Don’t you love date nights with your best friend? And aren’t they even better when that best friend is your mom?
Momma Meets Health and I had to visit Cape May tonight for some errands, so we decided to make a night out of it. After our errands, we stopped at the Washington Street Mall for some walking and window shopping. I also picked up some vanilla fudge, as a typical Jersey Shore tourist would.
dinner.
After the mall we headed to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Bella Vida. I love Bella Vida because they offer healthy menu options that taste anything but. Some of the menu options are Sesame Encrusted Ahi Tuna and Veggie Polenta Cakes – both of which I considered ordering. I ended up going with the Coconut Encrusted Grouper - Topped with pineapple mango salsa & drizzled with A rum glaze with island risotto & vegetable.
It was delicious!
Before my entree I had some salad and bread with butter.
After dinner we stopped at another one of my favorite Cape May pass times – the arcade!
I played a ton of games and seriously felt like a little kid again. Thanks for treating me to all those games of skee-ball, mom
When I got home I was excited to munch on my block of sugar vanilla fudge for dessert. Heav. en. ly.
lunch.
Earlier in the day had a delicious fruit and veggie-filled salad for lunch.
My salad included romaine, baby spinach, celery, apple, avocado, blueberries, and feta cheese. I dressed it with Annie’s Raspberry Vinaigrette. I thought that the addition of sliced apple would be kind of weird, but it worked!
Refreshing summer salad – check.
I’m pretty tired…all that skee-ball takes a lot out of a girl
G’night, lovebugs! xoxo G
- Do you ever go on mother-daughter dates?
- Have you found any weird salad/food combinations that “work?”

My mom and I totally go on dates, she also loves it when I pay
Yummm, I am sooo craving fudge!
Sounds like an awesome day! My mum and I are super close and since she’s retired we spend one day a week together having momma n’ baby bear time. It’s fab!
I definitely consider my mom my best friend. We always laugh when we are together, and enjoy many of the same things. I love avocado on salads, they go with anything. A new combo I am loving is feta and roasted beets on salads! Yum!
I love mother-daughter dates. Skeeball was my favorite as a kid! I was so good at that and the game where you stop a light when its between your two neon lights. I made a friend cry because I would always win, so I gave her my tickets. I just enjoyed knowing that I won.
Haha, sorry for the random story! It definitely brought back childhood memories.
I love mother-daughter dates. Ours usually includes pedicures, lunch, shopping, and the movies.
I have mother-daughter dates, and i’m pretty sure they trump must dates! It’s cute you and your mom are so close! my mom is my BFF, as well, so I relate!
I’m pretty my life would be significantly better right now if I had some of that fudge….significantly!
okay, i know this totally sounds so wierd, but pita chips with craisins are TDF.
I’m SO jealous that you had fudge from the Fudge Kitchen! Our family vacation spot for YEARS was Stone Harbor NJ and they had a Fudge Kitchen right in the little downtown — I still remember when they had the singing older lady.. ah-mazing. Anyway, I ALWAYS go on mother-daughter dates when we are in town together… we are just a match made in heaven!
I love dates with my mom! One of my favorite parts of living in Dallas right now is that I get to see her on the reg. Y’all are such beauties!
Awww!! I haven’t been to the rides ONCE this summer…thank God I got that ice cream cone in, otherwise I would consider myself a failure. My mommy and I went on a shopping date yesterday- you know what I got

Fudge is my weakness! Peanut Butter Fudge - ohhouhhh
Love dates with my mom. Usually shopping and baking are involved!
I love, love, love mother-daughter dates! It’s one of the reasons I refuse to move further than an hour from my hometown!
I love mother daughter dates. It usually involves going into Philadelphia and seeing a play or maybe going shopping (my mom hates shopping) and then eating out. Our dates aren’t often (or cheep) but it is so nice just to relax for a day and just hangout.
Mother daughter dates are so important…ours usually include pedis, something active, and vino…in no particular order
I love skee ball! So fun! The vanilla fudge sounds out of this freaking world.

Your date looks like a LOT of fun, by the way. I love ski-ball, too!
