a sweet start.

Last week I watched the movie Remember Me. You know, the one that everyone saw solely because Edward Robert Pattinson was in it.

Well, in addition to being a surprisingly good film, something stuck out to me. The lead female character, Ally (who bears a striking resemblance to this hottie) always ordered dessert before her meal. I remember thinking – why don’t I do this?! In fact, as someone with a constant sweet tooth, why not just eat sweet food all the time? Who ever said that “normal” meals have to be savory?

Okay. Tangent. Sorry :P The reason I was reminded of that part of the movie, though, is because my lunch today started with dessert.

lunch.

I made a batch of HEAB’s Maple Nut Oaties, and they were nothing short of phenom.

I followed Heather’s recipe pretty much to the T, except that I halved it. I also chose dates and cinnamon-brown-sugar almonds as my mix-ins. Let’s just say it took a great deal of self control to avoid eating the entire bowl of dough.

I ate one straight out of the oven and two more after they cooled.

How can something so good be so…good?!

Ironically enough, the other part of my meal was the most salty thing I’ve eaten in a while.

I had a ginormous bowl of baby spinach topped with homemade Cheesy Chive Dip. To make the dip, I combined:

  • about 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon freeze-dried chives
  • 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese
  • pinch of salt

To add to the saltiness factor, I crushed a bag of salt & pepper pop chips into the salad.

chips > croutons, in case you were wondering.

breakfast.

Rewind to breakfast this morning, where I broke into this bag of chocolate Vega powder.

This was part of my HLS swag bag, and I was excited to give it a try. I must admit that I was also a bit wary of the taste (I’m not the world’s biggest fan of chocolate), but the mix actually made for a to die smoothie.

My smoothie contained:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 scoop Vega mix
  • 3/4 banana
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 2 ice cubes

I also had a slice of fluffy bread topped with almond butter…to round out the brown-themed breakfast, I guess? :P

Back to work! Ta ta for now sweetpeas. xoxo G
