Ever since I can remember, Wednesday night has been Mommy and Gracie night.
Every week, my dad goes to the Wednesday night service at my church, which leaves my mom and I to spend the evening together. Throughout the years, our tradition has gone through phases, but the basic premise is always the same.
First, we go out and do something fun. This can range from random errands to clothes shopping to getting massages.
Although not quite as glamorous as the photo suggests, this was our “something fun” last night. We found a little hole-in-the-wall shop in the mall that gives $30 massages that feel like they’re worth a million bucks.
Next is dinner. Every once in a while we get takeout from our favorite restaurant. Most of the time we raid the salad bar. Last night, we enjoyed a delicious home-cooked meal.

Finally, there’s the entertainment. We often times watch a movie that we know my dad wouldn’t like (or approve of, shh!). But lately, Wednesday night has been reserved for catching up on our favorite TV shows.
But the best part? Being able to laugh, vent, and simply spend time with my favorite person.

- Do you have any traditions with a family member or friend?

So sweet! I wish my mom lived close enough that we could do Wednesday night traditions!
…but I totally caught up on Gossip Girl with my sweet pup last night. I’m so addicted… it’s not even funny.
I think that is so sweet
Whenever I visit my parents, my mom and I wake up extra early on Saturday/Sunday mornings to go to garage sales, thrift stores and vintage shops. We always find something and have the best time!
When I was still living at home, my mom and I would go out to dinner on Friday nights and come home and watch Say Yes to the Dress on TLC with yummy desserts!! I totally miss that tradition. Moms are the most precious people in the world!
You and your mom are so cute! We don’t have weekly traditions like this, but we do have seasonal ones, such as certain shopping dates!
That’s adorable! I love doing things with my mom too, but we don’t have a special night reserved to do them.
My three sisters, my sister-in-law, my mom, and I all live in different states. We’ve started “girls weekend” where once a year we get together - just girls - for a weekend of fun - hiking, shopping, movies, cooking. We rotate areas so one year I’ll drive more and another year some others will. It’s been SO fun and a great way for us to become closer friends now that we’re older!
Families are so important, what a great tradition! We have Sunday night dinner at my parents house. It usually ranges from my grandparents all the way down to my neices. I usually look forward to it all week long!
so sweet <3
the only tradition i can think of off-hand is that every wednesday night my hubby will watch America's Next Top Model with me.
He's so funny, because he has his favorites, and it's usually the awkward/weird girl. love that! we also bet on who's going to be eliminated.
it's the simple things
I love special nights like this! How sweet that you get to spend it with your mom. I wish I lived closer to mine - even at just an hour away I don’t get to see her enough.
You two are so pretty:)
What a lovely weekly tradition!!!
One of my family traditions is to go out to Hoss’s for lunch on Sunday after church.
We like to cook breakfast on weekend mornings and drink coffee and eat for a long time while reading the paper!
I LOVE this, I feel like I can totally relate to having a fam-based night, I always have one with my Dad
You + your Mom are absolutely gorgeous! I hope ya’ll enjoyed your night
xox Meg
That’s so cute. My mom and I like to have girls’ nights, too. I live too far away now to do it on a regular basis, but ours usually includes shopping, a mani or pedi, a chick flick, and dinner.
Aw I love that
I’m 4+ hours away from home but when I go visit I try & make the most of it.
Oh and the last episode of Gossip Girl was SO good. I’ve never been so in love with a show
Oh yes. My mom and I ALWAYS spend time together watching our favorite shows… Grey’s for one!
That’s such a nice tradition!
)
I always make my mom coffee in the morning when I’m home. We slowly sip that coffee while talking about the day ahead, or chat about other random stuff. I just love that tradition, and my mom always says I make the best coffee
Thats so nice and such a great idea! =)
That sounds perfect! My mom and I usually spend one day of the weekend shopping & hanging out together!
Love the mom/daughter tradition! And a massage is a massage. Sounds heavenly to me!
THIS IS SOO SWEET! I love this!!!!!!!! I am about to go home and hang out with my momma and this got me so pumped!
That’s sweet. I love mommy-daughter dates, they are the best!!
Aww that’s so sweet!! My dad and I love to go hiking together- we both love it and my mom hates it, so it makes us the perfect pair
Aw, what a great tradition! Girl time is so important
You are your mom are so cute! I loved your post about being single yesterday too!
aww! thats so sweet. no, i do not have a specific tradition with a person or family memeber. For my whole life up until a few years ago every single friday night would be family night and we would order teryaki and a movie. Me and my sister would grab a towel and lie it on the ground so we could eat in our family room and watch a movie with out spilling on the carpet. hehe
then we became teenagers and had plans on a lot of our friday nights:(
thats a good idea though! me and my mom are working day by day at strengthening our relationship.
its hard being a teenager and living with your parents. let me tell you. haha
That is really nice! All the girls (cousins, aunt, my mom and I) get together every month and have dinner and chat. We just went this past Monday! It is a great tradition! I love catching up with everyone!
aww, how sweet. i love mommy & me time =]
That is so sweet. When I’m home my mom and I watch Glee together. That’s our show
Funny- we have dinner with my bf’s parents every Wednesday, too! THey love it and so do we.
Last night his dad cooked for us at our house- came home to steak!!! Score!
Aww, you two are too cute! This makes me want to go home and hang out with my mom now. When I’m home, we love to go thrift shopping together.
this is so lovely. i never had that relationship with my mom (i love her but we never really shared many interests) and i really would like to cultivate this sort of relationship with my own kids someday (even though i don’t even have any yet!)
