my favorite diet foods.

If you haven’t noticed, the word “diet” is often used as a four-lettered word – especially among healthy living blogs. And, for the most part, I fall within that camp. I’m a big believer that fad diets can set up unrealistic expectations and be quite unhealthy for people (although, the word in itself can also be used to simply describe habitual eating patterns, but we’ll save that for another time).

I’ve got to say, though, that there are some foods that are touted for being good for weight loss/dieting that I actually love and eat often. I mean, just because I might not be on a diet, who says I can’t enjoy these things?

For example, you’ll almost always find Laughing Cow cheese in my fridge. It has a creaminess and flavor that you can’t really find in other cheeses. It works perfectly in my favorite casserole meals, like cheesy rice bowls and egg scrambles.

Sometimes I really think that VitaTops are far too delicious to be just 100 calories. I tend to eat two at a time as a go-to dessert. The fact that they’re ready in just about 30 seconds is the icing on the cake! (or should I say, “the nut butter on the Vitatop?”)

Rice cakes are probably the most typical diet food, don’t you think? While it’s true that they’re not necessarily the most nutrient-dense of choices out there, I just love the airy texture and crunch. Not to mention they make a great vessel for (you guessed it) nut butter.

I’m pretty picky when it comes to frozen meals, but I think that Lean Cuisine paninis are seriously SO. GOOD! I feel like I might be on my own with this one the most, but I really do find them to be impressive for a diet meal.

I don’t drink nearly as much diet soda as I did years ago, but I do still enjoy a can every once in a while. I find it to be so much more crisp and refreshing than regular soda.

Although Stevia is all-natural, it tends to get put in the same category as artificial sweeteners. I really love it, though, because it takes such a tiny amount to get the perfect level of sweetness. I sometimes use Stevia in baking but generally just for my oatmeal and coffee.

Do you have any favorite “diet” foods? What are they?

My secret diet food would have to be shirataki noodles. It’s a type of Japanese noodles with only 10 calories per serve, and it makes u really full. Certainly a really good way to cut calories:) It’s a diet secret amongst many Japanese women.

as someone who lives alone, i really dont mind lean cuisines. i only eat certain ones, and really only once or twice a week, but after work all day, then gym sesh, getting stuff ready for the next day, they are damn convenient. i also love sugar-free vanilla creamer for my daily cups of coffee, dannon light and fit yogurt (but honestly i eat a lot of plain yogurt, too)…sometimes a little sweet treat is delish at night. and for some reason, i love cool whip. like, could eat a tub of it. no idea why!

careful on spray butter. if you look into it actually has a ton of calories. try promise ff. it actually resembles butter with an honest 5 cals per tbsp. much healthier for ya if ya read the ingredients too.

This actually reminds me of another one of my favorite “diet” foods - Land’o Lakes spreadable butter (made with olive oil). It’s delicious! And much easier to spread than regular butter.
