HEY boos! I know I say this every month, but this favorite month of mine seriously flashed before my eyes. With the holidays around the corner, though, I think I’ll survive. Let’s relive October 2010, shall we?
food.
For me, October was all about the baked goods. Whether I baked it myself or obtained via drive-thru, I ate some sort of scone, muffin, or bagel twist just about every day of the week.

I’ve also been loving spaghetti squash, which I actually didn’t like when I tried it for the first time earlier this year.
If cooked the right way, though, spaghetti squash gets all sorts of soft and almost buttery. If you’re impatient like me, I suggest using Roni’s method for microwaving spaghetti squash.
p.s. No matter how tasty spaghetti squash may be, please don’t try to fool yourself into thinking that it will replace real pasta.
exercise.
HIIT (high intensity interval training) has been a part of my workout routine about twice a week lately.
Supposedly HIIT is good for your metabolism…or whatever. I just like it because it’s quick and gets to the point. It also makes for quite the SSS.
beauty product.
Confession: I don’t wash my hair every day…nor do I want to. Enter: dry shampoo.

They say it’s better not to wash your hair every day anyway. Whether that’s true or not, I’m in favor of any product that allows me to embrace my inner lazy girl.
fashion.
To me, the fall is all about rocking layers upon layers.
Not only is layering a fun look, but it’s great for those days where you can’t decide what to wear. Wear it all!
song.
Undertow by Warpaint.
workout song.
Aquene’s Free the Night has 90’s dance song written all over it. What more reason do you need?
television show.
Gossip Girl has been a favorite of mine from the beginning, but this season is all sorts of cray cray! In a good, suspenseful-but-not-too-frustrating sort of way.
…Although, is it just me, or is anyone else getting fed up with Katie Cassidy’s creepy character Juliet??

- What are your October favorites?

