LOVE!!
I spent the first day of 2011 being a complete bum, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I also had the chance to decide on what my goals for 2011 would be. I sincerely considered making none at all, but I came up with a few that I absolutely knew I wouldn’t regret making.
Gracie’s goals for 2011.
1. Grow closer to the Lord. This is one that is very, very necessary. Even though I spent time in scripture every day of last year, I’m ashamed to admit that it became a chore I rushed through simply so I could say I read through the entire Bible. This year, although I’m going to stick to the same devotional program, I want/need to truly meditate on the words rather than skim through them. I want to pray for longer than 30 seconds. I want to share my faith with others! I want to praise and glorify God with my life instead of doing everything based on my selfish ambition. I can’t say that this is going to be easy, but I know that the reward will be unlike anything I can accomplish on my own.
2. Improve GML. I can’t believe how much blogging has changed my life over the past year, and I’m so excited to see what 2011 has in store for GML. I really want to continue making this blog a place where I can help, share stories, and straight up entertain my readers! I hope to work on the “technical” stuff – such as making GML more user-friendly – as well as improving my writing abilities. Please feel free to let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see more of!
3. Become more independent/mature. Since officially moving just a few days ago, I’ve come to realize that I have a lot of learning and growing up to do. It’s almost embarrassing to think of all the basic things that I have no idea how to do for myself. Although I desperately need to rely on God more, I also need to learn how to manage my own life – both emotionally and logistically. I want to become a stronger, more confident version of myself – not just for my own sake, but also so I can be a better friend, daughter, co-worker, and blogger!
So, there you have it! I’m going to continue practicing some of last year’s goals too; such as cooking more, sticking to a budget, etc. But this time next year, these three goals are the ones that I hope to say check, check, and check.
p.s. do you know what today is?? Stay tuned for this afternoon’s post to find out!
xoxo G

Great goals! What do you mean about the things you need to learn to do? Is there anything specific?
Hey girl! Since I lived with my parents for so long, a lot of what I need to learn is how to maintain a “household” on my own! Paying bills, cleaning, etc. And then there’s learning how to manage stress on my own. When I lived at home, I automatically went to my mom when I needed emotional help, and even though she’s only a phone call away, I’m finding that it’s important for me to learn how to manage stressful situations on my own. Does that make sense?
Yes, totally! I just moved into my first apartment (the first I haven’t shared with anyone else) and it’s crazy all the little things that you don’t know (or think you know). I told my dad that my stove smelled funny and was worried about a gas leak and he goes “um…that’s an electric stove”. Yeah, so I know what you mean about being independent sometimes! It does get easier though. I’ve moved across the world and across the country before by myself, and you will surprise yourself with what you can do! Good luck!

You know how much I love the first one here! You are going to accomplish this goals and surprise yourself by getting closer to your faith and growing up in general. There’s a big difference between 23 and 25, I am proof of that! I think I know what today is, but I’ll wait to see. Speaking of seeing, I’ll see you in 10 days!!

Hey - I just Stumbled across your page. It’s cool to see a woman who is passionate about growing in the Lord. I live in the SF Bay Area and there are so few women here who are serious about their walk of faith. The Lord will honor and bless your desire to know Him more. “Oh that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in the early spring.” (Hosea 6:3)
God Bless!
