let’s be real.

I love that I’m a dreamer. But sometimes I worry that I’m too much of one.

I have a fear that I won’t get the chance to travel the world.

My favorite blog posts come to mind when I’m lying in bed and can’t fall asleep. Like this one.

I have a weird obsession with the word “pixie.” Couldn’t tell you why.

If you knew the words we made up and accents we speak in, you’d probably hate us. And probably wouldn’t be reading this blog.

I regularly follow the tweets of @CSLewisDaily, @thedailybeast, and @NYNightlife. You know, just to keep my priorities in balance.

I dislike most small dogs. Unless they’re the puppy-version of a big dog.

What I consider a fully-stocked kitchen looks a little bit like this.

…what?

Your turn – give me one of your “let’s be reals.”
(Since that’s so grammatically correct, and all.)

my weekend.

I’m sleep deprived.
And already behind with work.
And unapologetically quite lazy right now.

So here’s a light-on-words recap of bits&pieces of this fun little weekend of mine. Starting with…

Us. Thinking we’re much funnier than we actually are.

Giiiiiiirls niiiiiiight. For the most part.

I treated my overnight guests (AKA Jessi) to an “oatmeal bar” (AKA the only food I have in the kitchen). You’re welcome.

I decided to start reading again. I hear it’s a good habit to have.

And frolicked around the Union Square Christmas Market.

Finally, we closed the weekend with some her’s & her’s hot chocolate at Max Brenner.
Just ’cause.

Now let’s start the holiday week, shall we? xoxo G

What book(s) are you reading right now?
& tell me something fun you did this past weekend!

perfectly uneventful.

For the past 48 hours, I escaped the over-stimulation of the city for a perfectly uneventful visit to my Pennsylvania home. I guess I didn’t realize that I needed a mental and emotional break just a much as I needed physical rest..!

From Tuesday afternoon into Thursday morning, my life consisted of staying in my pajamas, quality time with my entire family, and soup. Lots and lots of soup.

There was also the predictable movie marathon, which included Twilight (obv) and a new favorite, Crazy Stupid Love.

I actually have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this movie because of the whole “look women - you can CHANGE a man by him falling in love with you!” sort of theme, but it was a great chick-flick nonetheless. That’d be the Media/Culture Theory student in me, I suppose.

The time at home even brought out a bit of my creative side when I got scissor-happy with some old magazines. I may not be very artistic, but I can make a mean collage. Just you wait and see.

And then of course there were the parting gifts, which I’m convinced is my mom’s sneaky way of getting me to visit more.

A birthday cake candle? She knows me all too well.

I’m now back in my humble abode above the city on this rainy Thursday…finally getting over this sickness…and ready for the weekend ahead with my lovepies.

How do you give yourself a break from…life?

if i was a sick girl.

If I was a sick girl, I might…

…be really whiney and emo for a few days before REFUSING to admit that I’m actually sick.

…eat frozen meals and cookies for 3 days straight because I was too lazy to cook.

…get to the place I usually work on Tuesday morning and start crying for no reason at all.

…only to get home and find that I did in fact have a fever.

…then, oh ya know, get on a train to PA to have Momma G take care of me and serve me homemade brunch.

…and then blog about it like a (still whiney) little baby.

Me?? Nah, never.

2-ingredient peanut butter cookie {dough}.

Remember when I made a single-serving cookie cake?

Well, the other day I really wanted to make that, but was feeling lazy (what else is new), so I came up with this little treat.

It may not look particularly appealing, but this “cookie” is simple AND insanely good.

To make it, combine 1.5 tablespoons of (white or yellow) cake mix and 1 tablespoon of slightly melted peanut butter in a bowl. It might take a minute, but just keep working the ingredients together and eventually it will combine into a loose, almost sand-like dough. Place the dough on saran wrap and wrap it up really tightly so that it all sticks together, and then freeze for at least 15 minutes.

Peanut butter cookie dough, anyone?

It works with almond butter too, fyi :)

not just any.

I’ve become that person.
….that person who thinks that anything and everything is better when it’s in this city.
AKA I’m an NYC snob. Owning it.

But seriously - this is the city where anything goes - and it’s the city where you can find a bigger, better, and unique version of just about anything.

…Like when your sweet tooth kicks in, we’ve got ice cream. But not just any “ice cream.”

All natural, dairy free, fat free, gluten free banana soft serve from The Soft Serve Fruit Co.

And when crisp autumn Saturdays roll around, we pay a visit the park. But not just any park. Central Park.

The roombud and I took the opportunity to get all dressed up in our girlie fall attire, naturally.

(Which resulted in a photo shoot, even more naturally.)

I’ve actually only been to Central Park a few times – never during the fall – and it. was. perfect. So…romantic!

We did the strolling thing (with Starbucks in hand, of course).

We played. Like 4-year-olds.

And jumped fences. Like 9-year-olds.

Eventually we did the grown-up thing and found a beautiful little spot to read and journal.

After a long day of frolicking around, we enjoy a good night out…but not just any night out.

We have the most fun, weird, and unpredictable nights out.

And then there are my friends. But not just any friends.

I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by the most fun and beautiful people in this entire city. I hate their guts :)

It was a good weekend.

Are you a “snob” for where you live? Could you see yourself living anywhere else?
