I'm the girl, Gracie. Here at GML you can follow my journey of dreaming, working, eating, loving, and blogging my way through life in NYC.

bouncing back.

Good news! After almost a week of being sick…then thinking I was getting better…then feeling sick again…I think I’m finally bouncing back from whatever bug I had.

I’d like to thank green smoothies and the fine men of Prison Break for helping me recuperate.

After spending the majority of the week in my apartment, yesterday I absolutely had to get out for a few hours. My destination? Prune to meet up with Erica and Shawnda for brunch.

Prune is adorable nook-of-a brunch spot (aren’t they all?) on the Lower East Side. The 45-minute wait told me that this was…well, a worth the wait sort of place.

I was right.

I haven’t had the best appetite over the past week, but that ended up serving me well because I ordered something I wouldn’t normally have (I lean toward savory brunch items most of the time). That above would be the Fresh Ricotta, which came with raspberries, sun-dried figs, toasted pine nuts and honey, served with merveilles.

In case you were wondering what merveilles were, they are essentially fried scones. In other words, one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. Combined with the rich ricotta and fruit was nothing short of heavenly.

Erica and Shawnda loved their dishes as well (which I was clearly too distracted to snap photos of) – the Dutch Style Pancake and Huevos Rancheros.

Our meal came to a close when our check arrived adorned with black licorice coins. I’m not a fan of licorice, but I did love the small personal touch it added to our brunch.

After brunch I walked a few miles uptown and ran some errands before heading back home for the evening. What followed was about 3 hours of work. Is it just me, or does working on a Saturday feel like the most rewarding thing ever?!

Speaking of rewards, my night ended with some quality television viewing – the Miss America pageant.

Oops, I mean…

There it is.

I kid. I actually love watching pageants…especially when my state won! And, well, as someone who has “blogger” as one of my career titles…I can’t really be one to judge.

I’m actually glad to end this post on that note because I was really looking for an excuse to share this quote that I came across the other day in my journal…

How good is that?? Challenging, but good.

What did you Saturday look like?
Did you watch the Miss America competition?
