You know, adjusting to my new home may not be so tough after all! It will still take some time, but practicing my usual creature comforts has definitely made the transition seem less daunting.
This morning I woke up and instantly made my first pot of coffee…and it was a delicious one. There are few things worse than bad coffee, so I considered this to be a good sign.

It was apparently a well-caffeniated cup of coffee too because it gave me the urge to go on an organizing rampage. There’s still more to be done, but I’m at least making some headway.

And then…I worked! As excited as I am to start a new job in the future, I’m definitely going to miss what I now am calling my “office:”

Later in the afternoon Amanda came by to hang out and catch up on some work with me. Hooray for having at least one friend in NY 🙂
We grabbed lunch from Whole Foods, naturally.

…and painted our nails. Also naturally.

Clearly work was slow today 😉
Plans for the rest of the night include some baking and a date with Jillian.

Actually, scratch that. I think I’ll reschedule.
(Which means I strategically placed those items for nothing. Oops!)
Goodnight, doll babes! xoxo G
Do you have a secret to making good coffee? Mine is to always put an extra spoonful of grounds, aka “one for the pot.”

congrats on the new place!
i always throw in a pinch of cinnamon to my coffee grounds!
Not a coffee drinker at all. I’ve actually never made my own- yes, crazy!! Glad your new place is starting to feel like home 🙂
I always make strong coffee. The Husband hates it, I love it!
I’m glad you’re feeling at home!
Nothing like starting off the day with a perfect cup of coffee! Your new place looks cute!
Ha- I’m the opposite of you with coffee. I find that leveling the tablespoons-meaning no extra-makes a good pot of coffee. I’ll have to try your trick, though. I’l just make sure to level that extra tablespoon. lol
dont you just LOVE it when coffee turns out *perfect*…i mean there is nothing better. I believe it’s blind luck b/c i do the same thing every day and some days are just…better!
I strategically misplace my gym shoes often 😉 good luck moving in!
xoxo
Lo
I like to mix pumpkin pie spice into my coffee grounds…it gives the coffee a little more flavor and kick.

Thanks for the comment Mark! Glad you enyjoed the video. Yeah, this was my first go at home roasting. I agree that stirring the beans during the process helps to rid the beans of the chaff and ensures that they are rotating properly. Preheating isn’t necessary, no. Take care!
Yeah I have been skipping my workout dates for the winter, that is what the new year is for!

My secret to the perfect pot of coffee is have my mom make it. Seriously, I have yet to figure out how to make it taste very good.
I just bought 30 day shred on Monday and have yet to try it out.
Your place looks like it’s going to be super cute!!!
Aw, your new home will be great! No tricks for my coffee… I can’t stand how sometimes it tastes better than others!
Definitely looks like everything is starting to fall into place. YAY! 😀
Yes, a good cup of coffee is key to settling in! Sometimes, I sprinkle in cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice into the grounds for a different taste.

I am still adjusting to my new place too!
Good coffee - um, lately going to a local coffee shop has been it for me 🙂 Need lots of it lately.
Best of luck to you in your new adventure in NYC! I see many great things happening for you!
My mom likes strong coffee too!
You just reminded me of how badly I need to work out.
I’m seriously cravving a workout right now. It’s ridiculous. WIth my back and all its hard bc I can’t run or easily get my adrenaline up and running unless its with stupid biking!:(
I’m so glad you’re starting to feel more at home - such a great feeling!
I believe in making a STRONG pot of coffee, nothing worse than watery java. Sometimes we’d add some cocoa powder for an extra kick.
I’m obsessed with the miscellaneous drawers chilling next to your bed. Hilar!
my secret to a perfect cup of coffee? Mama’s keurig machine. Nothing like it.
Funny story about those drawers. I FORGOT THE STINKIN’ DRESSER THAT THEY GO IN!! Hence the stack-age. Duh, me!!
I’m glad you’re getting yourself settled in! 😀 That’s such a great feeling.
My secret to a good cup of coffee is to microwave my milk first and froth it. It adds a little extra something!
That WF lunch looks really good right now. And that Jillian DVD kicked my butt!
Where in NY do you live??
Hey Sara! Long Island 🙂

Where on LI? That’s where I grew up and lived until I was 25. Then I moved to Pennsylvania! The opposite of you. 🙂

For extra delicious coffee drop a chai tea bag in with your grounds. Soooo Good!!!!
