GML’s first birthday.

That’s right – one year ago today, this little old blog was born 😀 In one way it feels like the past year flashed before my eyes, but it also sort of feels like I’ve been blogging for a lifetime!

Whether you’ve been a longtime reader or you just stumbled across GML, you’ve probably noticed that this blog has gone through a decent amount of changes over the past year, such as:

  • beginning Girl Meets Health as a WordPress.com blog, where I posted my daily meals and workouts.
  • GMH becoming self-hosted in February.
  • a new layout/header in June.
  • Girl Meets Health becoming Girl Meets Life.
  • yet another new layout/header change in November.

The most significant evolution that has happened over the past year, though, was finding my own writing style and voice through blogging. For some reason I thought I was a decent writer before starting a blog, but looking back at some of my first posts makes me cringe! I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I was never 100% confident in the content, which is why changing to GML was a decision that I’m so glad to have made. I’m happy to say that I have finally found my happy place when it comes to blogging, and I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store!

With all of that being said, GML would never have made it this far without YOU – my amazing and supportive readers. Just knowing that I have a huge circle of friends out there is all the motivation I need to keep on keepin’ on! Thank you for your encouraging comments and emails – they really do mean the world to me. And for those of you who don’t usually comment – a special shout-out goes to you! I was you, and I sincerely appreciate the fact that you take the time to visit.

As I mentioned earlier, improving GML is something that I hope to work on in 2011, and I hope that you’re along for the ride! Here’s to another 12 months of meeting life…and blogging about it 🙂

xoxo G

    Happy Bloggy Birthday!!

I just found your blog and I LOVED this post! I am about 3 months into blogging and I am definitely still trying to find my way and figure out what direction I am going with it. It has been a very positive addition to my life though 😀

    Happy Blog Birthday!

Congrats on a wonderful first year 🙂 It is kind of crazy how our writing styles change. Looking back on some of my first posts I can’t even believe how much my writing has evolved. I don’t think I’m a great writer now, but I’m definitely better than when I started 🙂

    And Happy New Year!

Thanks Amanda! I used an oldschool version of Adobe Photoshop to make the header. I took the photo myself and then just edited it a bit.

    Happy Blog Birthday!

P.S. I made your Cake Batter Blondies, and while I love chocolate, I’d choose a blondie over a brownie any day and this was a great recipe for them!

Hey Bethany - so glad you liked them!! You can use the same method with a chocolate cake mix for delicious, dense brownies too 😉
