I’ve found that in my life, there are two types of weekends. There’s the do-everything-go-everywhere-barely-get-any-sleep type of weekend, which I’ve been experiencing for the past couple of months. But then there’s the chill weekend. The chill weekend involves minimal plans and lots of rest and relaxation.
If you haven’t guessed, this weekend turned out to be the perfect (and much needed) chill weekend. I watched movies, read, and chilled out on the beach.
It was great
And I plan on continuing the pattern today! With a trip to Chicago around the corner, this chill weekend was just what the doctor ordered.
weekend eats.
For dinner last night we ordered takeout from our favorite seafood restaurant. I went with the stuffed shrimp (no surprise there). The “shrimp” turned out to be ginormous crab cakes with a single shrimp in the middle. Trust me…I was not complaining.
I ate two of these wammer-jammers, which were full of creamy, crab-meaty goodness. YUM.
Leftover Cheesy Bacon Turkey Meatloaf made an appearance (or two) over the weekend…
…as well as ample amounts of fresh fruit action.
It’s no secret that I tend to “indulge” on the weekends, and that usually means dessert is a must. Example A: blueberry peach pie a la mode.
Example B: soft serve + rainbow sprinkles from The Queen.
break the fast.
This morning I was craving something cold, so I made a quick batch of overnight oats (contradiction much?
).
In the mix:
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1/2 mashed banana
- spoonful of almond butter
- cinnamon
I combined all of the ingredients and refrigerated for about 10 minutes before digging in.
Isn’t is so much more fun to eat out of a mug?
I’m off to enjoy my favorite day of the week
Ta-ta, lovebugs!! xoxo G
- Do you prefer a busy weekend or a chill weekend?
- Did you eat dessert this weekend? What was it?

Ohh my Goddd I want that stuffed shrimp. I haven’t had good seafood in so long, and it’s calling to me. Dessert this weekend was a mini key lime pie last night…delish! And chocolate, of course
Definitely prefer a chill weekend, but with one planned activity thrown in there. I like to have lots of down time, but something to look forward to! Have a wonderful day love!!
Gr8 post, Gracie!
I suppose I prefer my weekends a bit of a mix. Chillout but still do a few things that needed doing but weren’t back-or-patience-breaking, ya know? Those sorts of weekends are fantabulous for clearing out little things that got procrastinated against!
I love a chill out weekend but only when I’ve had a busy working week! Your pie looks amazing, my mouth is watering hehe! Dessert this weekend for me will maybe be peach crumble with custard, yummy!
Enjoy your sunday
I love the chill weekends! I need those to decompress. We rarely get to have them.
I like to keep weekends chill, but still do at least one special thing, like dinner at a nice place. I never skip dessert! Last night, I enjoyed a glorious piece of carrot cake. Ice cream also makes frequent appearances throughout the summer months.
Those “crab cakes” look amazing! I could eat crab cakes for every meal. I had Tres Leches this weekend at a Mexican food restaurant. It was a combination of flan, bread pudding, and a sopapilla. It was to die for!
I like chill weekends - they are oh so relaxing!
I haven’t had dessert yet but tonight I will be having some Cookies n’ Cream birthday cake in honor of my brothers birthday! Yum! (I made the cake!)
Why is it that those little rainbow sprinkles make froyo better^10?!?
I love busy weekeds, the ones where I feel like I couldn’t have possibly fit anything else in my day…but I also love the chill ones every now and again. This weekend was a “chill” kind of weekend. It also involved banana froyo with coconut and rainbow sprinkles…so I guess that answers the dessert question, as well! ;0)
Oh boy…for dessert…I had all of the following: maple covered peanuts, blueberry cupcakes, ginger cookies, apricot spice cookies, candy corn, ice cream sandwich…do you want me to go on? It was an INDULGE weekend
AMAZING eats. I’ve been doing a lot of indulging this weekend too. Though we don’t have any sun :/
W-o-w! That seafood looks so yummy! That’s funny that you ordered stuffed shrimp and it only had one shrimp HA! I wouldn’t have been complaining either, though:)
No dessert for me. Not until November. Ughhh, that is really hard to type HA!
yes, it is 10x better to eat oats out of of mug.
dessert!? why, of course!! coffee ice cream + crumbed toffee =]
I’ve had similar weekends this summer - this one was definitely a chill at home one! Love the mouthwatering desserts, yum.
Love eating cereal out of a mug.
I totally prefer chill weekends. Unfortunately, weekends usually become my “catch all” for the things I couldn’t get finished during the week. Which stresses me out. Which leads to eating the moon pie I just polished off. Thank goodness for long workouts!
Mmm I bet that stuffed shrimp was glorious!!
I like my weekends to be balanced with busy Friday nights and Saturdays, and then a chill Sunday.
Last night for dessert I had one of the cookies from the batch that my grandma baked me!
I’ve tried putting almond butter in my oats but I can never taste it
And almond milk? I’m sure that’s healthy for you. How does it compare to soy milk, regular milk, etc?
oh and p.s. LOVE you and your friend’s madras bikinis
[...] chill weekend. [...]
I. Love. Love. Love. Love - and appreciate a good’ol plain soft serve cone with sprinkles!
I ate dessert! On Saturday night, it was a square of lightened-up carrot cake, a mini 3 musketeers bar, and a few brownie crumbles. On Sunday night, it was Rita’s chocolate and vanilla custard with rainbow sprinkles. (I love those rainbow sprinkles!)
