Sometimes I eat fast food.
Dunkin Donuts and I have been having quite the love affair over the past few weeks. Their coffee, muffins, and breakfast sandwiches are difficult to beat.
I spent months avoiding my beloved DD because I felt it shamed my “healthy living blogger” status.
Sure, I’m not going to say to forget about the importance of healthy living. And I’m not saying, omgz look at how normal I am for eating fast food.
…But I’m also not going to label my Dunkin Donuts meals as “treats” or “splurges.”
It’s just food.
There’s a strange satisfaction and sense of normalcy that comes from getting breakfast from a drive-through.
Dare I say this but – you should try it.

I was just saying this morning that I miss DD since I moved away from MD
Enjoy it while it’s hot!
We don’t have dunkin donuts here. It’s a shame.
However, I know I’d prob get a donut over a breakfast sandwich.
Hey, I love donuts—couldnt help myself
Yay! I love this post. I also love bagel breakfast sandwiches. My obsession is bruegger’s bagels!! I’ve gone every morning for the past 3 mornings, but what can I say, sometimes a girl just needs a breakfast sandwich and a hazelnut coffee.
How did I not know DD had delish looking sandwiches like this one?! Honestly I thought it was just coffee and donuts! Haha I clearly need to get out more. =P
I’ve always wished that I could visit a DD, but we don’t have them in MN (or at least anywhere that I know of?).
I’m such a sucker for fried egg sandwiches, it’s unreal. I usually make them for myself in the morning (to save the monies, you know), but it is just wondeful to be able to drive somewhere and have someone else hand it to you.
I hate to say it, but breakfast sandwiches gross me out so much. I’ve never had one in my life, and I’ve never had a desire to- eggs and bacon have always been two of my least favorite foods!
That being said, I get strange urges to buy fast food fries occasionally. I never do, because good fries are pretty easy and the fast-food ones are usually cooked in animal fats, but I completely understand the need to eat fast food sometimes!
I used to love those sandwiches before they made me sick.
But no reason to be ashamed of them. They taste fantastic aren’t the worst thing you can get.
I havent had dunkin donuts in so long! I love where you say “its just food.” So true. You have an awesome balanced approached to life! =)
I agree! And I would label this post: short, but meaningful. I really like DD eggwhite flatbread sandwiches. No shame here.
I’ve been on my own DD kick myself. I like their veggie flat bread… and of course their coffee
I think in lieu of what I just posted, this is exactly what I needed to read. Thanks, Gracie!
I had a moment like this this past weekend involving pizza. I’ve always looked at it as “junk” food..but for the first time in a long time, I just enjoyed it. And it was awesome!
I totally eat fast food. It’s good stuff
Girl, even if you’d gone for a donut (doughnut? I never know these things…), there wouldn’t be any shame! You are so right, it is JUST food. We spend so much time as a society attaching labels, “good,” “bad,” or otherwise, to different variations of the same foundational carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Unless my food back-sasses me or displays poor table manners (in which case, we SERIOUSLY have larger issues at hand
), it is incapable of having inherently “good” or “bad” traits. Food stigma…ugh!!!
I love your blog, love your message, and think you are too stinkin’ cute for words!
ahh, thank you for this comment, Megan!!
xoxo
You are healthy! You’re eating everything in balance!
That is what being a healthy eater is about. It’s about balance.
One day, I will be strong enough to go out and eat whatever the hell I want without the stigmas of being healthy/unhealthy/good/bad tagged along with my decision. Being healthy is being free to make the choices you want, because you want to, not because you have to, or ‘should’.
Thank you for this!
You truly are amazing.
<3
You WILL be strong enough. I know it.

Gracie-
I just started reading your blog and I’m so happy you posted this. I definitely think you have to balance everything. Being healthy is a lifestyle change and you have to be able to live with it. If fast food or DD is something you love, than you can’t go your entire life depriving yourself.
thanks for reading doll!! xoxoxo
I really like McDonald’s English Muffins. I still eat it, no shame here!
YEAH! Egg McMuffins are redonk (in a good way
)
Don’t be ashamed! I <3 those breakfast sandwiches from DD and totally think they can be worked into a healthy lifestyle.
Gracie, I LOVE this post…. huge kudos to you for posting something so awesome!! I LOVE DD b-fast sandwiches… mmm… I may have to stop and get one tomorrow on the way to work - thanks! haha!
Love your approach to life… it’s true, it’s all about balance!! You’re a rockstar
I totally agree!
Its just food. Live balanced. live healthy. its fine to eat non organic food.
I’m with you, girl!
No food is off-limits!
Health should mean balance
girl, i love the new vibe on your blog! some people definitely overemphasize the ‘good’ or ‘bad’ of food and create negative energy around eating out or eating certain foods as ‘treats’ or ‘indulgences’
Couldn’t agree more- it. is. just. food! Sure, you could make your own version of this at home maybe a little cheaper and healthier, but in the end, it’s all real, whole ingredients, and sometimes the convenience and taste is just… worth it! Way to rock the “fast food,” girl!
amen.. DD is so good! last tuesday i got a large pumpkin spice coffee.. i was on a sugar high but it was a good sugar high
Confession: I worked at DD with my sister when I was a freshmen in college.
I’ve been addicted to the DD pumpkin spice coffee since last month. It’s one of my boyfriend and my favorite drinks ever!
I love your honesty! You always remind me to stay true to what my body tells me it needs (even if that is a drive through breakfast sandwich) and not worry about living up to what I think I am suppose to eat like!
its funny how anti fast food many people are when often it is just as fresh and healthy as what you would make in your kitchen anyways if not more so.
i love DD so much and miss it like crazy on the west coast… how it hasnt made it out there yet is beyond me.
Admiting things like this feel so go right? Its like we feel a sense on shame for a silly reason sometimes
You’re so right that healthy living and fast food don’t have to be mutually exclusive! We don’t have a DD here, but I’m a fan of Tim Hortons bagels with cream cheese.
and all the delicious pumpkin they have out right now! zomg! pumpkin latte lite and i are bff.
Hi Gracie,
I truly believe when I tell people that you can eat everything in moderation. You can enjoy your favorite foods and still be healthy and balanced.
I just found your blog. It’s nice to meet you here in the blogworld.
I look forward to reading more.
~ Lea
Thank GAWD you are not labeling it as a “treat” or “indulgence” or “splurge.” This is going to sound rude, but when other bloggers say that, it pisses me off! I’m like, it’s called food, just friggin eat it.
GIT IT
My dad picked up the family those bagel breakfast sandwiches yesterday! SO GOOD!
“But I’m also not going to label my Dunkin Donuts meals as “treats” or “splurges.”
AMEN!!
I am not a morning person, and I don’t usually plan my meals in advance, so I often end up grabbing breakfast. And DD and Starbucks breakfast sandwiches are usually my go-to…especially the spinach feta wrap from Starbucks. YUM.
Oh my god. “It’s just food.” I feel horribly guilty for admitting this but…”it’s just food” seriously just….had an impact on me…as if it was something I never knew….
Hey Kittie! Don’t feel guilty at all. I had a “lightbulb” moment while I typed those words too.