I am obsessed with H.I.T workouts. I know you don’t like the gym, I think you mentioned that before? I strongly suggest Cathe Friedrich’s HIT interval workouts. Heres the link: http://www.amazon.com/Cathe-Friedrichs-STS-Shock-Cardio/dp/B0031KC4ZA/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1288359250&sr=8-1-fkmr1
ITs fantastic! Definitely an SSS workout! =)
I’m always in love with baked goods.
PS - I don’t wash my hair everyday either - it’s not good for thick hair and I don’t have time. Psst is a savior for me!
Oooooh-i LOVE HIIT. although admittedly i haven’t done it in so long!
Lots of October faves
1-My daughter and stepdad had birthdays
2-i got lots of canned pumpkin
3-the weather cooled down
4-had an awesome going away party
5-got a target giftcard from a friend for $100!!!
6-moved from Wisconsin to Seattle
7-get to be with my hubby again who was in seattle for 2 months before my daughter and me
october’s been a good one
I love the layered look!
Ugh, Juliet is so annoying! I wish they’d explain what her brother’s deal is already. I LOVVVVVE GG!!
And I also love the layered look… I need to pick up some new pieces to layer!
Yeah, I want to know what her brother is all about! When they first introduced him, didn’t it seem like he was her boyfriend??
Now I’m dying to know how Sabrina’s professor/new boy-toy plays into the scheme. Ahh!!
p.s. did I really say “Sabrina??” WOW.
I love spaghetti squash! It may not be the same as pasta, but it’s totally delicious in its own special way. My October fave might be blogging, which I started last Wednesday. Or perhaps French macaroons, which I tried for the first time last night. And pretty decorated pumpkins!
oh I want that bagel twist NOW !!
I *LOVE* dry shampoo. and HIIT is YYEEAAAHHH fabulous !!
Love that quote about resting in Christ:)
I’m SO with you on Spaghetti Squash and HIITs.
My favorite thing about October is that my sister came to visit me from Texas this month and also it’s getting cooler so I can rock all my hoodies and snuggle with my Hunk of a Husband:) Oh yeah, and FIREPLACES!!!
Ok, I so I don’t wash my hair every day either. It’s one of the biggest keys to healthy hair IMO. (Even Kim Kardashian said the same thing in an interview recently!) But I bought the waterless shampoo from Tresemme and it does NOT work! My hair stays limp and then gets stiff from the product. I will have to try your brand. Waterless shampoo that works would be a lifesaver for me!
I heard so-so things about Tresemme as well. I got this random “Psssst” brand from CVS; apparently it’s one of Allure’s top picks!
I micro my spaghetti squash too! Works perfectly =)
Also love Gossip Girl AND Vampire Diaries.
Love the beautiful fall leaves. Love the end of sandals and the start of closed toe shoes.
Happy Friday!
Hey Gracie, can you tell me if your dry shampoo has fragrance in it? I’ve been trying to find a dry shampoo without fragrance for a lifetime it seems!
Hey girl! I don’t think it’s *supposed* to have fragrance, but it does. Does that make sense? haha.
I love your layered outfit! You look so cute!
I love dry shampoo. It’s one of the best beauty products invented, IMO.
Tresemme has a great one for only 4 dollars. Tigi Bed Head has a pretty amazing one too, obviously a little more expensive, but well worth it!
I love how the dry shampoo brightens my blonde as well!
I want to fold you up, stick you in a suitcase and take you to New York with me (after you pick outfits for me) next week. I LOVE the layered look. I love everything about what you love. I really need to plan a Philly/NY trip like, yesterday.
I’ve been loving GG this season too. Though I REALLY hope that Taylor Momsen is gone for good- I just want to wash her every time she comes onto the screen!!
Other faves = pumpkin (duh), baked goods also, and Like a G6
I really like your montly favorites lists. Some of mine?
-I tried Zumba this month. And loved it!
-pumpkin, of course and all things squash, really
-perfect soup, cuddling, and scarves weather
Love that quote by Corrie Ten Boom!
WHERE did you get that shampoo?!!!!
CVS!
In high school I broke my femur, had surgery, and couldn’t shower for way too long. My mom bought Pssst for my hair. We sprayed it on… and my sister commented “pssst, your hair still looks really dirty.” It’s become an inside joke among us, so I laughed a lot when I saw that picture! I’m sure Pssst works for day old hair… but maybe not week-old. Nothing helps that nasty mess.
Yes, so fed up with Juliette!! Stop messing things up for everyone. I watched an interview with Katie Cassidy though and she said when it is revealed why her and Ben are trying to sabotage/get revenge on Serena.. everyone will understand why. EEK! Poor Serena. This season is almost my favourite yet. Amazing.
I’ve been super curious about the whole dry shampoo thing. I’ve got the kind of hair that has to be washed daily (or so I think) and have been wanting to try some. Where do you get the stuff you use?
I get it at CVS
“If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. But, if you look to Christ, you’ll be at rest.” – Corrie Ten Boom
Love this quote, and it’s so true.
Also, I’m so happy it’s getting cold enough to wear layers. I love to “wear it all”!
Ohhh… that bagel twist looks so good! I’ve been wanting to get dry shampoo, but haven’t gotten to yet. It will definitely be on my shopping list.
I love October… the cool weather, apples, leaves changing. What’s there not to like?
i normally dony like anything from dunkin donuts but that bagel twist thing looks DARN good! you are so freakin cute in your stylish outfit! i need to learn from you!
I concur. I LOVE Oct but it’s FLOWN by!!! Welcome November and December..
I honestly don’t think I could live without dry shampoo!! I teach aerobics so I am constantly sweaty, so dry shampoo is a lifesaver!! I also love anything with pumpkin in it. I actually just pulled a loaf out of the oven approximately 20 minutes ago!!
I think I’m going to need to invest in that dry shampoo because now that it’s midterm/project/paper time, showers are taking a seat on the back burner.
I haven’t even had time for Gossip Girl lately! I miss it!
My October faves are acorn squash, scarves, cornbread, coconut body butter, all-you-can-eat sushi with friends, and date & fig Greek yogurt.
i’m seriously over juliet, just tells us her plot, seriously
I don’t wash my hair every day - and I’m totally cool with it! I used to, but it wasn’t styling well. It needed to be a little dirtier.
October Faves? Quinoa Pumpkin Granola for sure.
