If you haven’t noticed, the healthy living blog world has gotten some flack as of late. Without going into my (a million and one) opinions on that, I will say that there are a heck of a lot of things I’m grateful to that community for – most of them being related to my favorite thing: FOOD.
Let’s be honest here – up until about a week ago, I didn’t even know what Kefir was…
A creamy, yogurty, smoothie-like concoction? I like.
And what about naan? It’s common enough, I guess, but I don’t think I’d have enough creativity to discover that it makes the perfect pizza crust.
It’s unlikely that I’d bake a batch of Vegan Pumpkin Blondies if I hadn’t stumbled upon blogs…
…and I definitely wouldn’t have topped them with a nut butter I shelled out $10 for.
I must say that this particular jar was worth the dough, though.
While I still consider myself more of an ice cream girl, I must admit that frozen yogurt (or should I say fro-yo?) isn’t half bad.
So go ahead and hate all you want. I’ll be busy eating.
- I know I’ve asked this before, but what’s your favorite found-via-blogs food(s)?

Probably a whole new love of nut butters!
I have 3: kale (in chip form), nutritional yeast, and coconut butter!
Definitely without a doubt the discovery of oats in a jar and overnight oats!!
Dates and almond butter! And I agree: I get my best ideas from blogs.
Pumpkin oatmeal, topping my oats with peanut butter, brussels sprouts, raw desserts, green monsters, Ezekiel bread, and coconut milk ice cream to name a few!! Man, without blogs, I would be so naive to a LOT of amazing foodie things!
Overnight Oats, Barney Butter, and Brussel sprouts
I made those blondies too! They’re SOO good. I made them with chocolate chips though, I can never resist adding chocolate to things.
I would have never thought to put spinach in a smoothie… but it’s probably the most brilliant idea ever!!
that and PB&Co
Peanut flour is my newest obsession- I just discovered it yesterday!! And yeah, the nut butter thing is a definite win. I’ve always loved PB, but I probably wouldn’t have such extensive flavor knowledge!!
Where did you find peanut flour? I want!!
You can get peanut flour at Trader Joes.
are you going to allow PB flour to replace the real thing?!?!
Doubtful! But I’ve never tried it, so I can’t say
i’ve been so inspired to create new things, which is amazing because out here in africa its easy to just give up nd not even try! i learned about oatmeal (seriously) and a million different ways to eat it, the importance of breakfast, peanut butter dates
and a ton of other things that have made my life more interesting.
I love Kefir but haven’t had it in forever!
I’m obsessed with the frozen PB dates you introduced me to, stirring in egg whites into oatmeal for a protein boost, and breakfast cookies. Thank goodness for the blog world to introduce me to all those things!
home-made coconut butter, quinoa, and all kinds of pumpkin combos. Love it all!
What have I found thanks to blogs?? Hmm…well, I discovered PB2 to put in my shakes. Also, April (Foods of April) gave me the idea to put PB on my sweet potatoes (flippin’ yum!) Oh, and I think I went out bought Chia seeds after you posted all the nutritional benefits! Love those, too! Oh, and Heather (Heather Eats Almond Butter) made me realize how much I love oat BRAN:)
all nut butters, larabars, oiaj/overnight oats… who could pick a favorite when food blogs have introduced me to so many now-staples in my diet?!
Almond butter, Kashi bars, breakfast cookies, and topping my cereal with yogurt and fruit instead of milk!
hmmm, homemade hummus probably. flax seed too but that isnt really that fun!
Haha love this! GIRL The hazelnut butter is GROWING ON ME!! Im starting to love it!!!
Blogs have taught me
1. You can make SQUASH FRIES
2. Overnight oats!
3. Kale chips!
I could go on and on!
chia seeds and nutritional yeast!
There are so many things that I have discovered! Too many to list really. I love the healthy living blog community.
And speaking of discoveries, I just discovered your blog. Will be back.
Yay! Thanks Aimee
The sweet potato-baked beans combo I discovered through Caitlin - major YUM!
kabocha!
PB2, Almond Butter, pumpkin spice cookies, Green Monsters, Overnight oats…
Ahh so many foods! I’d say the one that has made the most impact on my life (as in, I eat it the most), would be realy oatmeal with toppings etc. None of that instant microwave stuff (not saying the microwave is bad, I often make my oats in it). Plus, overnight oats are the best when it comes to busy mornings!
