Last night, I deleted my personal Facebook account.
Why? Well, let’s just say it was for (a multitude of) personal reasons.
Don’t get me wrong, I really do love Facebook. I think it’s a brilliant and useful tool for socializing, marketing, and so on. Heck, just yesterday I created a Girl Meets Health Life Facebook page. What kind of hypocrite am I?!
Actually, one of the main reasons I created the GMH Facebook page is because I was already planning on deleting my personal account. You see, I wanted to shift my focus from using Facebook as a means of stalking and being stalked to using it at a resource to connect with my readers on a deeper level. Did I just admit to Facebook stalking? Why yes, yes I did. (And while we’re at it, you must read this hilarious/so-true post of Rachel’s.)
I can’t even remember what it was like to be unaware of what was going on in other people’s lives. I’m not incredibly comfortable with the fact that I know where almost everyone went to school, their relationship status, what they did last weekend, etc. I kind of just don’t want to know anymore!
In short: I’m out of high school. I’m out of college. Many relationships have changed, and I’m ready to move on to the next chapter. So getting rid of my personal Facebook account just seemed very suitable for where I am in life right now.
With all that being said, I still do love me some social media. I mean, HELLO, I’m a blogger!
And I’m aware that the majority of what I just said is a bit ironic. But like I said - my decision primarily came down to personal issues.
Mom – I don’t know if you’re reading this, but are you proud? You always said we were all going to slowly start unplugging and becoming hippies again
breakfast.
I woke up starving this morning. I think it’s because I because I didn’t refuel enough after last night’s workout…? Thank goodness I had a new box of Glo Bars on hand. I instantly tore into one for part one of breakfast.
I had my first Glo Bar at HLS, and loved it. I knew I had to get a shipment stat!
Best. Bars. Ever.
Breakfast part two was a waffle topped with almond butter mousse and mashed banana:
Along with one egg topped with some hot sauce.
Gotta run! I have a lot to catch up on this morning since I’m heading up to visit Gabriela later this afternoon. Oh, did I forget to mention that?
Can’t wait!
Enjoy your (hopefully Earl-less) Friday, loves! xoxo G

You’ve got balls girl! Good job deleting your FB page. I’ll admit, I won’t be doing that anytime soon though I do go for extended periods w/o checking it AND I do get annoyed at how many people read what’s going on. Great post!
[...] strange as this may sound, deleting my personal Facebook account was one of the best decisions I’ve ever [...]
I’ve actually not really thought about deleting my facebook. I’m so freaking busy that I really don’t do google reader, facebook stalking or anything anymore. I don’t get notifications from facebook, I just go on occasionally to see what’s up or connect with a new classmate or coworker.
I did delete a lot of friends though! A year or so ago I realized how many friends on fb I had and how many were just acquaintances or friends-of-friends. So I just looked at all my “friends” list and deleted hundreds. That was fun.
Actually felt really liberating and freeing. What was awkward, though, was when some of those people with vague connections tried to re-friend me (i.e. a friend of my sister’s from middle school…ummm what?!). lol no thanks!
I just deleted my facebook account and I feel so liberated! I was finding myself stressed out by friendships, invitations that were not extended to me …LOL! Or maybe it’s getting married and starting a family that just sort of put things in perspective for me. Plus, who wants to listen to the same ol’ complaints and miseries? it was exhausting!
