I just eat.

Of course, the best part was reuniting with my favorite (and newly 21-year-old) blend!

Happy birthday, Gabs 🙂

Awww thanks again for celebrating with me last night love!! I’m glad you love dessert as much as I do 🙂
That last picture cracks me up. I look so freaking proud of my huge sundae and the sun-like candle shine.
“I don’t ask questions. I just eat” HAHA yes, amen to that.
You two are beautiful and I’m so glad you got to spend her 21st together sharing good food and laughs 🙂
What a great birthday dinner! I’ve heard SO much about that restaurant… next time I’m home it’s to the city I go for some raw foods 🙂
Isn’t that cheesecake INSANE? We spent a good half hour trying to figure out how they get it so smooth! Wish I could’ve come out with you two!!
We’ll have to plan a dinner date soon!!
aahahahh i JUST EAT.. perfectly put there
im insanely jealous of that food- i would never have thought raw food could be so taasty until entering blogworld and i sure LOVE IT
Everything looks delish! Pure Food & Wine is one of the few vegan restaurants in NYC that I still haven’t tried yet. I might have to make it my priority.
Mmm that dessert looks so good!!! I love the idea of the pasta-less lasanga, too!

Girl, how’d you let all that dessert go to waste! Look how much was left in that glass!?! lol j/k It looked devine!
That food looks amazing! I’ve never been to a vegan or raw food restaurant. I am really interested in trying it. Pure looks great! 🙂
As a fellow non-vegan who loves vegan food-it all looks DELICIOUS!!!!
Now I am craving cheesecake!! Good thing it’s Indulgence Friday:)
You girls are gorgeous, I’m so glad yall had a great night!
That looks like so much fun! I love that restaurant.
“I don’t ask questions. I just eat.” LOL You are AWESOME! 😀

What a fun night! Happy birthday to Gabriela!
Hahaha “I don’t question. I just eat” that sounds like my brother. Happy Birthday to Gabriela!
Ahhh so fun! Looks like y’all had a great time 🙂
We have a place like that in OKC (crazy, I know) and I love every single thing I’ve tried. I’ve actually done a lot of research on how they make the dishes, which makes it even more amazing because it’s all so labor intensive.
Everything looks amazing even though it’s raw vegan!! The dessert looks beyond words though!! Glad you girls had a good time!
There’s nothing I love more than blend love.
And that’s not just because I coined the term.
I think I might have to check this place out next trip to NYC!

Hi! I just discovered your blog this week and I like it a lot!
I enjoy reading your posts! All that raw-vegan food looks great. I also am not a vegan but enjoy trying vegan foods! After reading this post it makes me want to search for vegan restaurants in my city! :o)
“But I don’t ask questions. I just eat.”
Hahaha love this! I wish that could be my motto too, but I have to ask “Are there nuts in this?” before I eat ANYTHING. 😛
Glad you two had such an awesome dinner!
The picture of you on Gabriela’s blog was really cute!and I would have eaten the dessert no questions asked also!
Happy Birthday to her!! And that dessert looks intense! Glad you two had a great night. 🙂
Haha! What you said about not asking questions and just eating was so true! Glad you had a great night. I love that last picture of Gabriela - so cool looking!

YUm YUM Everything looks great. So jealous that you got to eat dinner not only with the beautiful Gabriela but PureFood and Wine, still a place on my list to eat at 😉
YUM! There is NO such thing as a vegan restaurant anywhere near me, but I would love to go to one. Looks like you beautiful ladies had an amazing time! That parfait - you must recreate it so I can recreate it - hehe!
I usually try to eat less of my “regular food” just so I can eat more dessert :). That dessert looks so good!
I’m dying to go! We should all have a blogger meet-up there sometime soon 😉
So jealous! Of both the company and the food.. looks delicious!
Aw, looks like such a fun dinner-good food, goods friends! Can’t beat that. 🙂