Yeah!! I never made stovetop oatmeal before I found blogs. It definitely takes it to a whole new level!
I looove Justin’s chocolate nut butter!! Oh my gosh talk about hyped up crack in a jar.
I definitely got some good ideas for jazzing up my oatmeal and another favorite is banana soft-serve. And all the roasted veggies! The list goes on and on.
This is simple and kind of boring, but the base for so much - homemade almond milk. Its amazing. So much better than store bought and so, so easy to make. I also found out about chia seeds and chia pudding. And so many nut butters I would have never tried. Sunflower seed butter anyone?
If it weren’t for blogs, I would be in a dark place right now mourning the loss of what “could have been”.
If it weren’t for blogs, I would have given up in the realms of cooking/baking!
i now love almond butter, nutritional yeast, sweet potatoes and i learned how to cook tofu from blogs!
That would definetly have to be Almond Butter and all other varieties of nut/seed butters!
The many uses of pumpkin! Before reading blogs, I would have never used pumpkin in any of those ways! Also, oatmeal toppings, peanut flour, almond butter, chia seeds…the list goes on!
I agree 100%-not only has reading blogs given me great ideas but WRITING one too. It sure motivates me to get creative and try new things. I am the biggest kefir fan in the world. So glad to see you tried it.
The pumpkin blondies with Justin’s…oh my goodness. Hopefully I’ll find $10 on the street so I can go buy a jar haha. Although let’s be honest it is worth every frickin’ cent.
I actually found a lot of foods before I even started blogging but if it weren’t for blogs, I surely wouldn’t have discovered chia seeds.
Cute post! I agree! There are many things I wouldn’t know existed without food blogs! I have not tried Kefir- I gotta get on that.
if it weren’t for blogs, i would have never tried almond milk. i love it so much!
Some of my favorite blog-found foods are: Raw Vegan Brownies, Green Monsters, banana soft-serve, homemade hummus, sweet potatoes with peanut butter. I know there are a lot more that I forget I even found via blog.
I totally agree!
hmm…there is so many!
I’d have to say
pumpkin recipes
fun tasty oatmeal creations
coconut milk
fun smoothies
frozen fruit
hummus
different ways to use nut butters
and defintly chobani greek yogurt , the list goes on and on…
most of all it just gives me ideas that I use to make my own creations!
I’m so much more creative now!
So many smoothie ideas, which I love.
Gracie, please try out the coconut banana smoothie I posted on my blog. I noticed the other day that you drink that coconut milk. I used it in the smoothie with a banana and honey/stevia and it is so good! I think you would really like it! =)
oooh, sounds delicious!!
Just about everything I have been eating lately! Green monsters (still get strange looks for those), the idea that nut butters are OKAY, okra fries and almond milk! I owe the blog world my life!…well, at least my tastebudes
*gasp* :O you pay $10 for nut butter too!?!? i think i may love you…except i don’t do that anymore because my stupid grocer decided to up the price of my favorite maranthana (sp?) almond butter by $2.39, sorry bucko, but $10 was already pushin it.
i’d definitely have to say i owe many thanks for the discovery of pumpkin butter to the lovely bloggies here. i will never go another fall without it, it’s definitely a staple in my grocery list.
Oh definitely found the Justin’s on a blog. Now I pay $10 for a jar of PB too.
Oats in a Jar and Overnight Oats for-sure. Before I started reading blogs, I only thought that people ate them as-is out of the microwave packets.
Guf.
I’ve got to say, the #1 reason love the blog world is because y’all are my guinea pigs (and I think sometimes I’m a guinea pig too?)…It’s nice to see what real people thing about X food or X dish.
macadamia nut butter… and I love my white chocolate macadamia nut butter which I wouldn’t have found without reading about all the different nut butters. Also Almond Mousse, love it!
I agree - if it weren’t for blogging I wouldn’t be eating half the stuff I eat now. Flax, Chia Seeds, Quinoa, Green Monsters, Loaded Oatmeal, Yogurt Messes, Larabars, etc…
Oh that frozen yogurt looks incredible!
